Bug#661701: should be allowed to be used with wader instead of modemmanager

2012-02-29 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: prepaid-manager-applet
Version: 0.0.3.1-1
Severity: normal

The package has a versioned dependency on modemmanager and no
alternative, so it pulls modemmanager even if wader-core is already
installed.

P.S. I couldn't manage to get it working with either of them, by the
way, but that's a different topic to discuss.

Bug#661591: packages providing ifupdown scripts must have those scripts fixed if needed

2012-02-28 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: general
Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Starting with the last beta, ifupdown calls run-parts for if-*.d scripts
with --exit-on-error, so if the script fails, interface isn't marked as
configured (see #547587).

However, it's been reported that some scripts return wrong exit codes
sometimes, causing failure during network configuration.

Here's the list of packages providing ifupdown scripts:

 * avahi-autoipd
 * avahi-daemon
 * bind9
 * bridge-utils
 * clamav-freshclam
 * controlaula
 * epoptes-client
 * ethtool
 * firestarter
 * gogoc
 * hostapd
 * hostap-utils
 * ifenslave-2.6
 * ifmetric
 * ifupdown-extra
 * ifupdown-scripts-zg2
 * initscripts
 * isatapd
 * linux-wlan-ng
 * lprng
 * ltsp-server
 * masqmail
 * miredo
 * ntpdate
 * openntpd
 * openssh-server
 * openvpn
 * postfix
 * resolvconf
 * samba
 * sendmail-base
 * shorewall-init
 * slrn
 * slrnpull
 * tinc
 * tipcutils
 * ucarp
 * uml-utilities
 * vde2
 * vlan
 * vzctl
 * whereami
 * wide-dhcpv6-client
 * wireless-tools
 * wpasupplicant

I'd like to ask maintainers to check scripts in their packages, and
fix issues they find if there are any.

Thanks in advance.

Bug#659185: mouse click after scrolling causes additional page jump

2012-02-08 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

Version: 1.5.0+git20120101-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

Tried to use X.org from experimental, and noticed an annoying bug:
if I scroll, for example, a webpage in a browser using synaptics
touchpad (doesn't depend whether it's one- or two-finger scroll mode),
and after that I perform a mouse click, I get additional page-up (or
sometimes page-down) event. Downgrading X.org to a version from unstable
reverted everything back to normal.

Bug#657675: htop: crash on process kill

2012-01-27 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: htop
Version: 1.0-1
Severity: normal

Just experienced a crash of a new htop. I had a tree of processes like:

qqq
`-qqq
  `-aaa
  `-bbb
  `-ccc1
  | `-ccc2
  `-ddd

Tried to kill ccc2, I didn't achieve what I wanted, so I killed bbb as
well so that qqq would finally find that out and quit. Just a second
after I sent the signal, htop crashed with:

htop 1.0 aborting. Please report bug at http://htop.sf.net
Backtrace:

Nothing more meaningful yet, sorry, will try to get more trace.

I suppose that as already-dead process was highlighted, htop tried to
update some info about it, and error checking failed somewhere, so that
resulted in crash.

I will post some update here if I get any more information.

Bug#654515: don't pass preferIPv4Stack=true to java

2012-01-03 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: josm
Version: 0.0.svn4666+dfsg1-1

Currently, /usr/bin/josm wrapper script does the following:

  JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
-Djava.net.useSystemProxies=true"

This is wrong, IPv6 should be preferred, not IPv4. At any rate, this
can be configurable and not hard-coded in the wrapper script. Please
remove this setting.

Bug#648279: retitle 648279 to make ccze not exit immediately on EOF, severity of 648279 is wishlist

2011-11-10 Thread Andrew O . Shadura
retitle 648279 make ccze not exit immediately on EOF
severity 648279 wishlist
thanks

Hello,

It turns out ccze is actually working, but I guess it's a bug
in its logic. ccze quits as soon as both stdin is in EOF state,
and everything's coloured and printed out. In my opinion, it's
extremely confusing behaviour, as it the case the file is short
enough, there isn't even a sign ccze actually worked.

Bug#648279: ccze's curses mode doesn't work any more

2011-11-10 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: ccze
Version: 0.2.1-2
Severity: normal

I was using ANSI mode mostly for a long time, but today I needed to use ccze in
its curses mode, and found out it no longer works. It just doesn't give
me any output or, when I run it in xterm instead of roxterm, the
terminal blinks for a moment, and returns me back to the shell prompt.

Bug#645924: modprobe: unclear warning text wording, please rephrase

2011-10-19 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: module-init-tools
Version: 3.16-1
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream

Modprobe issues a warning like this:

WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/no-speaker, it
will be ignored in a future release.

The meaning of this message wasn't clear to be until I asked on
#debian-devel. My original understanding of it was that /etc/modprobe.d
is being deprecated, not that every files should have .conf extension.

It might be better to rephrase the error message to something like:

All configuration files under /etc/modprobe.d should have .conf
extension; otherwise they will be ignored in a future release.

Thanks.

fixes the problem, so I guess we should reassing this bug to mono.

I guess virtualbox isn't the reason for this bug as it wasn't running
at that very moment, I've just left the module loaded. I will try but I
can't guarantee I will catch it again here.

Hendrik, what dhcp client are you using? Does it have an option to
specify the DHCP reply timeout?

Bug#643835: Acknowledgement (backlight brightness is not restored on resume and lid open (Dell D620))

reassign 643835 linux-image-3.1.0-rc4-686-pae

Well, now I see two directories under /sys/class/backlight:
dell_backlight and intel_backlight. Usually, both work. But after I
close lid and open it again (or, for example, xscreensaver turns the
display off), the first one stops working.

Also, it seems to happen when I have DISPLAY_DPMS=xset

partially) fix the problem. More details to come.

Bug#643835: backlight brightness is not restored on resume and lid open (Dell D620)

2011-09-30 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.16.0-1
Severity: normal

(Well, I suppose the bug isn't really about Intel driver, but that was
the easiest way to get X-specific system information into the report, so
please re-assign the bug to an appropriate package.)

After recent upgrade (not sure what was it, the kernel 2.6.38 ->
3.1.0-rc4, or X.org), backlight brightness stopped restoring to
its value.

More over, I can't tune it via dellBacklight utility, kernel sysfs variable or
using the hotkeys; but xbacklight -set 100 returns it back to the maximum value.

I'm afraid of upgrading X, frankly speaking, because previous time I
did that I got many compatibility problems. Maybe this time it'll be
better.

Newer ones have troubles with resume from suspend-to-RAM. Quite often I
system can't do that correctly; and no, I haven't yet reported a bug
because of lack of the info what was actually happening, and lack of
the time to do investigation.

That was for SHMConfig... Is it enabled by default now?

Bug#642510: mouse cursor starts jumping ±5px when panning is enabled

2011-09-23 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: x11-xserver-utils
Version: 7.5+2
Severity: normal

(Well, it's not really xrandr bug, but of some underlying subsystem, but
I don't know what package to report this bug against.)

My system sometimes has two displays: a built-it LCD of 1440x900px
connected via LVDS, and an external VGA of 1024x768px which is switched
into panning mode:

xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1024x768 --panning 1440x900

This setting makes my mouse cursor jump for approximately 5px back and
forth about 5 times a second every time it reaches the border of the
current window displayed on the secondary (smaller) screen.

As I understand this thing, first the mouse cursor moves out of the
window, and something returns it back, then moves the window (does the
panning), and then returns the cursor back to the position it was
before, and that happens again and again.

I've spent about half an hour trying different mouses, enabling and
disabling both my trackpoint and touchpad before I noticed this happens
in the very same areas of the screen every time. And only then I guessed
what it can be and checked what my secondary screen displays.

Please, reassign this bug to the appropriate package and forward it to
the upstream, as it's very annoying.

Thanks,

Andrew

Why not make a single package e.g. node-utils which would include many
such small libraries, just like tcllib does? I suppose most of those
script aren't or particularly big size so shipping them as a zillion
packages doesn't really make any sense.

Yes, upgrading libvte9 from 1:0.24.3-1 to 1:0.28.1-2 helped.

P.S. Sorry for the date, my system clock was misconfigured.

Bug#432479: ifupdown: ifup doesn't work after waking up from sleep

2011-09-09 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Hello,

Please use ifplugd if your interface goes down after suspend. Ifupdown
doesn't deal with that.

It is noted in the bug title:

And, as grep tells me, it's not supported.

$ avrdude -p help -c usbtiny 2>&1 |grep 48
  t4   = ATtiny4 [/etc/avrdude.conf:16748]
  m645 = ATMEGA645   [/etc/avrdude.conf:14801]
  m16u2 = ATmega16U2  [/etc/avrdude.conf:14248]
  m88p = ATMEGA88P   [/etc/avrdude.conf:8486]
  m48  = ATMEGA48[/etc/avrdude.conf:8113]
  m329 = ATMEGA329   [/etc/avrdude.conf:5483]

So, not really all of them added, as I understand.

thanks

Closing this bug as it seems like there's no high demand in this library to be
packaged.

Bug#639024: add option to remove/change hg commit prefix

2011-08-23 Thread Andrew O. Shadura
Package: hgsvn
Version: 0.1.8-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: upstream

It'd quite annoying that each and every commit has the commit message
prepended by [svn %d]. Please add an option to allow changing it (the
prefix is held in the hg_commit_prefix variable).
