Bug#898991: deja-dup: Deja-Dup backups failing. Calls to dbus service timing out.

2018-05-21 Thread Don Alexander
False bug. Error was in a corrupt /var/lib/Packagekit/transaactions.db
which cause packagkitd to fail to start.

This in turn caused deja-dup not to work.

Maybe demote bug and flag it as a needed dependency.

Bug#644471: The dbconfig configuration is broken for convirt installation.

2011-10-06 Thread Don Alexander

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Subject: The dbconfig configuration is broken for convirt installation.
Package: convirt
Version: 2.0.1-6
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream

*** Please type your report below this line ***

The dbconfig configuration is broken. Although a new user (convirt) is
created as well as a new database the user has no rights at all and the
database has no tables in it. Consequentially convirt refuses to start
and only leaves cryptic paster logs. A possible reason for this is that
the /usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/convirt/install/mysql/mysql
is of zero length.

Yes I see that.. and indeed it is the same problem. The confusion comes
from doing apt-file search statictabs.xml which clearly shows it as
being in miro-data and democracy player. It might be that I am just
mixing repositories and that is causing the confusion but of so then
there must be something in either the dependencies of miro or apt that
is broken. Apt should always be pulling the latest version and I am
pinned to unstable for the most part. I don't recall installing any
other versions of miro so as far as I was away I pulled it from the
official Debian pool.

Does the version number of 2.0-1 come up when running miro? Because in
my installation it is only showing 2.0. Perhaps some revision changed that?

Ahh wait a mo.. just did apt-get install miro and another version ,
2.0-1 has been downloaded. Previously it said that there was no newer
version. Perhaps it was just bad luck and the package had not got moved
up from incoming soon enough? :)

All works now. So Thanks for all your help.

Cheers,

Don.

Yes I noticed this when after un-installing that particular module I
realised that the command had been adding members all the time and so
the command did not exit with and error. I agree it is a somewhat
misleading error message, but I am not sure how else you could handle
it. Better than the application exiting with an error because it can't
run a broken plug-in, no?

Cheers for your help :) The irony is I don't even have a WinCE device,
but that I loaded all modules by default. So for me running without it
is no biggie. But thought I'd mention it for others just in case.

Well i tried that.. re-installing it but still retain the Runtime
error. If you say it is compile at installation time then it might be
that it is looking for a particular verso of python to compile against
when the version I have on my system is:

python --version
Python 2.5.2

Is there any way to tell what version of python a module was compiled
with? according to file :

synce-opensync-plugin-2x.pyc: python 2.5 byte-compiled

Should that say 2.5.2? or not?

Just a thought.

Bug#376679: Further config info:

2006-07-04 Thread Don Alexander
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Just in case the config file parsing has changed here is the relevent
sections from my bacula-sd.conf

- --- CUT --- bacula-sd.conf
Device {
  Name = HP-C1557A #
  Media Type = DDS-3
  Archive Device = /dev/nst0
AutomaticMount = yes; # when device opened, read it
  AlwaysOpen = yes;
  RemovableMedia = yes;
  RandomAccess = no;
  Changer Command = "/etc/bacula/scripts/mtx-changer %c %o %S %a %d"
  Changer Device = /dev/sg0
  AutoChanger = yes
  Alert Command = "sh -c 'tapeinfo -f %c |grep TapeAlert|cat'"

}
- --- CUT ---

And for the record the mtx-changer script works as expected from the
command line:

- --- CUT /etc/bacula/scripts/mtx-changer /dev/sg0 list 0 /dev/nst0 0

Bug#376679: bacula: Upgrade to 1.38.11 broke autochanger config.

2006-07-04 Thread Don Alexander
Package: bacula
Version: 1.38.11-1
Severity: important

After an upgrade to 1.38.11 I am unable to update changer list from a pseudo
barcode simulator as recommended in the Bacula manual. While running bacula-sd
in debug mode it shows the changer as being recognised but that is not being
passed on for some reason. Extracts are as follows:

Bug#299486: Debian Bug report logs - #299486,Mozilla-firefox: firefox crashes

2005-03-20 Thread Don Alexander
Eric Dorland wrote:
Very odd. Have you tried moving your profile directory out of the way?
Any extensions installed?

I did one better, I created a new user just for the purpose of testing
firefox, a virgin profile if you will. Still the same, though the
official release from mozilla

(Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225
Firefox/1.0.1)

appears not to have any of these problems. I tried supplanting the
components dir of the broken-firefox content with the offical one but
that seemed not to fix anything. The only real difference between the
two binaries must therefore reside in the compiled libs that reside in
the firefox dir.

libmozjs.so
libnssckbi.so
libsmime3.so
libssl3.so
libxpistub.so
libnspr4.so
libplc4.so
libsoftokn3.chk
libxpcom_compat.so
libnss3.so
libplds4.so
libsoftokn3.so
libxpcom.so
ok a bit of supposition I know, but if I knew which lib was responsible
for input editing and history lists I'd put money on that being flawed
in some way. And no, I have not browsed too closely at the source tree,
I was hoping someone else had already had more intimate knowledge than
myself.

Let me know if this is helping or hindering things? ;)
Cheers,
Don.

Bug#299486: Debian Bug report logs - #299486,Mozilla-firefox: firefox crashes

2005-03-18 Thread Don Alexander
I can also confirm this occurs for me too using:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050306
Firefox/1.0.1 (Debian package 1.0.1-2)

However I notice the history list has disappeared and also that if I
press any arrow keys in any input boxes (the address bar , google search
bar etc) it also causes a instant crash. I am going to check cross
compatibilty with various libc and libg++ functions to see if the two
are related.

In it's current state though this package is unusable and I would
definately caution people to think before upgrading.

Later,
Don.
