Bug#338307: network problem
Hello, I had exactly the same problem, gnomemeeting freezes when I trie to discover the sound devices, when I play the test souns in the prefs, or when gnomemeeting itself tries to play a sound on an event. And I did an strace of the process (see below). When looking to my /etc/hosts, I discovered that I was missing a correct ip hostname line. (removed by a config script) The ip was wrong, and the freeze is just a network timeout. If I wait 1 minute or two, gnomemeeting starts responding again. But why is gnomemeeting doing things with the network while playing sounds ??!! Is it a problem in alsa ? Could you confirm that: - if you wait long enough, the freeze stops - you have correct entries in /etc/hosts ? Ola Lundqvist a écrit : vncviewer accepts the following syntax : vncviewer host:port:display This does not appear in the man page, and this is not completely obvious. It do? I first thought that having the host:display syntax would prevent from specifying the port, and I just tried host:port:display , thinking maybe it will work?. And it actually worked, but this is not really documented. I guessed this after spending some time searching how to specify the port. (-p option or other...) Mentionning this syntax in the man page AND in the --help could save time of many users. What do it mean when you enter that? Nothing special, the title speaks about the man page but it would be nice to specify this syntax also in the --help. thanks Christophe

Bug#277482: you just have to flush the trash
I don't agree with this bug. There is no reason we shouldn't have the benefits of the trash even on removable media. Maybe this is not very useful on very small ones, but on large usb or firewire removable harddisks, having a trash is important. You normally don't have to manually find the .trash directory to erase your files. When the trash is created on the removable media, you just have to flush the wastebasket to actually release the space. Maybe the only remaining problem is: after doing this, you still have an empty and unuseful .Trash or .trash-user directory. So maybe the real bug is: this directory should be deleted when emptied. (to avoid doing like the Mac: letting a lot of weird and boring files and directories everywhere it goes, like TheVolumeSettingsFolder, Network Trash Folder, .AppleDouble, and others...) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#341949: nautilus: impossible to empty the trash because of permissions
Package: nautilus Version: 2.10.1-5 Severity: normal This bug has been reported on Sid'd version of nautilus, but it is also valid for the Stable version. Very simple bug, maybe already known (but I didn't find a report) which is very annoying for desktop users and 100% reproducible: $ cd ~/Desktop $ mkdir -p foo/bar $ touch foo/bar/file $ chmod -w foo/bar (real users can do the same thing easily with nautilus, without command line) Now drag the foo directory to the trash And try to flush the trash. = no permission. This happens often in real conditions, when users just copy some stuffs from another directory or media, where one directory was read-only. Then, there is no easy way to empty the trash. Users must go to their home, tell nautilus to display hidden files, enter .Trash, find the readonly dir, change their permissions, then empty the trash. Or users must type some recursive chmod command. Both are not friendly... There are three solutions: - either the foo directory shouldn't be allowed to be moved to the trash (but this would be as annoying as before) - or the files could be chmod'ed when moved to the trash (bad, could be long) - or, better, the trash deletion should just be forced -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.14-2-k7 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages nautilus depends on: ii desktop-file-utils 0.10-1 Utilities for .desktop files ii gconf2 2.10.1-6GNOME configuration database syste ii gnome-control-center 1:2.10.2-1 utilities to configure the GNOME d ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-0 1.10.3-1The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libaudiofile00.2.6-6 Open-source version of SGI's audio ii libbonobo2-0 2.10.1-1Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.10.1-1The Bonobo UI library ii libc62.3.5-8.1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libeel2-22.10.1-3Eazel Extensions Library (for GNOM ii libesd-alsa0 [libesd0] 0.2.36-1Enlightened Sound Daemon (ALSA) - ii libexif120.6.12-2library to parse EXIF files ii libgail-common 1.8.7-1 GNOME Accessibility Implementation ii libgail171.8.7-1 GNOME Accessibility Implementation ii libgconf2-4 2.10.1-6GNOME configuration database syste ii libglade2-0 1:2.5.1-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.8.4-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-desktop-2 2.10.2-1Utility library for loading .deskt ii libgnome2-0 2.10.1-1The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomecanvas2-02.10.2-2A powerful object-oriented display ii libgnomeui-0 2.10.1-1The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 2.10.1-5The GNOME virtual file-system libr ii libgtk2.0-0 2.6.10-2The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libnautilus-extension1 2.10.1-5libraries for nautilus components ii liborbit21:2.12.4-1 libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-01.8.2-3 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpopt0 1.7-5 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii librsvg2-2 2.9.5-6 SAX-based renderer library for SVG ii libsm6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-11 X Window System Session Management ii libstartup-notification0 0.8-1 library for program launch feedbac ii libx11-6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-11 X Window System protocol client li ii libxml2 2.6.22-2GNOME XML library ii nautilus-data2.10.1-5data files for nautilus ii shared-mime-info 0.16-3 FreeDesktop.org shared MIME databa ii xlibs6.8.2.dfsg.1-11 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-8 compression library - runtime Versions of packages nautilus recommends: ii desktop-base0.3.16 common files for the Debian Deskto ii eject 2.0.13deb-18 ejects CDs and operates CD-Changer ii nautilus-cd-burner 2.10.2-2 CD Burning front-end for Nautilus -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#334355: It works for me. Did you add yourself to the camera group?
I just bought today an EOS 350D, and I could retrieve the images (almost) without any problem. (athlon usb2 laptop with latest Sid and 2.6.12-k7) Importing works very well. After importing I just get some errors while deleting PTP : reading event an error 0x2002 occured (I have checked the option delete images after importing) but the deletion works anyway. The only pain I had is with the camera group. I have spent one hour trying to figure out why importing was not working, and I finaly discovered that libgphoto2 had added a camera group, and that I was not in this group! After adding myself to camera everything's ok. But this is not user-friendly AT ALL !! Something should be made to warn the user that a new group is being added, and that some features of the OS will depend on the user being or not in this group. Maybe a warning should be added in the postinstall debconf? The better option would be that libgphoto2 should issue an explicit warning about PERMISSIONS, the current behaviour (of gtkam, gthumb, nautilus, etc.) is an inacurate error message (camera not plugged or not recognized). I guess the error message comes from libgphoto2. Can the reporter confirm (or not) he forgot to add himself to the camera group? A new Unlock button should be placed at the current position of the New Login button (ie just below the password box), and the New Login button should be moved, and placed somewhere else (maybe in the lower-right corner). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-1-k7 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages xscreensaver depends on: ii libatk1.0-0 1.10.1-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.3.5-6GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libglade2-0 1:2.5.1-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.8.0-1The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.6.10-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-10 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libpam0g 0.76-23Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpango1.0-0 1.8.2-1Layout and rendering of internatio ii libsm66.8.2.dfsg.1-6 X Window System Session Management ii libx11-6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxml2 2.6.20-1 GNOME XML library ii libxmu6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6 X Window System miscellaneous util ii libxpm4 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6 X pixmap library ii libxrandr26.8.2.dfsg.1-6 X Window System Resize, Rotate and ii libxrender1 1:0.9.0-2 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxt66.8.2.dfsg.1-6 X Toolkit Intrinsics ii xlibs 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g1:1.2.3-4 compression library - runtime Versions of packages xscreensaver recommends: ii libjpeg-progs 6b-10 Programs for manipulating JPEG fil ii netpbm2:10.0-8 Graphics conversion tools ii perl [perl5] 5.8.7-4Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii wamerican [wordlist] 5-4American English dictionary words ii wfrench [wordlist]1.2.3-1French dictionary words for /usr/s pn xli | xloadimage none (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#320190: sl-modem-daemon: hardware naming scheme changed: hw:X - modem:X (NO CARRIER ERROR)
Package: sl-modem-daemon Version: 2.9.9a-1 Severity: important Hello, I'm talking about a Samsung P28 laptop with an ATI IXP winmodem (PCI id = 1002:434d) This modem is reported to work with slmodem. I've been spending a whole day to understand why I was always getting a NO CARRIER error when trying to dial ATDT... The most common source of error is the Carrier Detect = no option in wvdial, but this had no effect for me. I discovered that I had to start slmodemd with the following options to be able to communicate with the modem: slmodemd --alsa -c COUNTRY modem:1 instead of: slmodemd --alsa -c COUNTRY hw:1 This uses the snd_atiixp-modem modules, and doesn't need the slamr module. I found this information in the README file of slmodem package (line 228), and using the modem:0 naming scheme is MANDATORY for ATI IXP modems. So maybe for alsa = 1.0.6, hw should be replaced with modem in the init script, provided this works with other modems. Otherwise, the modem type should be detected. Bug#304842: hal: usb-storage devices are 10 times slower because of sync mode
Package: hal Version: 0.4.7-3 Severity: normal there is an option in /usr/share/hal/fdi/90defaultpolicy/storage-policy.fdi that sets the sync option for hotplugable devices. (when automounting with gvm) This seems to be a good idea to avoid loosing data when unplugging the device without unmounting BUT: when you set the sync mode on usb-storage devices (usb keys, etc.), you get a VERY POOR tranfer rate, often ten times slower than without the option! I once wrote a small script to benchmark usb keys transfer rate in sync mode with several block sizes. More information here: http://ccomb.free.fr/wiki/wakka.php?wiki=UsbStorageBenchmark I believe the sync mode should never be used except for debugging cases. This is like using the sync mode of X... not good for performance and not for real use. The problem is: if the device is mounted without sync, with the current behaviour of Gnome, the user is not warned during the real copy when unmounting, and there is some time lost while waiting for the copy. I think a correct behaviour should be: - hal/gvm should mount WITHOUT the sync mode - nautilus/gnome-vfs should either : - popup a window during the unmounting (just like kde), OR (better) - autoflush the data to the device after a few seconds, while showing the copy popup window. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-1-k7 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages hal depends on: ii adduser 3.63 Add and remove users and groups ii dbus-1 0.23.4-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii dbus-glib-1 0.23.4-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcap1 1:1.10-14support for getting/setting POSIX. ii libexpat1 1.95.8-1 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libglib2.0-02.6.4-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libhal-storage0 0.4.7-3 Hardware Abstraction Layer - share ii libhal0 0.4.7-3 Hardware Abstraction Layer - share ii libpopt01.7-5lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii pciutils1:2.1.11-15 Linux PCI Utilities ii udev0.056-2 /dev/ management daemon ii usbutils0.70-5 USB console utilities -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#298443:
I fully agree with you. But the problem is the following : I did this translation 7 months ago, I have contacted the initial translator and I posted the file in several lists for reviewing. But it seems nobody is alive, and the original translator doesn't seem to accept modifications of the initial (awful) translation, which often seems to come from an automatic translator. He does not even seem to be subscribed to the Free Translation Project mailing list... The initial translator's 0.14.2 translation does not change anything at all, so I'm also joining the updated 0.14.2 corresponding to the file I posted. Please note I'm part of the Debian french translation team, and this translation comes from a request of this list, one year ago. I'm also registered in the Free Translation Project team, and I've signed the GNU disclaimer for translation copyright. gettext-tools-0.14.2.fr.po.gz Description: application/compressed-tar

Here is the patch, modified from the one provided by pdoru to work on PHP 4.3.10-2 (no code change, just the line numbers) I successfully tried this patch and the progress bar with apache 1.3 and I am currently using it on a modified version of phpCollab. diff -ru php-4.3.10/main/rfc1867.c php-4.3.10-upm/main/rfc1867.c --- php-4.3.10/main/rfc1867.c 2004-11-20 21:16:44.0 +0100 +++ php-4.3.10-upm/main/rfc1867.c 2005-01-21 00:16:59.0 +0100 @@ -128,6 +128,29 @@ #define UPLOAD_ERROR_D4 /* No file uploaded */ #define UPLOAD_ERROR_E6 /* Missing /tmp or similar directory */ + + +/* Defines for upload progress callback */ +#define UPLOAD_START 0 +#define UPLOAD_UPDATE 0 +#define UPLOAD_DETECTED_NEW_FILE +1 +#define UPLOAD_DONE -1 + +#define UPLOAD_PROGRESS_UPDATE( progress, why )\ + if (upload_progress_tracking 1) { \ + upload_progress_callback( progress, \ + SG(read_post_bytes), SG(request_info).content_length, why );\ + } + +static void * (*upload_progress_callback)( void*, int, int, int) = NULL; +PHPAPI int upload_progress_register_callback( void* callback) +{ + upload_progress_callback = callback; +} +/* end upload progress stuff */ + + + void php_rfc1867_register_constants(TSRMLS_D) { REGISTER_MAIN_LONG_CONSTANT(UPLOAD_ERR_OK, UPLOAD_ERROR_OK, CONST_CS | CONST_PERSISTENT); @@ -768,6 +791,11 @@ SAPI_API SAPI_POST_HANDLER_FUNC(rfc1867_post_handler) { + void * progress = NULL; + intupload_progress_tracking = /* 0=disabled, 1=active, 2=actualy tracking something */ + SG(request_info).content_length upload_progress_callback ? 1:0; + + char *boundary, *s=NULL, *boundary_end = NULL, *start_arr=NULL, *array_index=NULL; char *temp_filename=NULL, *lbuf=NULL, *abuf=NULL; int boundary_len=0, total_bytes=0, cancel_upload=0, is_arr_upload=0, array_len=0, max_file_size=0, skip_upload=0; @@ -848,6 +876,7 @@ zend_llist_clean(header); if (!multipart_buffer_headers(mbuff, header TSRMLS_CC)) { + UPLOAD_PROGRESS_UPDATE( progress, UPLOAD_DONE ); SAFE_RETURN; } @@ -910,6 +939,11 @@ max_file_size = atol(value); } + if (upload_progress_tracking == 1 !strcmp(param, UPLOAD_IDENTIFIER) ) { + progress = upload_progress_callback( value, 0, SG(request_info).content_length, 0); + upload_progress_tracking = progress ? 2:0; + } + efree(param); efree(value); continue; @@ -932,8 +966,10 @@ if (filename) { efree(filename); } + UPLOAD_PROGRESS_UPDATE( progress, UPLOAD_DONE ); SAFE_RETURN; } + UPLOAD_PROGRESS_UPDATE( progress, UPLOAD_DETECTED_NEW_FILE ); /* New Rule: never repair potential malicious user input */ if (!skip_upload) { @@ -983,6 +1019,8 @@ while (!cancel_upload (blen = multipart_buffer_read(mbuff, buff, sizeof(buff) TSRMLS_CC))) { + UPLOAD_PROGRESS_UPDATE( progress, UPLOAD_UPDATE ); + if (PG(upload_max_filesize) 0 total_bytes PG(upload_max_filesize)) { sapi_module.sapi_error(E_WARNING, upload_max_filesize of %ld bytes exceeded - file [%s=%s] not saved, PG(upload_max_filesize), param, filename); cancel_upload = UPLOAD_ERROR_A; @@ -1203,6 +1241,7 @@ } } + UPLOAD_PROGRESS_UPDATE( progress, UPLOAD_DONE ); SAFE_RETURN; }
Bug#290629: hdparm: additionnal IDE adapter not optimized at boot
Package: hdparm Version: 5.8-1 Severity: normal One of my systems have an aditionnal PCI IDE adapter (via pdc202xx_new) I have configured /etc/hparm.conf with: /dev/hde { dma=on interrupt_unmask = on io32_support = 1 } /dev/hdg { dma=on interrupt_unmask = on io32_support = 1 } but hde and hdg are never optimized at boot. I have to manually run: /etc/init.d/hdparm restart or hdparm -d 1 /dev/hde in order to enable DMA on these drives. I guess the pdc202 module is loaded after hdparm? or anything else ? regards Christophe -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-1-k7 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages hdparm depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
