Bug#769947: mate-terminal: Not related to xmonad for me

2014-11-27 Thread Ben Whyall
Package: mate-terminal
Version: 1.8.1+dfsg1-2
Followup-For: Bug #769947

Hi Alex

To confirm that I dont have either xmonad or marco installed.

I am probably an edge case in that I am running mate under E17 as my desktop
environment.

If you like I can try and get the code and build it and see if it works.

Though it might be the wekeend before I can manage it.

I downloaded the jdk 7 u 6 package from the oracle site and attempted to run
make-jpkg and it comes back and tells me no plugins found.

Is this because I am trying to use a currently unsupported version of the jdk ?

Bug#678220: [Bash-completion-devel] Bug#678220: bash-completion: when running aptitude purge tab I get error

2012-06-20 Thread Ben Whyall
Hi David

I attempted to reproduce the problem to provide the debug output you
requested.

I could not reproduce it in a new terminal. So I returned to the original
and the problem was there. However upon closing and reopening it the
problem went away.

So I suggest closing the bug as unreprucible.

Sorry for wasting your time.

Ben

I ran an safe-upgrade on my system today and I am now recieving an error from

as well as multiple instance of error: unknown LVM metadataheader, I get the
following 2 lines appear for 2 of the 3 devices that I try and install grub

/usr/svin/grub-setup warn: Your core.img is unusually large. It wont fit in
the embedding area.
/usr/sbin/grub-setup warn: Embedding is not possible. Grub can only be
installed in this setup by using blocklists. However blocklists are unreliable

Then it tells me that it has failed to install GRUB on my devices and asks me

Bug#643790: [Pkg-cups-devel] Bug#643790: Bug#643790: /usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf failed when printing via samba to cups pdf

2011-10-02 Thread Ben Whyall

Hi Ben,

I am the developer of CUPS-PDF.
I have been following this bug but not been able to reproduce it so far.
There is one question that might help to narrow down the possible
culprit: when printig via Samba, the username is whyteb. Is this user
known on your Linux box or is it supposed to do an anonymous printout?

In case it is supposed to be an anonymous printout: what are the
ownership/permissions on /home/ben/PDFS (if that exists at all) as well
as /home/ben and /home? And is /home/ben a local filesystem or some
Samba/NFS/... volume?

Regards,
Volker

Hi Volker

The user whyteb is my windows username on my corporate machine. It
should be an anonymous print out as I share my printers to anyone on my
local network or I am trying to.

The /home/ben directory is a local filesystem on the CUPS box.

The permissions on /home/ben/PDFS/ are drwx-- ben ben
The permissions on /home/ben/ are drwxr-xr-x ben ben
The permisions on /home are drwxr-xr-x root root.

2011-10-02 Thread Ben Whyall
Package: cups-pdf
Followup-For: Bug #643790

Dear Maintainer,

I dont know whether it is deliberate but I did an update and picked up a new
version of cups-pdf. I accepted the maintainers version of the config.

Since then I have verfied that all of my desired print options now work. These
being direct printing from the machine running cups, printing from a linux
machine over the network, printing from a windows vm on the host machine and a
stand alone windows machine.

Thanks very much for your help with this issue.

2011-09-30 Thread Ben Whyall

The CUPS log mentions that the cups-pdf backend crashed with error 11,
while the CUPS-PDF log says that it succesfully printed the file.
Contradicting. Could you try the following steps:

1. sudo /etc/init.d/cups stop
2. sudo rm -r /var/log/cups/*
3. Uncomment LogType in /etc/cups/cups-pdf.conf and change its value
to 7 then save the file.
4. sudo /etc/init.d/cups start
5. Print one sample document locally.

(re-enable the PDF backend if necessary, if CUPS disabled it in
response to an unexpected situation)

6. Print the exact same document over Samba.
7. sudo /etc/init.d/cups stop
8. e-mail /var/log/cups/cups-pdf_log and /var/log/cups/error_log to
643...@bugs.debian.org again.

Thanks!
Martin-Éric

I have followed those steps as you asked, trying to print the bbc news

Thanks for the report. We believe this is caused by a missing
dependency on the package librsvg2-common, which contains the code
GTK+ uses to load SVG images. Could you try installing this and see if
you still experience the crash?

Let me know.

Cheers,

If that's not it then the problem may not be recorded in the trace. Not
sure how to debug then.

Hi Julien

Just some additional information the mouse, keyboard is a microsoft
wireless desktop and connected via a bluetooth usb dongle.

Also it is connected via a kvm, I am pretty sure I havent switched mid
trace, but I wonder if its worth trying to reproduce this without the
kvm in the way.
