Bug#801391: drbd-utils: shared-secret support 63 characters, not 64

2015-10-09 Thread Björn Påhlsson

Package: drbd-utils
Version: 8.9.2~rc1-2
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,
The manual says that the shared-secret option "May be up to 64
characters", but if you use 64 character you get:

Failure: (126) UnknownMandatoryTag
invalid attribute value
Command ... terminated with exit code 10

However, 63 characters work perfectly fine.

Bug#778530: phpbb3: QA Captcha allows bots when new language packs are installed

2015-02-16 Thread Björn Påhlsson
Package: phpbb3
Version: 3.0.10-4+deb7u2
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

The QA captcha plugin normally does not allow an empty question set
as per the manual, section How to configure QA CAPTCHA. However, if
you install a language pack after you have configured the QA, the
enabled QA for the new languages will have an empty question set,
allowing bots to register without *any* security checks.

The result that installing language packs impacts security seems as a
non-obvious effect. Either a warning, a safer failure of the QA
CAPTCHA, or having empty language sets falling back to other languages
would be a large improvement to the current situation.

Bug#686441: RFP: autocrypt-milter -- A milter which encrypts outgoing mail using keys from CERT DNS records

2012-09-01 Thread Björn Påhlsson
Package: wnpp

* Package name: autocrypt-milter
  Version : 1.0.0
  Upstream Author : Björn Påhlsson bel...@recompile.se
* URL : http://www.recompile.se/~belorn/autocrypt
* License : GPL3+
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : A milter which encrypts outgoing mail using keys from CERT
DNS records

OpenPGP keys can be stored in the DNS using RFC 4398. Using this,
outgoing mail can be scanned for destination addresses, those
addresses searched for DNS CERT records, and, if any are found, the
mail can be encrypted to those recipients. DNSSEC can be used to get
a reasonable amount of ensurance of getting the correct key. This
program is a milter which does this.

Bug#648609: gnome: Load icons for applications on demand

2011-11-13 Thread Björn Påhlsson

Package: gnome
Version: 1:3.0+5
Severity: wishlist
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainers,
 When using the applications tab, it lists all applications on the
system. This takes quite a while to load when you have many
applications. On my system, it takes around 20 seconds to load the
applications tab, which mean 20 seconds of frozen computer time. What I
would suggest is to only load the first ~40-60 icons from the
application list, and then load the rest on demand while the user
scrolls down the list.

 The mdadm bug is fixed by upstream commit

 It is triggered by a kernel bug that is fixed in upstream commit

 (and many a few near by commits) which will be in 2.6.35, and is in
 the latest 2.6.34-stable: 2.6.34.1.

I can confirm that it works when running with

Bug#589413: mdadm: Segmentation fault when converting to RAID6 from RAID5

2010-07-17 Thread Björn Påhlsson
Package: mdadm
Version: 3.1.2-2
Severity: normal

Assuming /dev/md0 is not used, the following commands can be used to
reproduce a segmentation fault in the mdadm command:

# for a in dev0 dev1 dev2 dev3; do dd if=/dev/zero count=256 bs=$((1024*1024))
of=$a; done
# for a in 0 1 2 3; do losetup /dev/loop$a dev$a; done
# mdadm --create /dev/md0 --level=5 --raid-devices=3 /dev/loop0 /dev/loop1
/dev/loop2
# mkfs -t ext3 /dev/md0 # Just to make it sync
# mdadm --verbose /dev/md0 --add /dev/loop3
# mdadm --verbose --grow /dev/md0 --level=raid6 --raid-devices=4

The output of that last command is:

mdadm level of /dev/md0 changed to raid6
Segmentation fault

And the contents of /proc/mdstat is:

 localhost should mean both 127.0.0.1 and ::1 on a dual-stack
 system if the application support both IPv4 and IPv6.

In that case, there is no reason to only use the IPv4 numeric form in
the recommended configuration. Also, this would fix recommended settings
for IPv6-only systems.

 Very strange, it should at least output anything:

 # invoke-rc.d privoxy stop
 Stopping filtering proxy server: privoxy.

 # mv /etc/privoxy/default.action /etc/privoxy/default.action.ignore
 # invoke-rc.d privoxy start
 Starting filtering proxy server: privoxy failed!

More testing.
Tested purging privoxy (aptitude purge privoxy) and then installing it
again (aptitude install privoxy).

then:
# invoke-rc.d privoxy stop
# mv /etc/privoxy/default.action /etc/privoxy/default.action.ignore

still no output, or running process.

So I ran:
# sh -x /etc/init.d/privoxy start  output 21

So maybe it will help provide more information.

after, it, I reverted the move, and tested that it still worked.

Yes, I noticed that I need to write /usr/sbin/privoxy --user privoxy
/etc/privoxy/config to make it work. doing that with default.action as
default.action.ignore doesnt produce any output but returns 1 as error
return code.

 Okay, the missing config file has to be written to stderr, because the
 log file is configured in the config file. In contrast to this, the
 missing action file is logged to /var/log/privoxy/logfile. But there
 should be a message that privoxy is started. Maybe there exists some
 problem with your lsb-base package, which is used in this version of
 privoxy, but you seem to have installed the same version that I have
 here.

Yes, it was logged to the logfile.

If privoxy fails to start (at least when there are missing action

Bug#518010: iceweasel-torbutton: Recommended proxy settings is broken by default

2009-03-03 Thread Björn Påhlsson
Package: iceweasel-torbutton
Version: 1.2.0-1
Severity: important

Default recommended proxy is set to 127.0.0.1:8118, while privoxy by
default listens to localhost:8118. These are not the same, and if
kernel has IPv6 loaded, then privoxy will ONLY listen to [::1]:8118,
and NOT 127.0.0.1:8118, thus breaking the tor button.

Bug#518013: iceweasel-torbutton: Internal error is too vague

2009-03-03 Thread Björn Påhlsson
Package: iceweasel-torbutton
Version: 1.2.0-1
Severity: wishlist

When pressing the test settings button, and there is no proxy
listening on the configured address, it would be nice to receive a
message indicating that, instead of internal error which directs the
user's attention towards TOR and not the proxy.

Bug#500727: ITP: mandos -- Do unattended reboots with an encrypted root file system

2008-09-30 Thread Björn Påhlsson
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Björn Påhlsson [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: mandos
  Version : 1.0
  Upstream Author : Björn Påhlsson [EMAIL PROTECTED], Teddy Hogeborn [EMAIL
PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.fukt.bsnet.se/mandos
* License : GPL3+
  Programming Lang: C, Python
  Description : Do unattended reboots with an encrypted root file system

This is the Mandos system, which allows computers to have
encrypted root file systems and at the same time be capable
of remote and/or unattended reboots.

The computers run a small client program in the initial RAM
disk environment which will communicate with a server over a
network. All network communication is encrypted using TLS.
The clients are identified by the server using an OpenPGP
key; each client has one unique to it. The server sends the
clients an encrypted password. The encrypted password is
decrypted by the clients using the same OpenPGP key, and the
password is then used to unlock the root file system,
whereupon the computers can continue booting normally.
