Bug#550949:
Dear all, I just wanted to contribute to this ticket by reporting the same troubles, experienced.on an up-to-date Squeeze system while compiling 2.6.31-rc4 kernel. The fact that passing --initrd option will not generate an initrd file is uncongruous to say the least. A transparent generation of the initrd would be more than welcomed, as the explanation quoted from manpage and README files are very confusing. Thank you for your time and effort in bridging the gap between Debian and its end-users. Sincerely yours,
Bug#497593: new iwlwifi firmware available
Hi Matt, watchout, the latest firmware are expected to be incompatible with the Wifi drivers included in Lenny (linux 2.6.26). This is mentioned in the README file in the firmware distribution (cf. iwlwifi-3945-ucode-15.28.2.8/README.iwlwifi-3945-ucode). For example, the latest 2.6.26 compatible releases are : iwl3945 : 15.28.1.8 iwl4965 : 228.57.1.21 Anyway, the package may include later versions of the firmware too : it would be appreciated by Debian users compiling their own build of Linux 2.6.18 or later. Bug#399939: apt-get (0.6.46.2) : incorrect dependencies resolution
Package: apt Version: 0.6.46.3 Severity: normal Hi, my sources.list files contains both testing and unstable repositories. I am pinning packages from unstable to 99, and my default release is testing. The incorrect behavior appears when running apt-get dist-upgrade : apt-get wants to install sysvinit-utils (2.86.ds1-34) from unstable, whereas it was not previously installed and is not a dependency of an installed package. apt-get seems to mix dependencies of a package from several debian releases, whereas it should only consider dependencies of installed packages. On the other hand, aptitude dist-upgrade -s -V has a correct behavior and will not attempt to install sysvinit-utils package. Neither does adept_updater. Bug#329412: amarok: crash if kmail is not installed
Hi,I have experienced this bug very recently with current version of amarok in Debian testing. It was version 1.4.1-3.The observed behavior is :- amarok will crash (most of the time while playing a podcast on-the-fly) - will then try to send some information via kmail- a dialog window will show up with a message similar to can't find kmail. What is the policy of Debian concerning application crash feedback ? Should not the user be asked for permission first ? I don't see such option in amarok's configure menu (maybe amarok does ask for permission once kmail is opened, i just don't know). Thanks Regards,David.

The Vesa driver requires the ability to make real-mode BIOS calls. This can neverwork. I'd suggest just closing this.Hi,IMHO, I would close this bug ticket too.The problem appeared to me because I installed the i386 userland, and then switched from the default kernel package to its amd64 flavor. Nevertheless, it could not happen with current testing and unstable repositories, as kernel-image-*-amd64-* packages are no more available in the i386 port of Debian : the amd64 kernel are only found in the amd64 port repository*. Best Regards,David.* with the exception of Debian Stable, which provides a amd64 build of linux kernel in the i386 repository. I think it is way to late to change anything about it.

Bug#383102: rtorrent: bug experienced on testing x386 too
Package: rtorrent Version: 0.6.0-1 Followup-For: Bug #383102 Hi, I have a i386 Debian testing and I experience the same kind as described in this ticket. It started appearing last week (around Aug 15th). It maybe related to : - a breaking system update (I update testing packages once a day), - a problem due to rtorrent.rc. Bug#383949: anjuta: can not add a new source file in a wizard project

Bug#303640: kernel-image-2.6.8-10-amd64-k8: Xfree86 fails to find a VESA chipset
Subject: kernel-image-2.6.8-10-amd64-k8: Xfree86 fails to find a VESA chipset Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-10-amd64-k8 Version: 2.6.8-11 Severity: important *** Please type your report below this line *** Hi, I just installed Debian testing on a new Athlon64/nForce4 machine. This machine boots correctly with the default i386 (2.6.8-2) kernel installed by d-i, and XFree86 correctly connects to a VESA chip. Nevertheless, if I boot on the 2.6.8-10-amd64-k8 kernel, then XFree86 can not find a VESA interface anymore, and thus fails to provide the graphic mode. - /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 was not changed - The graphic chipset is a GeForce 6600GT, integrated on the Gigabyte NX6600 128MB Vivo board. The complete /var/log/XFree86.0.log file is sent as an attachment.
