Bug#734359: [gnome] Background is not shown in Gnome flashback

2014-01-06 Thread Boross Péter

Package: gnome
Version: 1:3.8+4
Severity: minor

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I use Debian64 (cleanly installed as Debian Jessie testing and updated
continuously) in Oracle VirtualBox. The background chosen in the
gnome-settings can be seen in gnome and in gnome classic, but cannot be
seen in gnome-flashback (only black background).
I have an another PC using also Debian testing Jessie (this PC is not
virtualised and 32 bit only, and OS was upgaded several times: Squeeze
testing - Squeeze final - Wheezy testing - Wheezy final - Jessie
testing), but on this PC the background image can be seen also in
gnome-flashback.

Bug#733612: [gdm3] wm-independent

2014-01-01 Thread Boross Péter
I have tried the login with different window managers also (gnome, gnome
classic, gnome flashback, lxde, xfce, icewm) but the error was similar (and
happened in 100% cases).

Bug#733612: [gdm3] GDM3 Login error with vesa driver if passwor is set

2013-12-30 Thread Boross Péter

Package: gdm3
Version: 3.8.4-6
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
If I use vesa driver I receive correct GDM3 login screen (with nouveau I
have no correct gdm3, if interested, see bug no. 733606 of
[xserver-xorg-video-nouveau] package), and if password is inactivated (x
removed from double colons (:x:) from etc/passwd) for user I choose GDM3
starts gnome correctly and everything runs without problem. However, if
user has active password, GDM3 asks for password, then goes into a blank
grey screen without doing anything (HD led is idle) for a long time
(more than 5 mins - killing or (service) stopping gdm3 also does not
close X), then it switch back to console where character graphics are
also gone into wrong: in some cases all character spaces has fully
filled with different color (looks like a random mosaic tile picture) or
in other case each character is changed to anything other (e.g. instead
of empty (space) char a double wave, instead of Latin alphabet letters
different shapes, lines or curves, etc.).

Continuous fresh upgrade of debian testing since the last 1 month did
not solve the problem.

I have tested another debian testing install on other PCs (desktop AMD
with Nvidia FX5200 with nouveau driver and laptop Intel with ATI
Mobility Radeon 7200 with radeon driver) but this login-password error
did not occur (this is why I assumed this is vesa-specific but, as I
have written in the subject).
This login-password error occurred first after the upgrade of GDM3 from
the old (debian 7) wheezy-style to this new (debian 8) jessy-style.

I have tried to find any gdm3 log file but I did not found any. If you
need other hw, sw or log info, please write and I'll generate it/search
for it.

Save function is not working (pressing Enter at commander name erases it
instead of saving; autosave does not work also). Also compared with
oolite Debian wheezy version (oolite 1.76), where saving works perfectly.

Bug#732377: Acknowledgement ([oolite] Save function is not working)

2013-12-17 Thread Boross Péter

Missing information from the original bug report:

- Windows host OS for the virtualisation is also 64-bit version
- the correct operation of save in version 1.76 was tested on another PC
(debian wheezy (stable) 32-bit, native OS without virtualisation)

2013-12-17 Thread Boross Péter
oolite save error confirmed on other PC - this PC is 32 bit and runs
debian testing i386 directly, without virtualisation.
The error is the same: pressing the Enter at commander name erases it
instead of saving.

Bug#696964: laptop-mode-tools: External USB mouse completely stops after unused for a few seconds

2012-12-29 Thread Boross Péter
Package: laptop-mode-tools
Version: 1.61-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I could clearly reproduce closed (archived) bug no. 653429, with little bit
more severity:

the built-in touchpad worked correctly without problems, but the external usb
mouse usually not working:
after booting the system the external mouse works. When I not use it for a few
seconds, the optical led is turned off and mouse replies never more... except
when I switch to terminal (ctrl+alt+f1) with running gpm - mouse starts, but
after unused for a few seconds the optical led is turned off and mouse replies
never more... except when I switch back to X (ctrl+alt+f7/8/9) - mouse starts,
but after unused for a few seconds the optical led is turned off and mouse
replies never more... and so on, and so on...

When I uninstalled package laptop-mode-tools the battery life decreased but
mouse started to work correctly, without stops and/or problems...
