Bug#703521: KOrganizer Todo drag and drop tasks/subtasks broken?
Package: KOrganizer Version: 4.4.11 In KOrganizer Todo view, when I try to click and drag a task or subtask to a different position in the hierarchy of tasks the GUI shows it as having been moved to the top of the hierarchy and does not show it in the position I moved it to until after KOrganizer has been restarted. (View-Refresh does not correct this). My calendar uses the default akonadi resource, which made me wonder whether akonadi was to blame, but interestingly I installed another kde to do list app called zanshin (v 0.2.1 from main repo) and this works flawlessly and instantly with the same akonadi resource. Moreover, if I then close zanshin and reopen KOrganizer the changes I made in zanshin are accurately reflected in KOrganizer. Bug#610263: xkb-data: Mapping Prior and Next to Mod3+U and Mod3+I clobbers Shift+U and Shift+I
Package: xkb-data Version: 1.3-2 Severity: normal I created a custom layout called cjns in /usr/etc/X11/xkb/symbols where among other things, the ‘navigation keypad’ is remapped to Mod3+[UIOP] (PgUp, PgDn, Home, End) and Mod3+[HJKL] (Arrow keys). The navigation keys all work fine where I need them, for instance in the seamonkey/mozilla browser, but I noticed that the Shift+U and Shift+I, the keys that have a 3rd level mapping to Prior and Next, no longer produce an upper case U or an upper case I. What makes me suspect that the problem is with the xkb package rather than XTerm is that I get similar results with other traditional X applications, such as Xman (Xman has a text-entry field under the ‘Search’ option). To recreate the problem: // duplicate the standard ‘us’ layout under another name: partial alphanumeric_keys xkb_symbols cjns { name[Group1]= USA - cjns; // add 3rd level definitions of ‘Prior’ and ’Next’, e.g.: key AD07 { [ u, U, Prior, NoSymbol ] }; key AD08 { [ i, I, Next, NoSymbol ] }; // map Mod3 to the windows keys: include level3(win_switch) }; After enabling the custom keyboard layout via ‘setxkbmap cjns’, the shifted forms of the ‘U’ and ’I’ keys no longer work when typed in an XTerm, or other X applications. Workaround: Mapping KP_Prior and KP_Next to the same keys do not cause the problem: key AD07 { [ u, U, KP_Prior, NoSymbol ] }; key AD08 { [ i, I, KP_Next, NoSymbol ] }; Additional remarks: With the initial mapping (Prior/Next), Shift+U and Shift+I appear to be mapped to Shift+Prior and Shift+Next respectively. In an XTerm, this can be verified by typing Shift+U and Shift+I, which results in scrolling the XTerm's input/output history. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.7 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686-bigmem (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#352758: -- installation: etch installer fails to detect/configure PC card NIC
On Sun, Jan 17, 2010 at 07:56:14AM EST, Holger Wansing wrote: Hi, Hello, First of all, why are you gentlmen replying to me directly instead of posting to the list? Do this mean that you would rather discuss this off-list? Or am I misundertanding how this list works? [..] This whole problem can be splitted in two parts: 1. the debian-installer cannot use the device since the needed firmware is not provided. Correct. 2. why is the firmware not in the current debian archive while it was contained in the archive in the past? I have not evidence it was ever provided on the distribution CD's. I was not part of etch, hence my sending in a bug report, and sarge was my first install, and I have fuzzy memories of the install. IIRC, I was running RedHat at the time and followed some debootstrap document I had found online and did not install of a full CD, netinst, etc. To 1. Non-free firmware is not included in the installer iso! The installer provides the possibility to use such firmware, but you have to provide the particular file by hand. The process is documented in the debian installer manual. See http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/manual/ for the development version of the manual. Chapter 6.4 is what you need. You get a link there, where a file with several firmwares can be downloaded. Try if the needed firmware is contained in that archive file. (There is one firmware file for 3Com included, it is named typphon.bin or something like that. Maybe this file works for you?) Thanks, that may come in handy in the event the version of 3CCFEM556.cis I currently use becomes obsolete and I need a new version. OTOH, I have not idea if the firmware is debian-compatible license-wise or not. That was pure speculation on my part and just a fairly legitimate assumption at that. If no firmware from this archive file is working for you: do you have the needed 3CCFEM556.dat file somewhere at your harddrive or similar? Then copy it to a usb stick and provide it to the debian installer that way. Try if the debian-installer can use the network device then. Oh, yes. I've been carrying around for about four years now. ;-) If you don't have the 3CCFEM556.dat file anymore, you can download an old version of the pcmcia-cs package from a debian mirror (for example here: http://ftp.ee.debian.org/debian/pool/main/p/pcmcia-cs/pcmcia-cs_3.2.8-9_i386.deb). It contains the needed file (as you already wrote). Try if you can get the network device to work with debian-installer. I think I'll give that a try as soon as I get a chance. To 2. Could you try to find out if the firmware is non-free? I have no idea how I could go about doing that. I mean, it's really for debian to decide whether a given piece of [soft/firm]ware meets their requirements. Could it be included in the debian-archive? It was included in the past, but maybe that was indeed not correct from the DFSG point of view. Right, although speculation on my part, that's precisely what I was thinking. The pcmcia-cs package is no more available in the debian archive. Maybe some firmware that was included in pcmcia-cs can still be included in debian, but was simply forgotten and removed with the whole pcmcia-cs package? I guess if the former pcmcia-cs debian maintainer would know more about this, possibly the whole story? Holger Thanks, and sorry to bother you about this. At least I do follow up on my bug reports ;-) CJ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

In unstable it looks to be included in the firmware-linux-free package, but with a changed extension: http://packages.debian.org/search?searchon=contentskeywords=3CCFEM556mode=filenamesuite=unstablearch=any Note that that file is based on the 2.6.32 kernel, not on the 2.6.30 kernel used in current versions of the installer for Squeeze. The fact that it does not exist in testing or stable could mean that the firmware is included in the module, but maybe not. Bug#412004: defaults file contains nonsensical values
Package: varnish Version: 1.0.2-3 The /etc/defaults/varnish file sets VARNISH_MAX_WORKER_THREADS to the string INF. That, in turn becomes an argument to varnishd in the form -w 1,INF,10 That string is then processed by varnishd using the strtoul() and since the letters INF don't really qualify as an unsigned long, something else is sent which causes varnish performance to be next to useless. Changing this to a number produces an expected performance level (~6000 requests/sec with zero errors, vs almost 100% errors with the default value). Bug#359294: print only the top left 1/4 of the page
On 30 Apr 2006, at 22:00, Eric Dorland wrote: * Drew Parsons ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) wrote: Im printing to a local cups printer. Do you mean you're printing to the one firefox labels as CUPS/ printer, or to printer@:64 ? If it's the latter then you probably need to run dpkg-reconfigure xprint-common and set the resolution of your printer, see /usr/share/doc/xprint-common/README.printing-problems.gz. Was Drew's advice helpful Chris? Yes All the printers listed in the print diolog now behave, though they still dont pickup settings like paper size from the cups settings. No Xprint printers seem to exist in the new firefox package, they do still appear in mozilla though. It seems quite ridiculous that Xprint only allows one resolution for all printers. -- Chris Jones, SUCS Admin http://sucs.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
