Bug#1011542: Assist in Development of Patch for Bug 1011542 - Missing phy-gmii-sel.ko Module in Debian Bullseye Installer for Armhf

2022-05-24 Thread David Kaiser
Hello,

I am interested in assisting in the development and testing of a patch for this
bug report. I am assuming that the patch may be very simple; e.g., simply
editing a list of included module names.

I will need some direction as to where to begin looking for the relevant patch
source repository and source file.

Thank you,

Dave Kaiser

Bug#1011542: installation-reports: Armhf Installer Missing phy-gmii-sel.ko Module Required on BeagleBone Black

Comments/Problems:

The d-i program fails to identify the network card and, therefore, cannot
complete. I can resolve this issue by manually editting the initrd.gz image,
provided by the default installer, and appending the
drivers/phy/ti/phy-gmii-sel.ko module from linux-image-5.10.0-13-armmp. This
same issue has been validated in each Bullseye release prior to Update 3, and
in the previous major release.

Please make sure that any installation logs that you think would
be useful are attached to this report. Please compress large
files using gzip.

Bug#998663: Installation Bug #998663 Appears Resolved with Latest Armhf Build

2021-12-22 Thread David Kaiser
This bug now appears to be resolved with the most recent build of the armhf
installer, dated 2021-12-13 15:23,
and located at:
https://deb.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/installer-armhf/current/images/hd-media/SD-card-images/

Installer Files:
  firmware.BeagleBoneBlack.img.gz
  partition.img.gz

Note: The previous (broken) version of these files had timestamps of
2021-10-04 08:07.

Note further, the ethernet module is not working correctly in this build on
BeagleBone Black. I will open a separate bug report for this issue.
