Bug#902031: needrestart: Restarts login manager
Control: retitle -1 needrestart: ignores configuration file Hi! On Thu, Jun 21, 2018 at 08:22:26PM +0200, Axel Beckert wrote: > But for some reason "qr(^wdm)" doesn't seem to match wdm.service > (anymore?) and it did by default restart wdm.service. > > I don't think, the change from "q(^wdm)" to "qr(^wdm)" could have > caused this, but I haven't found any other recent change. I just had the same probem (with sddm). The reason is that the configuration file is not correctly parsed anymore. The bug is in commit dd7f10172a7f6163b906b23297898ac1ac164210. The problem is that the last command in the block changed. So the return value of <$fh> is ignored and hence the entire configuration, too. Daniel
Bug#846927: does not check return value

No error reported. Despite efibootmgr failing and returning an eror code (5) grub-install claims installation was successful. This resulted into an unbootable system. See also #845023 for an example. grub-install should check the return code of efibootmgr, report it to the user, and (idealy) suggest a strategy to workaround this firmware bug. Daniel

Bug#661861: PC Engines Alix 3C2: Boot hang waiting for /dev to be fully populated
Hi! I just had the same problem on Alix 2d3 with BIOS v0.99 while updating to wheezy. This did not happen. So I assume the system crashed somewhere in the scan_times() function of cs5535-mfgpt. I played a little bit with the mfgptfix boot command line option, but the system always crashed. But simply removing the cs5535-mfgpt fixed the problem. In the end I found the MFGPT workaround option in the BIOS, which was enabled: | BIOS setup: | | (9) 9600 baud (2) 19200 baud *3* 38400 baud (5) 57600 baud (1) 115200 baud | (C) CHS mode *L* LBA mode *W* HDD wait *V* HDD slave *U* UDMA enable | *M* MFGPT workaround | (P) late PCI init | *R* Serial console enable | (E) PXE boot enable | (X) Xmodem upload | (Q) Quit After disabling it the system booted fine with cs5535-mfgpt enabled and mfgptfix not set. And since the kernel uses the same set of header files for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of each architecture, I wonder whether that would make sense. Maybe the right way to do this is: - linux-libc-dev (multiarch: same) becomes a metapackage depending on linux-libc-dev-$SRCARCH - linux-libc-dev-$SRCARCH (not multiarch) provides headers for all architectures built from kernel $SRCARCH, with symlinks I think this entire bug report is based on a misunderstanding of how gcc -m32 is supposed to work. 'gcc -m32' is not guaranteed to work unless the gcc-multilib package is installed; gcc-multilib was always installed: | ii gcc-multilib4:4.6.1-2 GNU C compiler (multilib files) and if gcc-multilib is installed, you get a /usr/include/asm compatibility symlink pointing to /usr/include/$triplet/asm. nope. Sep 21:52 .. | $ dpkg -S /usr/include/asm | gcc-multilib: /usr/include/asm There are still some problems with this setup, but I don't agree that the issue reported here is one of them and I don't see any reason to change the linux-libc-dev package. Hence I close this bug as fixed in libaqbanking 5.0.10-1. this change did not fix it for me. As I had not much free time, I only sent a short note to Martin and not to the bts. I just tried with an uptodate sid: In the Onlinebanking Verbindungsfenster called Verlaufsfenster in the menu, GnuCash shows for all my accounts the message | Extended account information is not available, some jobs might not work As expected the features that need this extended account information do not work. I remember that one of the selfcompiled versions of libahbci I tried emited more debug output. Mainly it first complained about unexpeded items and said it would ignore them. Later it complained about exactly the same items being missed. So I guess the error is somewhere in the message parsing code. Daniel pgpn8h1QMLgIo.pgp Description: PGP signature

On Sat, May 28, 2011 at 10:08:05PM +0200, Martin Preuss wrote: there is a new version in SVN right now. You could try that version and retrieve the account list again (depending on your application, it is somewhere in the Online Banking Setup). I downloaded the sources of the debian package, applied the patch, rebuilt and installed it. Then I started qbankmanager and retrieved the accound list again. The timestamps of the conf files changed, but there is still no ktv2: | dba@maggie:~/.aqbanking/settings/accounts $ grep accountFlag *conf | uid%3a%3a0001.conf: char accountFlags=preferSingleTransfer, preferSingleDebitNote | uid%3a%3a0002.conf: char accountFlags=preferSingleTransfer, preferSingleDebitNote | dba@maggie:~/.aqbanking/settings/accounts $ That should adjust your account settings in case the bank sends extended account information (which is needed for loading of prepaid cards). I don't care about prepaid cards. What I need are internal transactions, which used to work. Maybe my bank supports internal transactions but sends no extended account information. This would explain why it works with 5.0.5, wouldn't it? Is there a way to check this? Daniel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#314985: pmount: doesn't work with kernel 2.6.12
Hello, after some digging I think I found the problem in the function sysfs_get_device_parent() of libsysfs1. If called by pmount it alway returns NULL. I think this is because it tries to get the parent by removing the last part of the pathname. To make sure that it really gets a device it checks for the presence of /detach_state. But there is no file called detach_state in my entire /sys! Maybe this is somehow related to http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/5/17/234 . And here for reference the code libsysfs is executing (sysfs_device.c:610): | /* | * All devices have the detach_state attribute - validate here | */ | safestrcat(ppath, /detach_state); | if ((sysfs_path_is_file(ppath)) != 0) { | dprintf(Device at %s does not have a parent\n, dev-path); | return NULL; | } Daniel signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#314985: pmount: doesn't work with kernel 2.6.12
Package: pmount Version: 0.8-2 Severity: normal Hello, I just updated to kernel 2.6.12 and now I can't mount my usb harddrive with pmount anymore because it is not marked as removeable in /sys: | [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/ $ cat /sys/block/sdb/removable | 0 | [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/ $ My usbstick still works fine: | [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/ $ cat /sys/block/sda/removable | 1 | [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/ $ I don't know if this is intended by the kernel folk or if it is just a bug, but maybe you should consider detecting removeable media similar like hal does in /etc/udev/scripts/device-removable.sh.
