Bug#556018: cups: no longer shows jobs for a specific queue

2010-11-03 Thread Dean Montgomery
I've attached both a Debian dpatch and a patch from another distro that
resolves this issue.

The dpatch has to be run after CVE-2009-2820.dpatch - as they both modify
cgi-bin/ipp-var.c

Bug#551927: openoffice.org: application/x-ole-storage mime will not open in openoffice

2009-10-27 Thread Dean Montgomery
> Can you please try with 3.1.1-x in either a squeeze or sid chroot?
> Just
> to find out what is at fault here.

I installed Debian Lenny on a virtual machine

apt-get install kde iceweasel openoffice.org

The email with mime application/x-ole-storage *.doc opened fine in OpenOffice
Writer.

I then installed openoffice.org from backports.

The email with mime Word doc as application/x-ole-storage worked fine.

So I'm guessing that somewhere along the upgrade from Debian Sarge=>Etch=>Lenny
this mime type broke. As mentioned earlier this work-around-hack-fix works:

> > /etc/gnome-vfs-2.0/defaults.list
> > application/x-ole-storage=openoffice.org-writer.desktop
>
> I don't have that file at all.

It is part of libgnomevfs2-common

You can close the bug report.

Bug#551927: openoffice.org: application/x-ole-storage mime will not open in openoffice

2009-10-21 Thread Dean Montgomery
Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1:3.1.1-1~bpo50+1
Severity: important

After upgrading to openoffice 3.1.1 - word documents do not open in
OpenOffice.org from web-based email due to them being sent as
application/x-ole-storage.

I've tested it with iceweasel and epiphany-browser. If the file is sent as
application/msword, then it opens fine in openoffice.org.

Packages also involved with mime types: shared-mime-info libgnomevfs2-common

Mime types as application/x-ole-storage worked find with openoffice in debian
etch. This is a new problem in debian lenny.

To duplicate the problem:
* Open up a webmail-based email in Iceweasel.
* Find an email with an Word Document attachment that has mimetype set to
application/x-ole-storage
* When you try to open the file openoffice.org is not an option.

I need a fix at the global mimetype level - not at the browser-user-interface
level.

I forgot to mention that /usr/share/celestia/bookmarks.xml is automatically
copied to $HOME/.kde/share/apps/celestia/bookmarks.xml the first time the
program is launched.

To see the difference replace:
$HOME/.kde/share/apps/celestia/bookmarks.xml

Bug#417807: gamin over nfs requires libgamin-dev

2007-04-04 Thread Dean Montgomery
Package: gamin
Version: 0.1.8-2
Severity: important

Gamin was not working for NFS diskless clients. KDE would not show items saved
to the desktop, client's menu would not update after adding programs.
/etc/gamin/gaminrc had "fsset nfs poll 10". It appears as if gamin over nfs
requires libgamin-dev. As soon as I installed libgamin-dev fam started working
properly in KDE.

Please either make libgamin-dev a required package or note this NFS
bugfix in the Debian README docs for gamin.

In our schools every user's primary group is either "students" or "teachers",
so I was able to fix this by adding the following
to /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf

This will work with the NIS group size limitations.

I did not have time to figure out how to use "pam_console" or "at_console" or
study all of the dbus docs.

Bug#380264: xdebconfigurator: get-edid loop

Package: xdebconfigurator
Version: 1.24
Severity: important

/usr/sbin/xdebconfigurator line 590 reads:

When get-edid fails, the script goes into a loop
because get-edid sends errors to stderr and the following
line 601 does not catch the error:

 last LINE if($line =~ /Something special has happened/i);

To fix the problem change line 590 to:

 open (ED,"get-edid 2>&1 |parse-edid |");

Thanks.

Bug#360249: unionfs "Permission Denied" bugfix

2006-03-31 Thread Dean Montgomery
Package: ltsp-client
Version: 0.82debian2

Problem:
Unionfs does not allow appending to files which breaks
the /etc/init.d/ltsp-client-setup script. You can duplicate the bug on the
client machine by:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] echo "test" >> /etc/issue
Permission denied.

Solution:
usr/share/ltsp-client/unionfs_cow line 20:

mount -t unionfs -o delete=whiteout,dirs=/cow=rw:${rootmnt}=ro unionfs
${rootmnt}

** should read:

mount -t unionfs -o delete=whiteout,dirs=/cow=rw:${rootmnt}=nfsro unionfs
${rootmnt}

This fixes the "Permission denied" errors seen
in /etc/init.d/ltsp-client-setup when it tries to append to nfs files.
