Bug#714210: DRBD 8.3 userland incompatible with 8.4 kernel modules

2013-07-16 Thread Berni CED

Package: drbd8-utils
Version: 2:8.3.13-2
Followup-For: Bug #714210

I confirm this bug.

If you install drbd8-utils along with kernel 3.9.8-1 from sid and try to
use, for example, drbdadm, you'll get messages saying you should upgrade
drbd-tools. The bad thing happens when the tool try to talk to the
kernel module: it hangs waiting for a reply.

If you reboot with this package installed, you might not reach the login
prompt because the init script hangs on the kernel module, preventing
the login daemon to start. I had to login via ssh. For me this was

reproducible on two machine, with the package installed but not
customized yet.

Bug#694558: [Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#694558: samba: Inherit bit incorrect handling

No, we won't update to 3.6.9 in wheezy, sorry. that would be against
the freeze policy and therefore rejected by release managers.

Ok, and thank you anyway.

I would just make clear that the 3.6.9 version i've tested is from
Debian experimental, not from upstream.

Bug#694558: samba: Inherit bit incorrect handling

2012-11-27 Thread Berni CED
Package: samba
Version: 2:3.6.6-3
Severity: normal

Samba currently in Wheezy and Sid is affected by the following bug,
that upstream already resolved in 3.6.8:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9124

I've tested that in version 3.6.9 the bug is effectively resolved.

Please, could you consider upgrade to 3.6.9 in Wheezy or at least
backport the relevant patch to 3.6.6? It's a rather annoying problem.

Cesare.

Bug#687927: firmware-realtek: Missing rtl8411-1.fw and rtl8402-1.fw

2012-09-18 Thread Berni CED

Package: firmware-realtek
Version: 0.36
Followup-For: Bug #687927

I've downloaded the latest firmware from the upstream git repository
and now the network works:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git;a=summary

Ben, do you think that realtek-firmware in testing could be updated to
add support for this network card?

Just to help the casual reader, here it is what i've done:
- From the compressed upstream archive i've extraceted the following
firmware from the rtl_nic folder (those requested by the curses
  interface) to /root/:
  rtl8402-1.fw
  rtl8411-1.fw
- Under /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/ i've created symlinks to the files
extracted under /root/. Doing this i can visually recognize what i've
customized, helping restoring the original state.
- Reinstalled the latest kernel from experimental.
