Bug#353266: Mailscanner causing false positive phishing frauds for quoted URLs and some TLDs

2006-02-17 Thread Fabian Hugelshofer
Package: mailscanner
Version: 4.41.3-2

An email containing a link like this

http://www.anydomain.com";>"http://www.anydomain.com";

is wrongly treated as phishing fraud causing the following message in
the mail body:

MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from
"www.anydomain.com" claiming to be "www.anydomain.com"

By sending several test mails I found out that the error is caused by
the quotes and the TLD.

http://www.anydomain.ch";>"http://www.anydomain.ch";
http://www.anydomain.com";>http://www.anydomain.com

Are clean, wheareas quotes and TLD .com and at least .info are causing
false positives. Or perhaps the quotes and TLD .ch is a false negative,
what I do not believe. At least there ist a dissonance.

Unfortunately my bank sends its announcements containing a link with
quotes and TLD .info to view the message in the browser (if it's not
displayed correctly). The false positive changes the body so that the
signature becomes invalid. Of course I do not want to put the banks URL
into the phishing.safe.sites.conf.

I'm using Debian Sarge with Kernel 2.4.27.

I don't know if I should notice [EMAIL PROTECTED] or if this
is done by the package maintainter. How is this handled?

Bug#354190: siproxd: invalid argument for format string

2006-02-24 Thread Fabian Pietsch
Package: siproxd
Version: 1:0.5.10+cvs20050423-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

In proxy.c, functions proxy_request() and proxy_response(), an argument
of type osip_uri_t* is used for a "%s" conversion specification. However,
osip_uri_t is a struct; it seems like what really was meant is its member
"host" of type char*.

This seems to only affect siproxd if debug output is activated,
DBCLASS_PROXY is included in debug_level and a host name read from the
network cannot be resolved. By chance I happened to hit it all the same. ;)
Luckily, on my system, a NUL byte was less than 20 bytes of garbage away.

The code in question is also present in 1:0.5.11-1 (testing, unstable),
as proxy.c is identical to 1:0.5.10+cvs20050423-1 (before applying
debian patches). In current upstream (24Feb2006), the code has been
removed from the two functions in proxy.c, but added to
sip_find_direction() in sip_utils.c, still containing the bug.

Bug#352715: gnome-control-center: strange behaviour of /usr/lib/control-center/gnome-settings-daemon

2006-02-13 Thread Fabian Greffrath
package: gnome-control-center
version: 1:2.12.2-2
severity: serious

Hi!

I want to change my keyboard settings in 'gnome-keyboard-properties'.
Whenever I change one setting in the 'Layouts' or 'Layout Settings' Tab,
the look of the window changes as if something changed my gtk-theme.
This even effects my desktop icons! After about 5 seconds, everything is
back to normal.

I found out, that '/usr/lib/control-center/gnome-settings-daemon' is
reloaded everytime I change one of the options. I even got
'/usr/bin/gnome-session' to crash, by changing some options rapidly
without waiting for the settings-daemon to be completely reloaded!

After logging in again, GNOME kept crashing and crashing due to
'/usr/bin/gnome-session' and I could not manage to get it running again.
`killall gconfd-2 && rm -rf ~/.gconf*` finally helped!
I do not know if this is reproducable, because I did not try...

Please try to fix this.

Thank you very much,

Bug#342578: checkinstall leaves system in unusable state

2005-12-08 Thread Fabian Greffrath
package: checkinstall
version: 1.5.3-3
severity: grave

Hello!

I wanted to use checkinstall to create a 'Sun Java JRE' Package out of
Sun's self-installing bin-file. So I started
'checkinstall ./jre-1_5_0-$foo.bin' as root several times and tried out
some of the options to make the package meet my needs.

After playing around with checkinstall a bit, a severe problem occured
on my system:
I could not log in as a normal user anymore but only as root. Trying to
log in as a normal user allways gave the error message 'no shell'.
Programs like exim4, sudo and gdm did not work anymore either.

After a lot of work and time I found out that the permissions of the
base dir '/' were set to 700! So a simple 'chmod 755 /' was the
solution.

Nevertheless I have not been far away from reinstalling Debian!

I do not know if 'checkinstall' itself or 'installwatch' are blamable on
this, but I think that it MUST be guaranteed that no program leaves your
system in such a state. No matter if the user has done a handling
error / faulty operation or not.

I send a bcc-copy to the upstream author as well!

Nice Greetings,
Fabian

Bug#342578: checkinstall leaves system in unusable state

2005-12-09 Thread Fabian Greffrath

> Well, the first thing that would be useful to know is exactly what

Well, I did not use any command line parameters with checkinstall. When
I got asked for a package description I simply typed 'JRE', the package
name was 'fabian' and I changed the version number to '1.5', because
'dpkg' wants it to be a number.
That's what I *guess* to be the latest settings. As I stated before, the
errors occured when I wanted to get back from root to a normal user. So
there have been some minutes running 'dpkg -c' and 'dpkg -I' and similar
to test the package...

After some googling I found out that there are people who had the same
problem after using checkinstall.

German Debian Forum:
<http://beta.debianforum.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=51830>
Ubuntu Forum:
<http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?mode=hybrid&t=54147>

In the German forum the user tells that he tried to cancel checkinstall
via 'ctrl+c' because he forgot to set some settings.
Same for me! I also remember I have canceled one (or more) of the
several checkinstall runs beacuse I entered wrong settings accidentally
(e.g. non-digit version number, 'yes' to include temporary files from
home dir, etc.).

I guess that is where the bug hides!
Wehen you cancel checkinstall at the wrong point, some restrictions are
not set back?!

Well, I understand what you are going to tell me, BUT:
'rm' is a program to delete files, 'checkinstall' is not a program to
set permissions. I would never send a bug report to the 'chmod'
maintainer because I accidentelly set my filesystem's permissions to 700
myself!
And, as I stated before, I did not use different options that touch
checkinstall, but played around with settings like package description,
version, etc...

Bug#346183: openoffice.org-common depends on l10n-en-us

2006-01-06 Thread Fabian Greffrath
package: openoffice.org-common
version: 2.0.0-5

Hello!

I installed OpenOffice.org 2.0.0-5 and wondered, why the US-English
language pack is automatically installed as well.
I live in Germany, speak German and want only the German language pack
to be installed. ;)

I found out, that 'openoffice.org-core' depends on
'openoffice.org-l10n-en-us (> 2.0.0) | openoffice.org-l10n-2.0.0' and
'openoffice.org-common', while 'openoffice.org-common' depends on
'openoffice.org-l10n-en-us' and 'openoffice.org-core'.

As a consequence it is not possible to install OpenOffice.org 2.0.0-5
without the US-English language pack due to the dependencies of
'openoffice.org-common'.

Would it be possible to make 'openoffice.org-common' depend on
'openoffice.org-l10n-en-us (> 2.0.0) | openoffice.org-l10n-2.0.0' as
well?

Thank you!

Nice Greetings,
Fabian.

Bug#346422: gnumeric: error in german translation (trying to export text)

2006-01-07 Thread Fabian Greffrath
package: gnumeric
version: 1.6.1-2

Hello!

There must be an error in the German translation of gnumeric.

If I start gnumeric via 'LANG=C gnumeric' and try to save my workbook as
Text (i.e. 'Text export (configurable)') , I have three choices
concerning Quoting:
- Automatic (puts quotes where needed)
- Always
- Never

But if I start gnumeric via 'LANG=de_DE gnumeric' and want to do the
same, I have only two choices left:
- Automatisch (wenn nötig, Anführungszeichen setzen)Immer
- Nie

Translated into Englisch this means:
- Automatic (puts quotes where needed)Always
- Never

The second option 'Nie'(='Never') behaves as 'Always' which is very
annoying, too.

Please try to fix this!

Thank you very much,
Fabian

As far as I can tell, debhelper 4 would be enough to build this package.
To ease backporting, I suggest lowering the build-dep to debhelper
(>= 4.0.0) and saying "4" in debian/compat.

(I know that upstream is planning to fold this code into synfig, but
until that happens...)

Thanks :)

Bug#347538: etl: doxygen config includes obsolete options

Package: etl
Version: 0.04.07-2

Just documenting the fact that upstream apparently is or has been using
a version of doxygen that is older than what is currently in unstable.
Some options from that old version are now obsolete and thus doxygen
issues several warnings during the build.

A good idea would be to help upstream by providing an updated
doxygen.cfg.

Bug#347754: ratpoison: 1.4.0-beta4-4 crashes immediately upon launch

2006-01-12 Thread fabian linzberger
Package: ratpoison
Version: 1.4.0-beta4-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

hi,

usually ratpoison is launched via "exec ratpoison" in ~/.xsession, however after
the recent upgrade to 1.4.0-beta4-4 it immediately terminates.
~/.xsession-errors
does not seem to contain useful information.

downgrading to 1.3.0-7 immediately fixes the issue.

if you have trouble reproducing this, feel free to ask for more information.

thanks

there is the question if this will duplicate the functionality of

i will create a package by the end of the weekend, and start
beta-testing/looking for a sponsor afterwards. check this bug for

must upload this to the archive yourself, now. just do so, and drop me

Bug#338348: udhcpc: false option to resolvconf

2005-11-09 Thread Fabian Kneißl
Package: udhcpc
Severity: normal

System description:

Problem description (steps to proceed):
1. ifup eth0
   => Interface is up,
in /etc/resolvconf/run/interface/ are the files eth0.inet,
  eth0.dhcpc
2. ifdown eth0
   => Interface is down,
in /etc/resolvconf/run/interface/ is the file eth0.dhcpc,

Proposed solution:
Change the parameter with which resolvconf is revoked:

resolvconf -[ad] "${interface}.udhcpc"

If you think, this is a problem of the resolvconf-package, please
forward it to them.

Bug#304892: /etc/cron.daily/apticron should fail silently if apticron is removed

2005-04-16 Thread fabian linzberger

after removing (not purging) apticron from my system i receive the
following report from the cronjob:

/etc/cron.daily/apticron: line 4: /usr/sbin/apticron: No such file or directory
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/apticron exited with return code 1

(which is not that exiting news)

/etc/cron.daily/apticron seems to be a config file which doesn't get
removed, so it should test for the availability of /usr/sbin/apticron
before attempting to run it. most cron files have examples for this
kind of usage.

With uptimed-0.3.3-2, this change seems te be incorporated all the same.

In a quick test with a modified records file to set an uptime record soon,
everything worked just well.

So should this bug perhaps be closed now?

(Might #274635 be somehow related? It seems the MAIL_MINIMUM_POSITION
support was added after woody; the config var is not present on that
woody uptimed.conf)

Bug#307366: libpam-pgsql: new package misses features/fixes from NMUs

2005-05-02 Thread Fabian Knittel
Package: libpam-pgsql
Version: 0.5.2-8
Severity: important

Hi,

since 0.5.2-8 the perfectly working MD5 support included in 0.5.2-7.2
has been removed again. Apparently the fixes from the NMUs since 0.5.2-7
weren't included (at least the changelog completely omits them -
although this might be common practice for non-NMUs, INADD).

Please re-upload a package including the features from 0.5.2-7.2.
Currently the package is unusable for us (authentication fails for pgsql
and drops through to the next PAM module in the stack, although all SQL
querys complete successfully - so I assume crypt() fails to handle the
MD5-Crypt-hash).

I don't know why crypt fails to verify MD5-Crypt hashes with this
package and succeeds with 0.5.2-7.2, but whatever was changed should be
changed again. :-)

(Note: Before 0.5.2-7.2 came out we had to patch 0.5.2-7.1 to use a
hard-coded md5_crypt crypt() function, as some sort of library weirdness
caused it to only accept DES-hashes. Somehow this was fixed and now
reintroduced.)

Bug#203222: libpam-modules: Can't change expired password with NIS

This appears to be fixed upstream since Linux-PAM 0.78. The following
patch adds checks to make sure only "nis" and "file" methods are
attempted:

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/pam/Linux-PAM/modules/pam_unix/pam_unix_passwd.c?r1=1.16&r2=1.17
(all in one line)

So I suggest this bug gets tagged 'fixed-upstream' (although I haven't
tested the upstream code myself).

Btw. this bug also prevents me from using 'passwd' instead of
'yppasswd' (which currently forces everything to DES for shadow setups).

Nevertheless, thanks for your packaging work :-)

problem and temporarly I have no other Debian Sid box for testing
issues.

Thanks for your great work anyway!

Cheers,
Fabian.

Bug#332598: unace as alternative

2005-10-07 Thread Fabian Greffrath
package: unace

Hi!

Please consider handling the unace binary as 'alternatives',
allowing it to coexist with proprietary versions (=2.20) of unace,
which can be downloaded from unofficial repositories.

Thank you in advance.

Bug#324910: /etc/cron.monthly/acct typo results in no meaningful ac output in /var/log/wtmp.report if logrotate is installed

2005-08-24 Thread Fabian Pietsch
Package: acct
Version: 6.3.5-39
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

In /etc/cron.monthly/acct, a monthly report of system and user activity
logged in the wtmp file is generated; part of this is the following:

if [ -f $LOGROTATE ] && [ -x /usr/sbin/logrotate ]
then
[...]
ac -f $WTMP /var/log/wtmp.1 -p | sort -nr +1 >> /var/log/wtmp.report
[...]
else
ac -p | sort -nr +1 >> /var/log/wtmp.report
[...]
fi

In the second case, the invocation of ac would summarize connect/login
times for all users; in the first, it would do likewise for the user
/var/log/wtmp.1 which doesn't exist, so the only ac output will be:

total0.00

The additional parameter to ac seems to have been left when $WTMP was
introduced, probably in a fix in acct-6.3.5-38.2, and should most
probably be removed to restore functionality.

Bug#321772: Module ns558 needs to be loaded twice to work properly

2005-08-29 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Hi!

I am sorry to tell you that the patches did not work with the current
kernel-source-2.6.8 (2.6.8-16)!

I tried with both gcc-3.3 and gcc-3.4 and allways got the following
error message from make-kpkg:

I do not know if it is my fault, but I did not get it compiled at all
after applying the patches.
By the way, I had to apply the patches in the order ns558-pnp.diff
first, ns558-load.diff second,

else `patch` would tell me

patching file ns558.c

I would appreciate if you could build a kernel-image for me, so I could
test it on my PC at home.

I was not able to make one myself... *shame* :(

Thank you in advance! ;)

Nice greetings,
Fabian

I strongly suspect that this patch fixes this problem
http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=f6397cecadc52779902bdd8f8cd3ea5af3a19ad1

That patch also depends on this patch, which
seems to fix some more insmod/rmmod nastiness

http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/old-2.6-bkcvs.git;a=blobdiff;h=7c5c6318eeb9ffad3b1798fca4e1a13b8239689e;hp=f31ce0bad57942b7a66f01540b3816ed2ced8762;hb=913a66fbd55ce7ed0191d267306d6fa3181d98b1;f=drivers/input/gameport/ns558.c

I've attached thes second patches as ns558-load.diff and
the first patch as ns558-pnp.diff. (They need to be
applied in that order). If I make images are you in a position
to test them. Alternatively, you could try
linux-image-2.6.12-1-k7 image from unstable.

Bug#325721: Segmentation fault when used to compile bmp-/xmms-musepack

2005-08-30 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Package: libtag1-dev
Version: 1.3.1

Hello!

I have used the current libtag1-dev to build musepack plugins for bmp
and xmms,

which can be found as source archives at <http://www.musepack.net/>.

Compilation went fine, but both players crashed with a "segmentation fault"
whenever I wanted to load a musepack (MPC) file.

The same bug is described in detail in the musepack forum (follow link,
4th entry)

and debugging showed that the bug was in taglib 1.3.1:

<http://www.musepack.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=202>

In the topic they also give a link to a patch for libtag 1.3.1, which
solves the problem.

<http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/taglib-devel/2005-May/000129.html>

Somebody else claims that the bug disappeared in taglib 1.4!

Please consider applying the patch or switch to new upstream version!

Thank you in advance!

Nice Greetings,
Fabian

Bug#333264: evolution crashes with evolution-plugins installed

2005-10-11 Thread Fabian Greffrath
package: evolution
version: 2.2.3-4

Hi!

With evolution-plugins installed, evolution crashes whenever it comes to
vieweing an email in the preview window. My only chance to keep
evolution from crashing immediately at start-up is to click into the
'templates'-folder within the split second the program starts up. I have
no templates saved, which could be shown in the window...

Then, as soon as I click into my inbox folder, evolution crashes!

I do not know, how reproducable this is, but with the evolution-plugins
uninstalled, the error did not occur anymore.

Greetings,
Fabian

Bug#332598: unace as alternative

2005-10-13 Thread Fabian Greffrath
(Oops, my first response did not contain a cc to the bts...)

Hi Guillem!

Am Samstag, den 08.10.2005, 16:34 +0300 schrieb Guillem Jover:
> With this do you mean coexist with another debian package with the
> same name, but greater version?

I guess it would be hardly possible for two different packages with the
same name to coexist on a Debian system...?!

Well, the reason why I wrote the request for using the alternatives
system is that I want to package a newer, non-free version of unace for
.
It's a site which is all about packages, that are not in the official
Debian archive for e.g. legal reasons. We do *not* want to offer
packages which compete with official Debian ones, but offer non-free
alternatives.

The unace-package will be called something like unace2-binary and it
will provide the files /usr/bin/unace and /usr/man/man1/unace.1 (which
will be your manpage revised for unace version 2.xx) among others.
Because we do not want our package to conflict with the free unace in
Debian (your package), but coexist, both of us need to use the
alternatives system for the forementioned files.

By the way, the version of unace we are going to package is 2.20, since
2.50 is undistributable due to a license change. The upstream author is
allready contacted about that...

Nice Greetings,
Fabian

Bug#334326: treat nano as an alternative to pico

2005-10-17 Thread Fabian Greffrath
package: nano
severity: wishlist

Hi!

Your nano package contains a file /usr/bin/pico which is a link
to /usr/bin/nano.
The existance of this file makes it impossible for Debian users to
install the "original" pico from external sources and open it with the
original command "pico" if they want to.

Since nano is not pico, but provides an alternative to it, I would
appreciate, if you use Debian's alternatives system to
link /usr/bin/pico to /usr/bin/nano. Users who want to build packages
for the original pico then can choose to link /usr/bin/pico
to /usr/bin/pico-nonfree or similar.

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,
Fabian

Bug#326699: gthumb: please add rotate buttons to icon bar

2005-09-04 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Package: gthumb
Version: 2.6.3-1.1
Severity: wishlist

Hello!

When I open a set of pictures I recently imported from my digital camera,
I am missing a feature to rotate some single pictures with one mouse click.

It works fine in the "Folders"-view where you may click "Rotate Images"
in the icon bar and then select rotation for one picture or all.

What I want is open single pictures in the "Image"-view, zap through them
("Next" and "Previous" buttons) and rotate them one by one if needed.
By now I have to do this via menu: Image -> Transform -> Rotate left /
right / ...

A set of buttons for "rotate left / right / flip / mirror" next to the
"zoom" buttons

would be very appreciated ;)

Thanks in advance,
Fabian.

Bug#327329: wanted: use synaptic to install local deb files

2005-09-09 Thread Fabian Greffrath

package: synaptic
severity: wishlist

Hello!

It would be great if one could open locally stored .deb files in synaptic
and choose to install them with all their dependencies.
Something like a graphical frontend to `dpkg -i $pkg && apt-get -f install`.

Also, synaptic could be connected to .deb files via MIME, so that
opening a file in nautilus etc. will run synaptic showing you the
description, maintainer, dependencies, file contents, etc...
and finally lets you click "install", asks for root password and installs.

Do you thing this would be possible?!

Thank you in advance,
Fabian

Hi,

www.tmac is included in groff, but not in groff-base.

If only groff-base is installed, which was the case on my system,
this leads to all uses of .URL macros being skipped in the man page

(if not useless).

Bug#193849: procmail adds a blank line at the end of forwarded mail messages

2005-07-28 Thread Fabian Pietsch
Hi,

being a procmail user for quite some time, I just set up spamassassin as
a procmail filter and got the same problem of an added newline at the
end of (single-line) messages as described in #193849.

After applying the patch proposed by Santiago Vila back in 2003 and
rebuilding the procmail package locally, the problem disappeared.

Personally I'd like this patch to be reconsidered for inclusion at least

Bug#193849: procmail adds a blank line at the end of forwarded mail messages

2005-07-28 Thread Fabian Pietsch
Hi,

apparently I haven't been using procmail long enough. :)

Using flags "frw" instead of "fw" for the spamassassin receipt sets
procmail to "raw mode" so it doesn't append newlines. (Also documented
in the procmail man page just like this... Just that spamassassin
examples don't use "r", so I didn't look... :/ )

So could the original reporter perhaps have fixed his forwarding problem
as well with this flag?

Bug#320610: libsane: libsane.hotplug hook script fails to set permissions

2005-07-30 Thread Fabian Fagerholm
Package: libsane
Version: 1.0.15-9
Severity: important

The /etc/hotplug.d/usb/libsane.hotplug script fails to set the ownership
and permissions of my USB device node. (I have an Epson CX6400 connected
by USB.) The problem is that the device node (for example,
/proc/bus/usb/001/002) does not yet exist when the script issues the
chown/chmod commands. I verified this by having the script do an "ls -l"
into a temporary file just before the chown/chmod.

I don't know the exact reason for this. Maybe the machine is too slow or
maybe the script is run before the kernel has had a chance to update /proc.
In any case, inserting a "sleep 5" before the chown/chmod allowed the
device node to appear and the script to succeed.

Bug#322958: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap: duplicate attributeType in mod_vhost_ldap.schema

2005-08-13 Thread Fabian Fagerholm
Package: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap
Version: 0.2.1-1
Severity: normal

The file /usr/share/doc/libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap/mod_vhost_ldap.schema
contains an LDAP schema suitable for use with mod-vhost-ldap. However,
the attribute types apacheSuexecUid and apacheSuexecGid have the same
OIDs, resulting in an error when starting slapd.

It looks like the correct OID for apacheSuexecGid should be
1.3.6.1.4.1.8387.1.1.7 -- perhaps it could be corrected and confirmed
with the owner of the OIDs.

Bug#323007: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap: does not set DOCUMENT_ROOT environment variable

2005-08-13 Thread Fabian Fagerholm
Package: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap
Version: 0.2.1-1
Severity: normal

libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap does not set DOCUMENT_ROOT even though it does
provide Apache with the correct value for the DocumentRoot directive.
This means it doesn't work with suPHP's check_vhost_docroot option,
which checks whether a PHP script is within the DocumentRoot directory
before allowing it to run.

I haven't yet investigated how this could be fixed, just recording my
findings.

Bug#323006: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap: apacheScriptAlias attribute must be present

2005-08-13 Thread Fabian Fagerholm
Package: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap
Version: 0.2.1-1
Severity: important

I noticed that if the apacheScriptAlias attribute is not present in the
LDAP directory, the module will return NULL as filename, resulting in
the vhost to break.

I quickly cooked up a patch, which is probably completely wrong. It
makes the module decline if ScriptAlias is not defined. It also fixes a
comment typo.

In addition to this, the apacheConfig objectclass should have MUST (
apacheServerName & apacheDocumentRoot & apacheScriptAlias ) so that it
reflects the behavior of the code.

On the other hand, I think the correct fix would be to not require this
attribute and instead have the code behave correctly without it. I made
some simple changes and the second attached patch is an attempt to fix
this, although I suspect my lack of sleep means it's no good... ;-)

It would be nice if file-roller and nautilus could cooperate in a way,
that dragging a file out of file-roller into a folder in nautilus unzips
it from the archive into that folder.

The other way, dragging a file into file-roller should add it to the
current archive

or ask for creating a new archive.

Bug#323190: Musik Player: Please arrange radio browser more clearly

2005-08-15 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Package: rhythmbox
Version: 0.8.8-13
Severity: wishlist

I find my favourite radio stations via the shoutcast webpage and want to
add them to the radio list in rhythmbox.

As an example I select the "Frequence 3 - Una Rafale De Tubes" radio
station.

This station has 18 servers for their broadcast.
Consequently, 18 new entries (one for each server) are added to my radio
list in rhythmbox,

although there is only one new radio station.

After adding 2 or 3 of those multi-server radio stations, clearity is
completely lost in the radio list :(

My suggestion is to combine all those servers into a tree-view for the
radio stations' name.

Something like:

[+] Frequence 2 - Some Radio Station
[-] Frequence 3 - Una Rafale De Tubes
+- (#1 - 394/1000)
+- (#2 - 122/300)
+- (...)
+- (#18 - 245/250)
[+] Frequence 4 - Some other Radio Station
[+] Frequence 5 - Yet another one

Greetings,
Fabian

Bug#323785: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap: segfault with worker mpm, suexec and cgid

2005-08-18 Thread Fabian Fagerholm
Package: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap
Version: 0.2.3-1
Severity: important

mod-vhost-ldap segfaults when used with the Apache2 worker MPM, with
suExec and cgid enabled. (The Debian packages ensure cgid is used
with the worker MPM.)

Here is a gdb backtrace, suitably cut:

(gdb) bt

#2 0x08095c85 in ap_os_create_privileged_process ()
#3 0x40586506 in ?? () from /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_cgid.so

The module tries to do

mod_vhost_ldap_config_t *cfg =
  (mod_vhost_ldap_config_t *)ap_get_module_config(r->server->module_config,
  &vhost_ldap_module);

Which fails because r->server->module_config is null. At least I think
that's why it fails.

(gdb) print r->server->module_config
$1 = (struct ap_conf_vector_t *) 0x0

I'm trying to figure out what this means, just recording this here.

Bug#323830: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap: MIN_UID and MIN_GID could be lowered

2005-08-18 Thread Fabian Fagerholm
Package: libapache2-mod-vhost-ldap
Version: 0.2.3-1
Severity: wishlist

Looking at suExec and suPHP, they both set the minimum required uid and
gid to 100. Currently mod-vhost-ldap sets it to 1000, which prevents
running certain Debian-packaged system cgi scripts that are owned by
uids 100 to 999. It would be good to allow running them as something
else than www-data.

Perhaps MIN_UID and MIN_GID could be set to 100?

Bug#319005: apt-proxy: workaround for apt-proxy-import failure

2005-08-05 Thread Fabian Pietsch
Hi,

I've been having the same problems, also with the sarge version of
apt-proxy. The problem really seems to arise from compressed Packages
files.

The source[1] suggests that Release and Packages files have to be
"registered" by apt-proxy for some reason; when running apt-get update
through apt-proxy, it unfortunately only registers the Release file, not
the Packages.gz (as indicated through "REGISTERING PACKAGE" log
messages, missing for the Packages.gz file).

As a workaround, I've tried to download the uncompressed Packages file
manually through apt-proxy, but first only ended up with exceptions in
the apt-proxy log and an apt-proxy that was unresponsive to that
specific backend until a restart(, i.e., client connections hung).

Further investigation (trial & error.. ) showed that it's the
order that's important; at first, the compressed Packages file has to be
requested, and (immediately?) after that the uncompressed. Surprisingly
enough, according to apt-proxy logs it "verify"s/uncompresses the
compressed Packages file then instead of downloading the full
uncompressed file (at least with .gz), then correctly registers it.

After apt-proxy had registered the Packages files of my backends,
apt-proxy-import finally worked. (It couldn't import some (few)
packages, though, but most of them were removed from the archive by then
or got imported on a second run (whyever).)

I'd be interested what other consequences (lack of) registering Packages
files has besides apt-proxy-import functionality -- should the
workaround be repeated once in a while for proper long-term apt-proxy
functionality?

Here's a shell script fragment that works around the lack of Packages
files registration for me as described above, using wget:

  for URL in \

http://localhost:/debian/dists/sarge/{main,contrib,non-free}/binary-i386/Packages
 \

http://localhost:/security/dists/sarge/updates/{main,contrib,non-free}/binary-i386/Packages
  do
wget -nv -O /dev/null "$URL.gz" "$URL"
  done

Bug#321772: Module ns558 needs to be loaded twice to work properly

2005-08-07 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-k7
Version: 2.6.8-16

I am filing this bug against this specific kernel version, although I do
not know, if other kernel versions are affected, too!

My system consists of an ASUS A7N8X (Targa Edition, Rev 1.04, Bios 1028)
running a nForce2 chipset.

There is a Gravis Gamepad Pro (Rev 4) connected to the board's gameport.

I have the modules "joydev" and "grip" loaded, "analog" is not loaded.

This is what I have to do to get the gameport working:

# modprobe -v ns558
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-k7/kernel/drivers/input/gameport/ns558.ko

#dmesg
(...)
input: Gravis GamePad Pro on isa0201/gameport0
gameport: NS558 ISA at 0x201 speed 685 kHz
pnp: Device 00:11 disabled.
ns558: probe of 00:11 failed with error -16

-> this is quite strange, because the gameport chipset (ns558) ist the
isapnp version!

# ls /dev/input/js*
ls: /dev/input/js*: No such file or directory

# modprobe -vr ns558
rmmod /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-k7/kernel/drivers/input/gameport/ns558.ko

# modprobe -v ns558
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-k7/kernel/drivers/input/gameport/ns558.ko

#dmesg
(...)
pnp: Device 00:11 activated.
input: Gravis GamePad Pro on pnp00:11/gameport0
gameport: NS558 PnP at pnp00:11 io 0x201 speed 685 kHz

# ls /dev/input/js*
/dev/input/js0

So I have to insmod, rmmod and insmod again the module "ns558" in order
to get it working properly!

BTW: He seems to have just the same problem:

Nice Greetings,
Fabian

Bug#295132: sendmail-base: should depend on netbase

2005-02-13 Thread Fabian Roth
Package: sendmail-base
Version: 8.13.2-1
Severity: minor

the packaged configuration file includes a line reffering to the
service "submission". however, this service has not always been
listed in /etc/services . hence sendmail-base should depend on
the a netbase revision including the service "submission".

i encountered this when partly upgrading from woody to sarge.

the problem seems to go away, if i apt-get source openmcl, build the
package locally and install that one. as far as i can tell, things
work fine now. let me know if i can do anything to help you reproduce
this.

Bug#283794: cdda2wav: invalid code in cdda2mp3 caused by broken patch

2005-02-07 Thread Fabian Pietsch
Package: cdda2wav
Version: 4:2.0+a34-2
Followup-For: Bug #283794
Tags: patch

The invalid code in /usr/bin/cdda2mp3 previously reported is caused by a
broken patch in debian/patches/03_script.dpatch:

Compare the part against cdda2mp3..

 # specify the sampling program and its options
 # do not specify the track option here!
-CDDA2WAV=cdda2wav
-CDDA2WAV_OPTS='-H -P0 -q'
+MP_CODER=${MP_CODER:-oggenc}
+MP_OPTIONS=${MP_OPTIONS:-''}

..to that against cdda2ogg:

 # specify the sampling program and its options
 # do not specify the track option here!
-CDDA2WAV=cdda2wav
-CDDA2WAV_OPTS='-H -P0 -q'
+CDDA2WAV=${CDDA2WAV:-cdda2wav}
+CDDA2WAV_OPTS=${CDDA2WAV_OPTS:-'-H -P0 -q'}

This is most probably due to a copy & paste error during patch creation.
As a result, cdda2mp3 won't run cdda2wav, provided the user hasn't
previously set $CDDA2WAV in the environment.

A patch against 03_script.dpatch is attached that also changes the
insertion ordering slightly, so that the resulting cdda2mp3/cdda2ogg
look more similar where they *are* similar. (Try diff-ing them as
they're in the final package now!)

For convenience, the resulting 03_script.dpatch is also attached.

Regards,
Fabian

P.S.: Shouldn't the $NAME part in cdda2ogg better be used in cdda2mp3, too?

anyway, since i can install fine with dpkg -i and it actually works,
there is no justification for severity of grave anymore. still keeping
it open, since i can recreate it reliably over here.
