Bug#644484: gnome-shell does not start

2011-10-06 Thread Damodharan Rajalingam
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.0.2-1+b1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,
I am running Debian Sid in my laptop. gnome-shell crashes just after starting.
Looking at the /var/log/messages I see the following error:

[ 70.020594] gnome-shell[3166]: segfault at 1c ip b7413454 sp bff38e40 error

bffb4ecc error 14 in libdbus-1.so.3.5.8[b46b5000+48000]

It happens consistently. Just after logging it I get a screen saying that
something is wrong and I need to logout and retry.

Thanks
Damu

Bug#639017: network-manager does not honor 'ask password everytime' option

2011-08-23 Thread Damodharan Rajalingam
Package: network-manager
Version: 0.8.9997-1
Severity: normal

The network manager does not honour the 'Ask password every time' option. Every
time I enter the password I select that checkbox. But when I reboot/reconnect
to the network it uses the old password and fails and then shows the password
dialog. I see that the 'Ask for this password every time' is unchecked. It
looks like this option is not persisted.

Bug#621751: gnome-shell: crashes randomly when playing videos

2011-04-08 Thread Damodharan Rajalingam
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 2.91.91-2
Severity: important

gnome-shell crashes randomly in my system when playing videos. I use mplayer or
vlc and have seen the crash happening with both these. Also my observation is
this happens only after my system comes back from suspend state. Restarting gdm
doesnt fix it and I have to restart the system to get the display back. The
ttys work fine though.

Bug#621102: gnome-screensaver does not show unlock screen

2011-04-06 Thread Damodharan Rajalingam
Package: gnome-screensaver
Version: 2.91.92-1
Severity: important

I recently upgraded to experimental version of gnome-screensaver with
gnome-shell and since then I have been facing this issue. After the configured
idle time the screensaver gets activated, but when I want to unlock the screen
no unlock dialog is shown. When I move the cursor or press some keys the
desktop background flashes momentarily. To get back my desktop I login to a tty
and kill the gnome-screensaver process. After this a new problem arises. The
gnome-screensaver does not kick in after this. Even if I manually ask gnome to
lock the screen the screen does not get locked.
