Bug#1069598: missing files on smb shares with linux kernel 6.1.0-20
Hi, I can reproduce this error when running linux-image-6.1.0-20-amd64: some files on mounted smb shares are not visible. These are the log entries on a client maching (not the server), when trying to access the missing files on a mounted cifs share: CIFS: VFS: directory entry name would overflow frame end of buf 7153a3e1 [... repeated several times ...] There are no such errors and no missing files when downgrading to linux-image-6.1.0-18-amd64 on the client (the server is still running kernel version 6.1.0-20). I guess there is a new but sometimes broken overflow detection in the cifs filesystem code. Regards, Bastian

Package: wnpp Severity: normal -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 I intend to orphan the fiaif package since I am stepping down as Debian maintainer due to lack of time. Please note that fiaif is not developed actively upstream anymore. The package description is: Fiaif is an Intelligent Firewall. . Unlike many other scripts, FIAIF can be truly customized allowing multiple interfaces (or rather zones). There is no limit on the number of zones. All configuration is done through configuration files. No need to understand the script behind it all. . The script makes heavy use of state-full firewalling, and all RELATED and ESTABLISHED packets are accepted on all chains. If you wish to block something out, don't accept it in the first place. . The script is written in BASH. Though this is not the optimal program to use, it means that you do not need to install extra interpreters on your firewall. This allows you to have a minimalistic installation on your firewall. . The package description is: This module is aimed at environments with central file servers that a user wishes to mount on login and unmount on logout, such as (semi-)diskless stations where many users can logon. . Bug#702029: ITP: patool -- portable archive file manager for the commandline console
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Bastian Kleineidam cal...@debian.org -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 * Package name: patool Version : 1.0 Upstream Author : Bastian Kleineidam cal...@debian.org * URL : http://wummel.github.com/patool/ * License : GPL Programming Lang: Python Description : portable archive file manager for the commandline console Various archive formats can be created, extracted, tested, listed, searched, compared and repacked by patool. The advantage of patool is its simplicity in handling archive files without having to remember a myriad of programs and options. The archive format is determined by the file(1) program and as a fallback by the archive file extension. patool supports 7z (.7z), ACE (.ace), ADF (.adf), ALZIP (.alz), APE (.ape), AR (.a), ARC (.arc), ARJ (.arj), BZIP2 (.bz2), CAB (.cab), compress (.Z), CPIO (.cpio), DEB (.deb), DMS (.dms), FLAC (.flac), GZIP (.gz), ISO (.iso), LRZIP (.lrz), LZH (.lha, .lzh), LZIP (.lz), LZMA (.lzma), LZOP (.lzo), RPM (.rpm), RAR (.rar), RZIP (.rz), SHN (.shn), TAR (.tar), XZ (.xz), ZIP (.zip, .jar) and ZOO (.zoo) formats. It relies on helper applications to handle those archive formats (for example bzip2 for BZIP2 archives). The archive formats TAR (.tar), ZIP (.zip), BZIP2 (.bz2) and GZIP (.gz) are supported natively and do not require helper applications to be installed. [Note] The package is inspired by the atool package. The advantages over atool are: - - Support for a lot more formats - - Support for repacking - - Support for comparing two archives - - Support for searching in archives -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAlExEgMACgkQeBwlBDLsbz5PkgCfRyCRJqrnE/kvlTUO2jtEe3Qw 2nUAn3bq8URVRLYsQTLVACP6aM4Mf5Pp =ASwk -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#452484: dosage: Multiplexing option similar to make -j 4
Hello, some more info on why this is tagged wontfix: - As Tristan already said it would require substantial work to implement this feature in the program itself. - The default timeout is now 60 seconds instead of 300 seconds. - You could split your comic list manually in 4 parts and start dosage four times in different processes. This should require 5-10 minutes of work. Regards, Bastian signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Unfortunately the Perl and Python https libraries are using libssl. In fact that is when I first noticed the bug: my custom python script could not login to Sourceforge anymore. So I think someone at sourceforge will have to take a look at this. This upstream bug seems to be the same problem: http://rt.openssl.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=2771user=guestpass=guest Unfortunately the developer does not seem to see that as a regression :-/ I guess the best choice for me right now is to keep using v1.0.0h. Hi, after reading the Ubuntu bug report I am confused. In what way is an error message making the boot experience less than optimal? About the patch: silencing a boot script completely so it cannot print error or warning message makes the boot experience worse. I just fixed successfully a kernel panic while booting which was caused by this resume script (see my other bug report #588466). So please do not apply this patch. Error and warning messages are useful. Regards, Bastian

Bug#580434: su: dropping privileges before calling pam_close_session() does not play nice with libpam-mount
Hi, the title says it all: the su program drops privileges and calls pam_close_session() without root permissions. This causes bogus errors in other the pam mould libpam-mount (which needs the permissions to unmount volumes). This seems a duplicate of the archived bug #195048, but this bug is rather old. So I am not reopening, or merging those two. Regards, Bastian signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

The options fsk_cipher and fsk_hash are duplicates of fskeycipher and fskeyhash, so I am wondering why you added them. After this unsatisfactory result i updated libpam-mount to version 1.18 Please test with official Debian packages, unless you want to take this problem to the official mailing list. I will package libpam-mount 1.10 when there is a safe upgrade path for the new cmtab code (ie.a fallback to mtab). But why is a loop device attached to my LUKS partition? Is it not enough if only the LUKS partition is mounted and not another loop device on top of it? What is your exact setup after mounting? I assume the following /my/encrypted.img (loop) /dev/loop0 (luks) /dev/mapper/_my_enrypted_img (loop) /dev/loop1 If this is the case, the second /dev/loop1 mount is indeed unneeded. At the moment i am searching for the place in the sources where the (second) loop device (/dev/loop1) is attached to my LUKS partition. Do you have a hint where i could search? Is this only occuring in the 1.18 codebase, or in 1.10 also? Regards, Bastian signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
