We haven't found any time to work on it, propably there is something to fix while we link the libxul.so in the build of the Icedove packages. Regards Carsten I arrived here using the esr recommendations at http://mozilla.debian.net/ I will now forward the details to their mail list. Yes, it is the official lighting the add-ons procedure in icedove. Bug#730450: icedove: crash after updating 10-24 with lightning add on

Bug#681089: firmware-linux-nonfree: Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5722 dropped packets
Package: firmware-linux-nonfree Version: 0.35~bpo60+1 Severity: normal With standard squeeze kernel seemingly once a day the nic stops working. Looking at the switch port it seems the nic is transmitting (or retransmitting) something as fast as possible. A simple ifdown/ifup seems to cure for rest of working day. The latest backport kernel 3.2.20-1~bpo60+1 and firmware-linux-nonfree_0.35~bpo60+1 the nic does seems to be stable. iperf reports 1gb performance. However the count of dropped packets is not zero. I have changed cables and switch ports. There is another other gigabit nic on the switch. This is a nVidia Corporation MCP77 and this has no errors or dropped packets. I also have tried the module 3.122n from Broadcom. The nic stops working after a few minutes with the switch port showing rapid transmission sympton as per 1st para. Google seems to go for this: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=593035 A missing parameter is mentioned here: https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/2/24/73 grep NFS /boot/config-2.6.32-5-686 CONFIG_NFS_FS=m CONFIG_NFS_V3=y CONFIG_NFS_V3_ACL=y CONFIG_NFS_V4=y # CONFIG_NFS_V4_1 is not set CONFIG_NFS_FSCACHE=y CONFIG_NFSD=m CONFIG_NFSD_V2_ACL=y CONFIG_NFSD_V3=y CONFIG_NFSD_V3_ACL=y CONFIG_NFSD_V4=y CONFIG_NFS_ACL_SUPPORT=m CONFIG_NFS_COMMON=y CONFIG_NCPFS_NFS_NS=y Important to note that the next mount work perfectly. Bug#604698: Update: it IS fixed in wheezy for /
I tried this again using tar from wheezy on a new system. And yippee no segfault and the / incremental does seem to produce a valid incremental file. My missing step is to be sure to regenerate the snar data from the same version of tar. That means starting with a new fresh full backup! This behaviour is (kind of) implied here: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-tar/2010-05/msg00029.html So I think this version works when installed on squeeze: Package: tar Essential: yes Status: install ok installed Priority: required Section: utils Installed-Size: 2520 Maintainer: Bdale Garbee bd...@gag.com Architecture: i386 Version: 1.25-3 Replaces: cpio ( 2.4.2-39) Pre-Depends: libc6 (= 2.6) Suggests: bzip2, ncompress, xz-utils Breaks: dpkg-dev ( 1.14.26) Conflicts: cpio (= 2.4.2-38) Conffiles: /etc/rmt 3c58b7cd13da1085eff0acc6a00f43c7 Description: GNU version of the tar archiving utility Tar is a program for packaging a set of files as a single archive in tar format. The function it performs is conceptually similar to cpio, and to things like PKZIP in the DOS world. It is heavily used by the Debian package management system, and is useful for performing system backups and exchanging sets of files with others. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#570350: linux-image-2.6.26-2-amd64: kernel BUG at kernel/exit.c:822! PATCHES
The bug is still present in Google Chrome Stable version: 5.0.375.86 Ben Hutchings wrote: snip I think we should actually apply a second patch. So, please try the two attached patches snip Please test this fix by following the instructions at http://kernel-handbook.alioth.debian.org/ch-common-tasks.html#s-common-official I have enclosed those patches for the bug report. They were built on source containing linux-2.6_2.6.26-24.dsc and tested on two Amd SMPs: AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 1352 Prior to the patch I could sometimes force the kernel problem by opening Chrome say 4 times, open some sites, leave a while then closing all the chrome windows quickly. After two-ish days of pretty intense usage so far no repeat of the kernel BUG message. And for me these patches don't regress other things. BUT (and its a big BUT). Chrome 5 continues to use root setuid. So I doubt that this is the end of the kernel bug story. I have updated the Chrome fault log accordingly: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=35440 I really would be happier if there were no root setuid involved in a browser. Also I am not sure there is enough demand here to warrant a change to the production Debian kernels. Much as it hurts: The answer for me, at least until we understand a little more about the sandbox, is to simply avoid using Google Chrome. Wait and see? Berni From: Oleg Nesterov o...@tv-sign.ru Date: Tue, 2 Sep 2008 14:35:48 -0700 Subject: [PATCH 1/2] pid_ns: zap_pid_ns_processes: fix the -child_reaper changing commit add0d4dfd660e9e4fd0af3eac3cad23583c9558f upstream. zap_pid_ns_processes() sets pid_ns-child_reaper = NULL, this is wrong. Yes, we have already killed all tasks in this namespace, and sys_wait4() doesn't see any child. But this doesn't mean -children list is empty, we may have EXIT_DEAD tasks which are not visible to do_wait(). In that case the subsequent forget_original_parent() will crash the kernel because it will try to re-parent these tasks to the NULL reaper. Even if there are no childs, it is not good that forget_original_parent() uses reaper == NULL. Change the code to set -child_reaper = init_pid_ns.child_reaper instead. We could use pid_ns-parent-child_reaper as well, I think this does not really matter. These EXIT_DEAD tasks are not visible to the new -parent after re-parenting, they will silently do release_task() eventually. Note that we must change -child_reaper, otherwise forget_original_parent() will use reaper == father, and in that case we will hit the (correct) BUG_ON(!list_empty(father-children)). We don't change pid_ns-child_reaper when the main thread of the subnamespace init exits. As Robert Rex robert@exasol.com pointed out this is wrong. Yes, the re-parenting itself works correctly, but if the reparented task exits it needs -parent-nsproxy-pid_ns in do_notify_parent(), and if the main thread is zombie its -nsproxy was already cleared by exit_task_namespaces(). Introduce the new function, find_new_reaper(), which finds the new -parent for the re-parenting and changes -child_reaper if needed. Kill the now unneeded exit_child_reaper(). Also move the changing of -child_reaper from zap_pid_ns_processes() to find_new_reaper(), this consolidates the games with -child_reaper and makes it stable under tasklist_lock. Bug#570350: linux-image-2.6.26-2-amd64: kernel BUG at kernel/exit.c:822!
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.26-21lenny3 Severity: normal This may relate to #542115. This system kernel is new (HP ML115) and most definitely not tainted with ndiswrappers or nvidia. I am logging the report just prior to repooting. System seems stable enough. Bug#517449: linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64: SCHED_IDLE issues (tasks blocked for more than 120 seconds)
Hai Zaar wrote: On Wed, Jun 3, 2009 at 5:12 AM, Ben Hutchingsb...@decadent.org.uk wrote: You found some scheduling changes made post-2.6.28 which seemed to deal with this bug. However, that cannot be the full story because they are modifying code which was added after 2.6.26. The attached patch combines a bug fix made between 2.6.26 and .28 with most of the changes you identified. Based on my reading of commit messages and discussion, I think this makes a coherent set of changes. However there have been many other changes to the scheduler in this time and I cannot say for sure whether any of those are also required as I do not have any great knowledge of it. Please try rebuilding the lenny kernel (linux-source-2.6.26) with this patch applied and report whether it fixes the bug for you. Thank you for response! I've applied the patch to most recent lenny kernel and booted it. If in two weeks the problem does not occur, I will assume that the bug is gone (I will let you know). Thanks again! Is this for Dom0? I have two systems suffering this pain...and the silence on the Debian kernel lists to my offers to help test the patch is deafening. ;-) There are some patches mentioned here for 2.6.26 and also mention of 2.6.29. I am sorry because I can not get Google to tell me how Debian Xen kernels are patched and built :-( How does one build something like xen-linux-system-2.6.26-custom-xen-amd64 with those patches? Also assuming the fixes are already included in 2.6.29how should I build a Debian xen-linux-system-2.6.29-custom-xen-amd64? I am familiar with make-kpkg... Bug#484876: still not in lenny
The bug is still in lenny. Doesn't look like its in squeeze or sid either??? The patch gets rid of the error reports for me. I am relying on apt-mirror to give me a debian mirror on a usb disk. This is essential at quite a few sites I look after with slow Internet. It would be really nice to see this fixed in the distribution properly please. Bug#517449: Found in lenny 2.6.26-2-686 domU + workround?
I ran a stress in a Lenny 2.6.26-2-686 hvm domu as follows: # stress --cpu 16 --io 16 --vm 16 --hdd 16 --timeout 3600 Ok its a pretty heavy test for a dual core 2Gb domain...but I got the same blocked task behaviour: INFO: task stress:9878 blocked for more than 120 seconds. Also: hda: dma_timer_expiry: dma status == 0x24 hda: dma_timer_expiry: dma status == 0x21 The domu did reboot ok to recover. Significantly Dom0 which is 2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 survived unscathed. Interesting downgrading the domu kernel to oldstable 2.6.18-5-686 the same stress test passed by without incident. a work round? Perhaps this may approach be a handy and quick work round for existing production sites until this bug is fixed in the official Lenny kernel. Known, some problem in the /dev/mem logic. As only X.org 1.4 still uses this interface, I tend to ignore it until someone provides a patch. Newer versions uses the /sys/bus/pci/devices/*/resource* interface, can you please check if at least this works? I can confirm this bug in stable: Lenny Package: xen-linux-system-2.6.26-1-xen-amd64 Version: 2.6.26-13lenny2 Package: xorg Version: 1:7.3+18 Test system is HP6715B. Cheers, Michael Yep. This is no real problem for me as I will simply ditch network manager until it works properly in stable. Bug#453678: linux-image-2.6.22-3-amd64: shutdown ok but no power off on my HP6715 laptop
Berni Elbourn wrote: Package: linux-image-2.6.22-3-amd64 Version: 2.6.22-6 Severity: normal The last report on the console is disable non boot CPUs. I don't recall that from earlier versions. Console reponds to show_memory combination. Problem occurs with ndiswrapper removed, also and gdm stopped. Significantly 2.6.22-2 was just fine To add. The fresh 2.6.23-9 from kernel.org does not exhibit this power off problem. Everything else seems fine for me too. BTW: this kernel feels quicker too. Anyways this bug is fixed somewhere along the line of kernel development. I guess it should be wishlisted for Debian's own. This is my first bug report so bear with me on how to do that -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
