Bug#1022269: cataclysm-dda-data: Missing link to unifont font file

2022-10-23 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: cataclysm-dda-data
Version: 0.F-3-5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

cataclysm-dda-data contains softlink to unifont.ttf
However in newer package of fonts-unifont this file just doesn't exist.

As a result it doesn't start with the error:

Error while initializing the interface: Cannot load font unifont

Changing the softlink to unifont-sample.ttf fixes the problem.

I tried unifont.otf, but it seems unifont.ttf is hardcoded in the sources.

Bug#541708: gnome-do: All plugins have dissapeared

2009-08-15 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: gnome-do

All plugins have dissapeared from gnome-do. It is non-functional except 'start
program' and 'copy to clipboard' usecases.
I have no plugins listed in preferences, just empty list (both for official and
contributed plugins).

Bug#538030: grub-ieee1275 fails to install bootblock

2009-07-22 Thread Alexander Vlasov

Package: grub-ieee1275
Version: 1.96+20090709-1
Severity: normal

I got a problem trying to setup grub as a bootloader on Ultra45 machine with
LSI SAS controller.

Namely, after installing a package I tried to run grub-install, but it failed
with following diagnostic message:

---
grub-mkdevicemap: error: Cannot open SAS PHY ID
'/sys/devices/root/f0063e50/pci:02/:02:00.0/:03:09.0/:0a:00.0/:0b:01.0/host0/port-0:0/end_device-0:0/sas_device:end_device-0:0/phy_identifier'

---

I tried to create device map manually, and this message disappeared,
grub-install finished successfully; however boot loader is still SILO.

Regardless of device.map file, the error message above can be reproduced if
grub-setup being invoked with `--recheck' option.

The machine in question is Ultra45, HW info follows:
# lspci | grep SCSI

Tho problems (error message and grub boot sector not actually installed) joined
in one report since I believe they're somehow related.

Bug#529802: ktimetracker: Export history works incorrectly

2009-05-21 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: ktimetracker
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

I've recently upgraded from karm to ktimetracker. Now I have problems with
history export.

1) Choosing 'only selected task' doesn't work, application exports history for
all tasks.
2) Most important, for some reason it shows 0 hours for tasks I've definitely
been working on.
3) Export takes extremly long time comparing to karm. I have about 450 tasks
and it works about 1 minute to export spent hours for past week.

I can provide additional files.

Bug#416503: behaves strange in vservers

2007-04-23 Thread Alexander Vlasov
I can't reporoduce this bug neither on amd64, nor on i386 with evdev
version 1:1.1.2-6, xorg version 2:1.1.1-21 (versions etch released
with).
Problem disappeared after reboot; I rebooted computer a few days after
bugreport. I can't recall, maybe I updated evdev before this.
Anyway, I can't reproduce this bug for a month.

Hello,

Sorry, nothing new. I can't reproduce this bug at all.
Anyway, I'm using input-evdev on one computer, so if bug will appear
once again I'll inform you.

Bug#415430: Can't build module for amd64 flavour on i386

2007-04-03 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Hello,

No. i386 arch has only one nvidia-kernel-source package, and seems it
isn't correct one for 64-bit kernel. How can I install amd64 version of
nvidia-kernel-source without black magic like wget && dpkg --force-arch?
If you think separate 64-bit version of nvidia-kernel-source should be
packaged on i386, please do so.

Sure. I'll try today and write another followup.

xserver-xorg-core: Version: 2:1.1.1-20
xserver-xorg: 1:7.1.0-15
it's current etch versions, no updates available.
Xorg.log surely differs, but nothing seems wrong. Anyway, I'll retry
this later and attach both logs.

Seems so.
No, I see no ways to disable anything console-related. This problem
exists even during vserver creation with newvserver.

Not at all. I'll retry both input drivers later and I'll try to
reproduce this bug on i386 arch.

Bug#416503: behaves strange in vservers

2007-03-28 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: xserver-xorg-input-evdev
Version: 1:1.1.2-6

Hi.
I'm using vserver-enabled kernel on amd64 arch on my desktop and after
switching to evdev from kbd+mouse I found strange behavior in
vservers (after `vserver blahblah enter'): when I press enter it behaves
like enter was pressed many times (~ 50), so working in vservers almost
impossible.

I tried different terminals (xterm, rxvt, gnome-terminal) with same
result, but this bug doesn't exists in console (real console, tty*).
Without entering to vservers enter key also works ok.

Bug#409033: Gdm can't start at boot with nvidia card

2007-01-30 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: gdm
Version: 2.16.4-1

Hello.
On two computers with NVidia cards I have a strange behavior of gdm: it
can't start on graphical greeter mode on boot.
After boot, screen flickers and I receive a popup with message, like,
"failed to start, trying to run another program" and gdm starts in
simple mode with somehow corrupted text right above the login field.
Nothing suspicious in Xorg*log, but syslog has two suspiciuos lines:
Jan 30 12:03:37 zulu gdm[3049]: failsafe dialog failed (inhibitions: 0
0)
Jan 30 12:03:37 zulu gdm[3049]: failsafe dialog failed (inhibitions: 0
1)

after switching to vt1 and `/etc/init.d/gdm restart' it starts fine in
themed mode. The same in case of pressing Ctrl-Alt-Backspace (it
restarts in themed mode fine).

This problem exists on two computers running etch
1) i386, athlon 2500+, NVidia GeForce-4 Ti-4200 (AGP)
2) amd64, athlon 3000+, NVidia GeForce 6100 (Onboard)

But not on five others computers with i915 cards.

All those computers has the same package versions (etch, updated daily).

Version: 1:0.5.1-5

Hello.

Startup script has /bin/sh set as interpreter but it doesn't work
if /bin/sh isn't bash.
For example, after apt-get install dash and reconfiguring dash to
be /bin/sh I receive

/etc/init.d/camserv-relay: 24: source: not found
[: 85: remote.camserve.host: unexpected operator

when trying to start camserv-relay.

This problem does not occur when /bin/sh is bash.

Bug#403928: Language selection problem

2006-12-20 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: gnome-session
Version: 2.14.3-3

Today I faced strange problem with (I suppose) gnome-session:
After generating new locales and choosing language via gdm menu for
current session, gnome starts, but I receiving a borderless (ie it
happens before starting window manager) window with a message: "Language
does not exist; using System default" and everything
reverting to default language.

Locale itself works perfectly, i.e. I'm able to run
`LANG= date' and I receive correct output.

I tried zh_CN, zh_CN.UTF-8, en_US, en_US.UTF-8 -- the same result.
But ru_UA.UTF-8 works fine for me.

Bug#403735: gnome-screensaver: unusable with empty password

2006-12-19 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: gnome-screensaver
Version: 2.14.3-3
Severity: important

Gnome-screensaver has very nasty bug: it doesn't allow user with empty
password to unlock locked screen, regardless of nullok
in /etc/pam.d/common-auth.

So after a fresh install passwordless user can go away from the computer
for, say, 30 minutes; screensaver automatically runs and voila -- user
can't return to his desktop.

Just pressing Enter in unlock dialog always results in "incorrect
password".

Bug#403736: please improve .desktop

Package: gthumb

In most languages in .desktop-file, gthumb has name which mentions
application name, like `gThumb image viewer'. But in russian, it's just
`image viewer'. eog has the same description ant this confuses users;
having two menu items with the same name is definitely not very good
idea. Can you modify russian description, like, `Просмотр изображений
(gThumb)'?

Bug#390131: Strange locale-related problem with new FreeTDS

2006-09-29 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: libct3
Version: 0.63-3

Hello.
After upgrading freetds (libct3) to version 0.63-3 I faced one strange
but very serious problem.

All perl scripts using libdbd-sybase-perl now producing a warning about
encoding (like this):

Sybase.DatabaseError: Msg 2409, Level 11, State 2, Line 2
Cannot find the requested character set in Syscharsets: name =
'ANSI_X3.4-1968'.
Msg 2411, Level 10, State 1, Line 2
No conversions will be done.

(ISO-8859-1 instead of ANSI_X3.4-1968 if script has been launched in
en_US locale instead of C/POSIX).

(unofficial) python-sybase produces the same error and dying.

Seems Sybase ASE has "iso_1" as data encoding; adding "client charset =
iso_1" in /etc/freetds/freetds.conf or /etc/freetds/locales.conf desn't
help.

This module would be really really helpful.

Thanks a lot.

Bug#388729: udev + libnss_ldap slowing down booting (15 minutes!)

2006-09-22 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: udev
Version: 0.100-1

I have libnss_ldap and udev on testing. After upgrading udev to recent
version and reboot ing bootup process took about 15 minutes for
following reason:

udev on start tried to resolve some groups like 'scanner', 'nvram',
'tss' which doesn't exist. Because of /etc/nsswitch.conf containing
following lines:
passwd: compat ldap
group: compat ldap
shadow: compat ldap
libnss_ldap lookup occured. But network wasn't brought up at that time!
LDAP lookup failed, and libnss_ldap retried four times with increasing
timeouts.
Each failed lookup took about 2 mins. (64+32+16+8+4+2 seconds). For 7 or
8 failed lookups it took about 15 minutes.

Bug#388449: Wodim should provide cdrecord

2006-09-20 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: wodim
Version: 5:1.0~pre4-1
Severity: important

There are about 20 debian packages depends on cdrecord; since wodim
provides cdrecord binary, all those packages shouldn't notice any
changes, but since all of them depends on package 'cdrecord', it's
necessary to either fix dependencies in all those packages or add
"Provides: cdrecord" to wodim.
Without this change, upgrading to wodim will remove cd burning GUIs for
both Gnome and KDE.

Bug#376426: libnss-ldap: Can't login even as local user

2006-08-31 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Ok, +1.

using ldap instead of ldaps solves the problem.
With `ldaps', system quickly runs out of entropy
(/proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail falls down to ~200 and this
number grows very slow).
With `ldap', entropy level in ~15 secs becomes ~3500

Well, disabling TLS is workaround, not solution anyway. What's wrong
with entropy?

Bug#376426: In the same boat...

After upgrading libnss-ldap to 251-5 users are unable to login and no

login asks for username and password, shows motd and returns to username

all programs run by users already logged in just silently quits.

I was forced to downgrade to 238-1.2, which works just fine.

My /etc/libnss-ldap.conf is 3 lines long:

and passwd/shadow/group in /etc/nsswitch.conf is 'compat ldap'

Package: exim4-daemon-heavy
Version: 4.62-2

Hello.

Can you please build exim4(-daemon-heavy) with spf enabled?
Yes, I read #258210, but things changed a bit since 2004.
1) No one is nether forced to use SPF checks, nor exim4-daemon-heavy
2) It's not a problem; -heavy already has a lot of deps, but who cares?
Why one small lib should be a problem?
3) Wrong. For example, I'm using mail cluster, so with spfd I have to
run one instance of spfd on every machine
4) Same thing
5) Once again, nobody is forced to use spf checks; Just allow people to
use it

Both of my etch machines running X has the same problem: attemplt to add

gdm restart (like Ctrl-alt-backspace does).
Moreover, starting a new session is impossible: after logging in gnome

from ~/.gconf/.../*.xml by hands.

Both machines has almost the same hardware (Athlon-64 3000+ processors,

2006-06-01 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: linux-image-2.6.15-1-686
Version: 2.6.15-8

Recently I upgraded four of my machines to etch; three of them are ok,
but one doesn't boot with new kernel 2.6.15.
Boot process stops at "waiting for root filesystem", long pause and
"no /dev/hda1" message; after this, I receive a busybox shell.

in busybox, one can see /dev handled by udev and, really, no /dev/hd* at
all. insmod /lib/modules/.../ide-disk.ko fixes the situation: /dev/hd*
appearing and one can press ctrl-D to continue booting.

rebuilding initrd with ide-disk added to /etc/mkinitramfs/modules also
fixes the situation; booting wents ok (except long pause while "waiting
for root filesystem").

This problem exists with 2.6.15 only (both image from etch and
backports.org image for sarge), bot not with any other kernel (2.6.8-*
from sarge, 2.6.16 from backports.org)

2006-03-01 Thread Alexander Vlasov
Package: powersaved

powersaved init script, lines 84-85, contains a list of CPUFREQ modules
to probe.
This list is missing at least one module, p4-clockmod, which one I use on my
laptop (Compaq Presario 2209CL). speedstep-centrino does not works for
me.
So current init script prints error message about not available device
during modprobe speedstep_centrino. Solution is quite simple -- just
modify init script and add a p4-clockmod module in list:
