Bug#392550: alsa-oss: Same error using teamspeak with aoss
Package: alsa-oss Version: 1.0.15-1 Followup-For: Bug #392550 I get the same error message when using aoss with teamspeak (from debian/lenny non-free repository). My research shows that the problem might be that aoss tries to load 64 bit binaries for 32 bit applications (teamspeak). At least that's what alot of people suggest in other forums / mailing lists. Some people report to have the same bug with wine and aoss. I haven't tested that yet though. Could getting the 32 bit libraries and forcing aoss to load those for the failing applications help? -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_IE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_IE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages alsa-oss depends on: ii libasound21.0.16-2 ALSA library ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries alsa-oss recommends no packages. alsa-oss suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Is there a core? What is the result of 'nedit -V'? What is a core? It's a file (aptly called 'core', sometimes 'core.$PID') created by the OS if a process crashes. The file contains information about the process the moment it crashed and can help in debugging. This is also called 'throwing a core' or 'core dump'. The file is not always created for various reasons. If it is not, please send the result of 'ulimit -a'. I suppose the file should be created in the user's home directory, which it is not. Package: alsa-base Version: 1.0.11-1 Followup-For: Bug #349405 I have the same problem with my sound chip. Unloading the modem module snd_intel8x0m helped to get the sound back working. If I load the 8x0m module after loading the other alsa stuff, the sound chip remains working. Bug#337692: libx11-dev: encounter same error when trying to compile different X dependant software
Hoi! It's always complaining about /usr/include/X11/Xlib.h:3578: error: syntax error before '_X_SENTINEL' _X_SENTINEL is defined in /usr/include/X11/Xfuncproto.h here. Maybe you have a stray Xfuncproto.h lying around somewhere? I already figured, that not Xlib.h but Xfuncproto.h seems to cause the problem. I found a patch on the internet that was written for the Xfuncproto.h of X11R6, which should solve the problem (the stuff I found googling seems to handle exactly this bug, but only that it's from x11r6) - I checked and Xfuncproto.h from my xorg7 already contains this patch. Note, that this file contains the _X_SENTINEL definition! I searched for packets providing extra Xfuncproto.h headers using dpkg -S Xfuncproto.h but only found X11-proto-core-dev, which provided the file I checked. To be sure I then did find / -name Xfuncproto.h and after getting myself a cup of coffee it indeed stumbled over antoher two Xfuncproto.h files. The one of the extra two files that I think could cause the error is indeed not yet patched. I didnt try patching it yet, because I would rather like to get my compiler to use the correct file instead of patching the wrong one. I just checked the configure.ac file of one of the programs I tried to compile and indeed it uses /usr/local/include (the path of the wrong Xfuncproto.h) instead of /usr/include. However, I'm not sure where the files really should be and I don't know how to change the path from /usr/local/include to /usr/include - except of course by doing it manually. I tried to find something with google, but I think I just dont use the correct keywords to find what I'm looking for. Maybe any suggestions, links or google keywords for me?
