Bug#637971: python-web2py: fails to start (ImportError: No module named gluon.widget)

2011-08-15 Thread Benjamin Maisonnas
Package: python-web2py
Version: 1.98.2-1
Severity: important

hi,

after a fresh install of python-web2py, simply execute $web2py and you should
get:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File /usr/bin/web2py, line 117, in module
import gluon.widget
ImportError: No module named gluon.widget

it can be resolved easily:
localhost:/# update-python-modules python-gluon

anyway, here is some more info just in case:
steve@localhost:~$ ls /usr/share/python-support/ | grep gluon
python-gluon
steve@localhost:~$ ls /usr/share/pyshared | grep gluon
steve@localhost:~$ locate widget.py | grep gluon
/usr/share/python-support/python-gluon/gluon/contrib/taskbar_widget.py
/usr/share/python-support/python-gluon/gluon/widget.py

cheers,
ben

Bug#594772: gajim: version = 0.13.4 should recommend python-openssl = 0.9

2010-08-29 Thread Benjamin Maisonnas
Package: gajim
Version: 0.13.4-1+b1
Severity: normal

Hi,

Starting with gajim 0.13.4, ssl support requires python-openssl = 0.9 for
OpenSSL.SSL.OP_NO_TICKET to be defined. See bug #5689[1].
Testing and sid have 0.13.4 and python-openssl 0.10, so most users won't have
any problem regarding this bug. However, anyone pulling gajim 0.13.4 from
stable won't be able to use ssl.

Bug#566023: Info received (Bug#566203: wicd 1.7 fails to start)

2010-01-23 Thread Benjamin MAISONNAS
Well, even after reinstall python-wicd (just in case), here is what I get :

print dbusmanager.__file__; print logfile.__file__
Traceback (most recent call last):
File string, line 1, in module
ImportError: cannot import name dbusmanager

I tried to check exactly which module is imported by python, see :
st...@localhost:~$ python -c import wicd.wpath; print wicd.wpath
module 'wicd.wpath' from '/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/wicd/wpath.pyc'

But from your example, I think it shall be the one found in here :
st...@localhost:~$ ls -l /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/wicd/ | grep .py$
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root35 23 janv. 11:41 backend.py -

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root33 23 janv. 11:41 wpath.py -
/usr/share/pyshared/wicd/wpath.py

Indeed :
st...@localhost:~$ less /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/wicd/wpath.py |
grep version
version = '1.7.0'

So, it seems that the wrong module (an older version maybe) is
imported, my python setup may be wrong or something. I didn't mess
with it in the past though.

Thanks

Right, done.

I suspect this has something to do with python-support.
 What version do you have?

The current one in Sid :

localhost:~# LANG=C aptitude show python-support | grep Version
Version: 1.0.6

I even ran update-python-modules, nothing changed.

What happens if you purge python-wicd, and then reinstall it?

Nothing better after purging and reinstalling.

 Also, see:

 $ dpkg -c ../../build-area/wicd_1.6.2.2-4_all.deb |grep python
 drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2010-01-23 11:28 ./usr/share/python-support/
 -rw-r--r-- root/root 879 2010-01-23 11:28 ./usr/share/python-

 i.e. there's no pythonX.Y/*-packages in the 1.6.2.2-4 package, thus I don't
think it's some old file staying around.

 Kindly,
 David
