Thanks for the help. Yeah someone made a fork to pull in the awaiting
merges, I'll check it out and see how it works and consider switching
upstreams.

Hi, i was having trouble finding a sponsor as the sponsor i had was having
health issues (I'm only dm, not dd). This software seems to have died
upstream, but a fork is in progress so switching upstream sources might be
in order. I'll have a look at it next week.

Bug#944011: locales: Other Scandinavian languages should not be fallback language for Norwegian

2019-11-02 Thread Andreas Noteng
Package: locales
Version: 2.28-10
Severity: minor
Tags: l10n

If installing Debian choosing Norwegian Bokmål as your system language
the other Scandinavian langiages are defined as fallback languages if
translations are missing:
LANGUAGE="nb_NO:nb:no_NO:no:nn_NO:nn:da:sv:en"

Allthough very similar the other scandinavian languages are not suited
as fallbacks for technical texts. I usually have to prepend LANG=C to
whichever command I am running in these cases in order to understand the
exact details of the messages. I suggest removing "da" and "sv" from the
above string. If the same is the case for Norwegian Nynorsk, Swedish and
Danish I'd suggest doing the same for those languages as well.

Bug#875176: [scantailor] Future Qt4 removal from Buster

2019-09-25 Thread Andreas Noteng
The package for scantailor-advanced is almost done. Since I'm only a DM I'd

upload privileges for later revisions.
I'll wait for the next upstream release before pushing for a upload. I have
currently packaged for a pre-release.

Bug#940329: (no subject)

2019-09-15 Thread Andreas Noteng
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Noteng

* Package name: scantailor-advanced
  Version : 1.0.17~2019.08.16-1
  Upstream Author : 4lex4 <4le...@zoho.com>
* URL : https://github.com/4lex4/scantailor-advanced/
* License : GPL3+
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : Interactive post-processing tool for scanned pages

Scan Tailor is an interactive post-processing tool for scanned pages. It
performs operations such as page splitting, deskewing, adding/removing
borders, and others. You give it raw scans, and you get pages ready to be
printed or assembled into a PDF or DJVU file. Scanning, optical character
recognition, and assembling multi-page documents are out of scope of this
project.

The current scantailor package in Debain is removed from stable and
testing due to it blocking QT4-removal (#875176). The project is not
dead upstream, but development is going slow. Scantailor Advanced is a
fork that uses QT5, and also includes some extended features.

Bug#897088: transgui: new upstream home / new release

2018-04-30 Thread Andreas Noteng
Dear Graham,

I am aware of the fork, and I have previously considered switching upstream
sources. Last time I checked the fork was developed by people not using
Linux, and Linux testing was hardly done. Also, they never asked the
original developer for permisission to continue development under the same
name.
Mr. Sidorov (the original author) has not abandoned the project, but states
a lack of time. He has been responsive fixing bugs in Debian that I have
contacted him about. This would have been so much easier if the fork
continued development under a new name, then we could have both in Debian.
It looks like there are more developers for the fork now, so maybe it is
worth looking into it again.

Sincerely,
Andreas

I'm sorry. I god stuck on trying to make the package uphold the DFSG
(minified javascrips), and real life got in the way of finishing the

better spent improving the packages I allready maintain. If nobody

Dear Martin,

I'm unable to reproduce this behavior on Debian 8.2 with Pyspread-1.0-1
and python-gnupg-0.3.8-1 installed.
I have tried saving and reopening files with different keys without any
troubble. Any special steps needed to reproduce? Or, is this only an
issue under certain gnupg/keyring conditions?

Sincerely
Andreas Noteng

It makes sense, but is this documented somewhere? I have done updates

Thanks for your patience :-)

 Debdiff between the package currently in testing and the 3.1.0-1

Yea, I know. Should have uploaded it two years ago. There doesn't seem
to be much activity upstream, so I guess this page will eventually go

Thanks for the upload. Wouldn't it be just as easy to upload the
3.1.0-1 package to unstable right away? If the release team agrees
with the unblock for testing or not, I still want the updated package

 This needs to be fixed in wheezy too ( or only :-))

Bashburn never existed in squeeze, and should not be affected by an
upgrade to Wheezy. Mybashburn was removed and has not existed in
Debian since Squeeze. These are not the same packages, but mybashburn
is a fork from bashburn which has since died upstream.

Since mybashburn was removed I see no harm in including a replaces:
mybashburn in the bashburn package. I consider this change very low
importance. Do you guys still think I should release a new stable
revision? If so, a sponsorship or upload permissions for the package
(I'm a dm) would be greatly appreciated. I will update the package to
the latest upstream version in testing.

Please preapprove unblock on package bashburn
I packaged this almost two years ago. I had some problems finding a sponsor and
forgot about the package after a while. I now have a sponsor willing to upload
the package. The old version currently in testing really should be updated
before the release.

The attached diff is against 3.0.1-2 whitch currently awaiting approval for
upload to stable.

 Thank you in advance,

From upstream:
Could you ask the OP to try out the following:

import wx
a = wx.App()
i = wx.SYS_COLOUR_GRAYTEXT
c = wx.SystemSettings.GetColour(i)
rgb = c.GetRGB()

If any of these steps fail then it is a wxPython problem.
If I could get the error messages and the types and values of i, c and
rgb then I would fix the issue in the next release.

Could the OP also state the output of
wx.version()
so that we know exactly which wx version is actually employed?

 Dear maintainer,

 I've uploaded the previous NMU for transgui (versioned as 3.2-1.1)
 to DELAYED/5. Please feel free to tell me if I should delay it longer.

 Regards.
Your patch was included in the recent upload to Ubuntu. The reason I've
uploaded to Ubuntu was to get it in there in time for Precise release.
The reason I've not uploaded to Debian yet, is that I'm waiting for my
sponsor to reply. If you have upload rights; would you please instead
upload the package available in the git repo:
git://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/transmission-remote-gui.git ?
There's a release ready, but untagged in master.

Regards
Andreas Noteng

PS! transgui v. 4 will be released by upstream within a week or so..

 It does some fixes and adds some new functionality to checkinstall.
 Below I will describe each case.

Looks good! I'll have a look at it tonight. Have you tried to send this
patch(es) upstream (separate issues should have separate patches)?
Development upstream is slow, but it's still alive. The upstream bug

Bug#666726: debian-policy: Clarify if empty control fields are ollowed or not

2012-04-01 Thread Andreas Noteng
Package: debian-policy
Severity: minor

The policy does not clearly state if empty control fields in debian/control are
allowed or not. dpkg accepts te use of empty fields, apt does not.
IMHO empty control fields are bad practice, and should explicitly not be
allowed.

This bug is of relevance to checkinstall bug #666262

Bug#666262: checkinstall: Empty fields choke apt*

2012-03-30 Thread Andreas Noteng
On 30. mars 2012 07:18, spikethehobbitmage.excite wrote:
 checkinstall generates debian/control files with empty fields.
 dpkg accepts these packages OK, but apt and friends choke on them. This
 means that although these packages can be installed manually, they cannot be
 added to a repository.
 The a href=http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-controlfields.html;
 spec/a isn't clear if empty fields are allowed or not.
I've checked the policy, and as you say; it isn't clear. IMHO this is a
bug in the policy, or in apt. I get the feeling that the intention is
that control fields should not be empty, and if so, this is a
checkinstall bug.

Could you please provide me with a step by step way to recreate such a
package, and I'll forward it upstream (even if it turns out empty fields
are allowed and should be tolerated by apt; it is, in my opinion, bad
practice to include them)

Severity: normal
Tags: l10n

If Norwegian nynorsk is selected during install of current testing, the keymap
is set to english in the installer, console and X. If special characters are
used in the
password set during install, this will not be what the user expects it to be.
The keymap can be corrected by editing /etc/default/keyboard.

Bug#653777: transgui: Systray icon background inconsistent in Gnome Classic

2012-01-15 Thread Andreas Noteng
I can confirm your findings, but I'm unable to figure out where the
non-transparent icon comes from. the difference between my package and
the one from transgui is that I convert the .ico file from the
orig.tar.gz to .xpm, to comply with the debian policy. However, I've
checked, and the resulting xpm has a transparent background. I'll
investigate further..

I'm sorry, but rebuilding transgui with the current fpc creates a bug
which makes it almost useless, at least on amd64. I've sent one more

If it comes down to removing the package, would I as the maintainer have

 oauth (as found in python-oauth), and tlslite (which isn't packaged
 separately yet).
As far as I can see, only tlslite imports Crypto. Tlslite seems to be
already packaged for debian, but it seems to have been stuck in the new
queue for more than four months now [1]. Anything we can do to rush that?
I have removed oauth from gdata, and it seems to work, I'll commit it
once I know for sure.
Once python-tlslite gets accepted, both tlslite and Crypto can be
removed from the gdata package

Bug#586505: ITP: python-easygui - A module for very simple, very easy GUI programming in Python

2010-06-20 Thread Andreas Noteng
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

EasyGUI is a module for very simple, very easy GUI programming in Python.

Experienced Pythonistas need support for quick and dirty GUI features.
New Python programmers need GUI capabilities that don't require any
knowledge of Tkinter, frames, widgets, callbacks or lambda. This is what
EasyGUI provides. Using EasyGUI, all GUI interactions are invoked by
simple function calls.

EasyGUI is different from other GUIs in that EasyGUI is NOT
event-driven. It allows you to program in a traditional linear fashion,
and to put up dialogs for simple input and output when you need to. If
you have not yet learned the event-driven paradigm for GUI programming,
EasyGUI will allow you to be productive with very basic tasks
immediately. Later, if you wish to make the transition to an
event-driven GUI paradigm, you can do so with a more powerful GUI
package such as anygui, PythonCard, Tkinter, wxPython, etc.

EasyGUI is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 License

My package is available here: http://www.noteng.no/deb/python-easygui/
