Bug#348960: Unable to reproduce

Just tried again with 2.4.2.1-2 and the bug is still there. > Can you verify that you still see this, and if you do, try to detail the > steps even more? I forgot about something: the option "Archive as" (don't know if this is the correct translation, it's the field near "Full name"). When you do steps as I said, first Evolution shows something like this: Full name: Abc Cde Efg Archive as: Abc Efg But when you put "Cde" as part of the last name, it shows: Full name: Abc Cde Efg Archive as: Abc Cde Efg In other words, it changes a field. So, these are the really correct steps to reproduce: 1) Create a new contact, say "Abc Cde Efg" 2) Evolution will create as: - First name: Abc - Middle name: Cde - Last name: Efg 3) Open the window to edit that contact and change its "Archive as" field to anything else, say: - Archive as: Foo Bar 4) Close that window clicking on "Ok". 5) Open it again and change its name to: - First name: Abc - Middle name: - Last name: Cde Efg Note that when gluing Abc + Cde + Efg you get the same as Abc + Cde Efg, so the field that displays the full name on the edit window remains the same. 6) The "Ok" button is disabled and you can't save your modified contact, albeit you really did a change. > Thanks Cheers, -- Felipe. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#357128: GNOME menu crashes gnome-panel when LC_ALL=pt_BR.UTF8
Package: gnome-panel Version: 2.12.3-1 Severity: important Hi, When the gnome-panel is started with LANG and LC_ALL set to pt_BR.UTF8 (or pt_BR.ISO8859-1, but pt_PT works fine) and I click on the GNOME foot to open the menu, gnome-panel segfaults strangly. I tried to find out if a menu entry could be causing this without success. Bug#352448: liferea: Correction of a phrase in pt_BR
Package: liferea Version: 1.0.3-2 Severity: minor Tags: l10n Hi, I don't know where in the source code this is defined, sorry, but the phrase must probably be something like O conteúdo "%s" não foi modificado desde há última atualização (it states that "The contents of '%s' we're not modified since the last update.") But in pt_BR it should be O conteúdo de "%s" não foi modificado desde a última atualização Mistaking "há" for "a" here in Brazil is seen as a really bad mistake and as such one can think that nobody cares about the quality of the translations after seeing this phrase. We know mistakes can happen, but some users think programmers and translators should be perfect. Bug#350509: liferea: does not cache images in feeds
Package: liferea Version: 1.0.2-1 Severity: normal Hi, Currently Liferea does not cache images in the feeds, so loading things like the RSS from art.gnome.org can be a bit painful as he loads the icon of the site *always* before the thumbnail (and I have to always wait him downloading the same thing). Besides, I *think* he closes the connection everytime, but I have not tracked this down. A really nice solution would be to load images as it loads the feed and keep them ready to be used! Bug#349831: python-reportlab: Stacked 3D bars are incorrectly drawn
Package: python-reportlab Version: 1.20debian-2 Severity: important Tags: patch Hi! When drawing a stacked 3D bar, for example... a=HorizontalBarChart3D(mydata) a.categoryAxis.style = "stacked" ...the bars are drawn in the wrong order. The bars were somewhat disaligned and the 3D effect was making everything worse rather than better. Looking at how they're drawn, I found out that the solution is very simple: just reverse the order it draws the bars. In the makeBars function of the abstract class BarChart3D it's just need to change the line 558 from... for t in fg.value(): ...to... fg_value=fg.value() fg_value.reverse() for t in fg_value: I'm attaching the modified file from python2.3-reportlab. If you try to import more than 300 files with the Metadata Searcher plugin, Banshee eventually enters on a deadlock because of locking issues with the SQLite database. Bug#349075: python-reportlab-doc shouldn't contain RML_UserGuide_1_0.pdf
Package: python-reportlab-doc Version: 1.20debian-2 Severity: normal Hi! Bug#348960: evolution: Contact edit's "ok" buttons is sometimes misleading
Package: evolution Version: 2.4.2.1-1 Severity: normal Hi! I'll explain while telling you how to reproduce the problem: 1) Create a new contact, say "Abc Cde Efg" 2) Evolution will create as: - First name: Abc - Middle name: Cde - Last name: Efg 3) So open the window to edit that contact and change its name to: - First name: Abc - Middle name: - Last name: Cde Efg *) Note that when glueing Abc + Cde + Efg you get the same as Abc + Cde Efg, so the field that shows up the full name on the edit window remains the same. 4) Now try to click "Ok" to save the contact. You can't. It thinks you didn't change anything, but you did. The workaround is to add and remove a space (or any other character) from any field so he thinks you changed something. Bug#334782: gcalctool: Sqrt button works only when LC_ALL=C
Package: gcalctool Version: 5.6.31-1 Followup-For: Bug #334782 Hi! The problem with the Sqrt button occurs when you try to use LC_ALL=pt_BR.UTF-8. (I don't know if it happens on others locales too, but when I execute LC_ALL=C gcalctool it works perfectly). To see the bug, try: 1) Press the Sqrt button (in pt_BR it's named Raiz). 2) Type, for example, "2". 3) Close the function pressing ")". 4) Calculate with "=". If you try on LC_ALL=C, it works as expected, if you try on LC_ALL=pt_BR.UTF-8, it says "Expressão mal formada" (probably "Malformed expression" in LC_ALL=C). I think this is a grave bug, and I think it's related with the fact that the button is named "Raiz" instead of "Sqrt". After fixing this bug, couldn't you put an universal square root simbol? ;-). Bug#343842: azureus: Icons (the pixmaps) on the toolbar are changed
Package: azureus Version: 2.3.0.6-1 Severity: important On the toolbar of Azureus there's an icon for opening a torrent (1) and another one for opening a torrent without downloading anything (2). [I won't say the names here because my Azureus is not in English, so they wouldn't be useful.] Their icons differ only by a tiny lock, meaning that the program will be locked not to change the file, which obviously represents the action of (2). However, they are changed, and the lock is on (1), while (2) is clear. I know what each of them mean, but what if it was the first time I ran Azureus? I would be lost. Maybe this problem is related to my configurations. I think it's not, but I didn't test Azureus on a clean user. If you think it's something here, contact me and I create a test user for this. Bug#340006: liferea: An option of deleting the lock file should be given
Package: liferea Version: 0.9.7b+test1.0rc3-1 Severity: wishlist Hello, When Liferea is killed, for example, its lock file (~/.liferea/lock) isn't deleted. After this, if you try to open Liferea again you'll be presented with non-friendly error dialog saying that "if there is no other copy of Liferea running," i should "delete the '~/.liferea/lock' lock file." This message is confusing for normal users (they don't know what the tilde means, and they won't find the directory on a default Nautilus configuration) and is annoying for power users, who have to manually delete the file. The best thing to do is to create a new kind of lock file that checks if the program is really running, but this needs more work and can also lead to other problems. So, what I propose is a new kind of dialog. Instead of an error dialog, it should be a question dialog, with a text like the following: "Possibly there's another copy of Liferea running. Please check if there is and use it instead. If you are sure that there are no other copies of Liferea running, click on the Continue button to ignore this warning, or click on the Exit button to close this copy and use the other one." (other messages can -- and should -- be used instead of the above, but *please* don't put a "Delete" button to scare the users) I know the message above is a bit confusing, but at least the user will not have to try to find the lock file in the non-existent tilde directory. Bug#336189: udev: Confirming this behavior here
2005/11/8, Marco d'Itri <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > This is not a solution, you just changed a bit the problem. > We still have some processes which are supposed to exit after an unknown > time, but maybe will not. Yes, I know some may still be wandering. But, on the computers I tested, I saw two things: 1) What causes more problems on the begging of the system startup are missing /dev/hd?. 2) They tended to be the last being created. Maybe this code could also be used as a fallback. E.g., using the timeout that was used before (8 secs, IIRC) and then, after this first timeout, checking for the devices for at most more 22 secs. Do you think this could improve anything? > How do other distributions solve this? They do not care (and do not need > to, since they make udev mandatory and do not need to install it on an > already working system). I didn't understand what you mean. Bug#336189: udev: Confirming this behavior here
Package: udev Version: 0.071-1 Followup-For: Bug #336189 Hello, I can confirm that this happens here, too. However, it happens in only one of my two machines running Debian Sid. On my Athlon XP 2600+, I never had any problems. However, on my Celeron 266, I had to use a timeout of at least 35 seconds. Being said that, I think this problem is directly related to the speed of the machine (CPU/MB/HD...). I wanted to know why a timeout is used, not some kind of real verification. IMHO, using timeout for this looks like some kind of hack, and that doesn't sounds any good. Hope that helps at least a little bit, Felipe. PS: I was using reportbug on the Athlon XP, not the Celeron. If you need the Celeron's version of the information shown here, please tell me so. -- Package-specific info: -- /etc/udev/rules.d/: /etc/udev/rules.d/: total 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2005-04-16 08:10 020_permissions.rules -> ../permissions.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2005-10-13 20:37 025_libgphoto2.rules -> ../libgphoto2.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 2005-10-17 13:14 025_logitechmouse.rules -> ../logitechmouse.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 2005-09-08 16:08 050_hal-plugdev.rules -> ../hal.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2005-01-18 23:47 cd-aliases.rules -> ../cd-aliases.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 2005-01-18 23:47 udev.rules -> ../udev.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2005-08-14 22:04 z20_persistent.rules -> ../persistent.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 2005-07-03 22:21 z50_run.rules -> ../run.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 2005-10-15 08:05 z55_hotplug.rules -> ../hotplug.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2005-08-02 18:47 z60_alsa-utils.rules -> ../alsa-utils.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 2005-09-23 20:32 z60_hdparm.rules -> ../hdparm.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2005-07-03 22:21 z70_hotplugd.rules -> ../hotplugd.rules -- /sys/: /sys/block/fd0/dev /sys/block/hda/dev /sys/block/hda/hda1/dev /sys/block/hda/hda2/dev /sys/block/hda/hda3/dev /sys/block/hda/hda4/dev /sys/block/hda/hda5/dev /sys/block/hdc/dev /sys/class/graphics/fb0/dev /sys/class/i2c-dev/i2c-0/dev /sys/class/i2c-dev/i2c-1/dev /sys/class/input/mice/dev /sys/class/input/mouse0/dev /sys/class/misc/device-mapper/dev /sys/class/misc/hpet/dev /sys/class/misc/psaux/dev /sys/class/misc/rtc/dev /sys/class/sound/adsp1/dev /sys/class/sound/adsp/dev /sys/class/sound/audio1/dev /sys/class/sound/audio/dev /sys/class/sound/controlC0/dev /sys/class/sound/controlC1/dev /sys/class/sound/dsp1/dev /sys/class/sound/dsp/dev /sys/class/sound/mixer1/dev /sys/class/sound/mixer/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D0c/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D0p/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D1p/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D2c/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D2p/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC1D0c/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC1D0p/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC1D1c/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC1D2p/dev /sys/class/sound/seq/dev /sys/class/sound/sequencer2/dev /sys/class/sound/sequencer/dev /sys/class/sound/timer/dev /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev1.1/dev /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev2.1/dev /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev2.2/dev /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev3.1/dev /sys/class/usb/lp0/dev -- Kernel configuration: isapnp_init not present. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers experimental APT policy: (901, 'experimental'), (900, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.14-ck1 Locale: LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to pt_BR.UTF-8) Versions of packages udev depends on: ii initscripts 2.86.ds1-4kanotix1 Standard scripts needed for bootin ii libc6 2.3.5-7GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libselinux1 1.26-1 SELinux shared libraries ii libsepol1 1.8-1 Security Enhanced Linux policy lib ii lsb-base 3.0-11 Linux Standard Base 3.0 init scrip ii makedev 3.3.8.2-0 Creates device files in /dev ii sed 4.1.4-4The GNU sed stream editor udev recommends no packages. -- debconf information: * udev/devfs-warning: * udev/reboot-warning: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#331247: update-menus is segfaulting (see full message)
Package: menu Version: 2.1.25 Severity: important Hello, update-menus searches for menu entries on various directories. However, when run by a normal user (e.g. not root), all of the directories seen must either non-existent or readable (e.g. not "chmod a-r $dir"). When a directory exists *and* is not readable it segfaults. For example: 1) If I don't have the directory ~/.menu, it goes thru the rest of the process successfully. 2) If I have it empty, it also succeds. 3) If I have it with any number of entries, all fine. 4) If I have but with no read permission (---, --x, -w- or -wx), it segfaults: $ LC_ALL=C update-menus -v update-menus[15506]: Update-menus is run by user. update-menus[15506]: Dpkg is not locking dpkg status area, good. update-menus[15506]: Reading installed packages list... update-menus[15506]: Reading menu-entry files in /home/felipe/.menu/. Segmentation fault I've tried to remove read permissions on all the directories it looks, and it segfaulted in all of them. Note that this problem doesn't happen when it's runned by root. Well, that's it, please contact me if you can't reproduce the problem, Felipe. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers experimental APT policy: (901, 'experimental'), (900, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.13-ck6 Locale: LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to pt_BR.UTF-8) Versions of packages menu depends on: ii dpkg 1.13.11.0.1 package maintenance system for Deb ii libc62.3.5-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:4.0.2-1 GCC support library ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.6-10 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 menu recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#323144: initng: Link to package's homepage is wrong
Package: initng Severity: minor Tags: experimental The package's description contains a reference to the upstream homepage, however it was mispelled. Bug#308852: Solving the problem
Forgot to mention: Apparently "/etc/cherokee/sites-enabled/default" should be a symlink pointing to "../sites-available/default".
Bug#308852: cherokee: default config files are broken
Package: cherokee Version: 0.4.21b01-1 Severity: important -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 The default site configured in the server is configured in the file /etc/cherokee/sites-enabled/default, but this default file is a symlink pointing to /home/gwolf/paquetes/mios/cherokee/cherokee-0.4.21b01/debian/tmp/etc/cherokee/sites-available/default, which obviously is not the correct file. Apparently it's pointing to the mantainer's home directory. How to reproduce it? Install the package in a system that don't have the user "gwolf" and try to use it with its default configuration. - -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers experimental APT policy: (901, 'experimental'), (900, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-ck7 Locale: LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to pt_BR.UTF-8) Versions of packages cherokee depends on: ii libcherokee-base00.4.21b01-1 extremely fast and flexible web se ii libcherokee-server0 0.4.21b01-1 extremely fast and flexible web se ii logrotate3.7-2 Log rotation utility - -- no debconf information -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFCg5SPi0Nglw/N4EoRAnB5AJ4mgFg5JJy66faNB29IrNVOlKxh1QCgjxJf iZA8/2GZbmmDbrpkxaJkR/Y= =fDmc -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
