Bug#550962: kbd-chooser: please let Bépo keyboard layout available when choosing kbd layout
Package: kbd-chooser Version: 1.48 Severity: normal Quite a lot of people in France now uses the 'dvorak like' Bépo keyboard layout (as described in www.bepo.fr) and can have their keyboard using this particular layout, either with sticks, either through the TypeMatrix ergonomic keyboard. It would be helpful to be able to select the Bépo layout as early as possible, because it's very different from any other layout, and so it's very difficult to type when using the default french layout (azerty), and is error prone when typing the root password on a wrong layout ! I faced this problem when testing the Squeeze' daily debian-installer, but I also uses debian-installer system (from Lenny) in rescue-mode, and i face the same problem in this case. The Bépo layout is already defined in console-data and available in Xorg (and so in console-setup), but I didn't found how to patch kbd-chooser to let propose it … As a side note, the french translation of Bépo layout's description in console-setup is incorrect, and have been fixed in xkeyboard-config's 1.7 release, not yet packaged. with regards, Frédéric Boiteux. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers lenny APT policy: (990, 'lenny'), (990, 'stable'), (800, 'unstable'), (800, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-proxy64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#500677: live-helper: update lh_binary_rootfs to better support wildcards in file exclusion
Package: live-helper Version: 1.0.1-1 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch I'm interested in file exclusion mecanism when building Debian Live filesystem from chroot. I've looked at 1.0.0-2 live-helper version about using "-wildcards" to mksquashfs to achieve this, but it is used only when LH_CHROOT_BUILD=disabled. I use the default value of this parameter, "enabled" (I don't understand what it stands for), and I see in config : # ${LH_CHROOT_BUILD: control if we build binary images chrooted # (Default: enabled) # DO NEVER, *NEVER*, *N*E*V*E*R* SET THIS OPTION to disabled. LH_CHROOT_BUILD="enabled" So I didn't change it. Bug#483535: aufs-source: aufs-modules generated with make-kpkg contains spurious files
Package: aufs-source Version: 0+20080514-2.1calistelEtch1 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hello, I've tried to compile aufs module from aufs-source package with make-kpkg from kernel-package v. 11.001-0.1 on an Etch computer in the same time I compiled a 2.6.25 linux kernel with custom patches. The compilation works, but generated package (aufs-modules-...) contains files from kernel (/lib/modules//modules.*, like modules.seriomap) which prevent this package to be installed along its linux-image-* package. I've looked at the aufs's debian/rules Makefile, and found that the installation command should be responsible of that. Bug#426000: libc6: an interrupted msgrcv() call seems to corrupt sscanf behaviour
Package: libc6 Version: 2.3.6.ds1-13 Severity: normal Hello, I've found a behaviour difference in a C program, running correctly on Woody and don't in Sarge or Etch systems. The problem is in a "%n" converter sometimes not honoured as it should be, this only after an interrupted IPC message receive. I've built a testcase (see end of report) to let others reproduce it. Running the original faulty program with electric-fence library produced a core with a memory fault in sscanf(), but I didn't reproduce it with the testcase. I don't have a Sid computer to test it, but I'll try to build a chroot to do this. Here is the C program testcase.c : /* Test case for a possible glibc bug. Frédéric Boiteux <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Scan two times the same string for each word with a sscanf(). Between them, wait for an IPC message using msgrcv() ; someone should interrupt this message receive using SIGALRM signal, like with command : killall -ALRM testcase The second scan fails, the '%n' converter isn't honoured ! Bug#415400: discover1: modules described in configuration should have '-' replaced by '_'
Package: discover1 Version: 1.7.19 Severity: normal Hello, As I have a conflict with USB2 on my computer (see #376652), I have to forbid the ehci-hcd module loading. At first, I had a rule in udev configuration to avoid it, but it was always loaded. I found that discover1 was loading it as udev didn't do it anymore, so I added a rule in /etc/discover.conf : skip ehci-hcd But, when rebooting, I've noticed that discover reloaded it anyway. I've done some debug inside the /etc/init.d/discover script to find that module names given in configuration has to be written with underscores ('_') instead of dashes ('-') ! Even examples given in configuration don't work : # Don't load the i810-tco and i8xx-tco module by default: skip i810-tco skip i8xx-tco To work, it should be written : # Don't load the i810-tco and i8xx-tco module by default: skip i810_tco skip i8xx_tco and my specific rule : skip ehci_hcd The script part responsible of this behaviour in /etc/init.d/discover is : MODULES=$(discover $DISCOVER_ARGS --module $TYPES | discover_uniq) # Get rid of ide-scsi for kernels that don't need it. This is a horrible # hack, # but since we're retiring this version anyway I don't care case "$KVERS" in 2.[0-4].*) true;; *) MODULES=$(echo $MODULES | sed -e 's/ide-scsi //' -e 's/-/_/g');; esac The second rule of the 'sed' command change module names... Don't know why... But this should be noted in the discover.conf man page and perhaps even as a note in /etc/discover.conf. Bug#406300: release-notes: Etch's libcairo2 library don't work on a 8 bits depth X server
Package: release-notes Severity: important I've just upgraded a machine from Sarge to Etch, and since I can't anymore use my X terminal which has 8 bits depth only, because the cairo library (libcairo2) don't handle it : Error: Cairo does not yet support the requested image format: Depth: 8 Alpha mask: 0x Red mask: 0x0007 Green mask: 0x0038 Blue mask: 0x00c0 Please file an enhacement request (quoting the above) at: ... Bug#366802: smartmontools: CCISS disks should be available through env. variables in smartd's scripts
Package: smartmontools Version: 5.36-6 Severity: wishlist Hello, I'm trying to use new Smartmontools 5.36 with CCISS patch to monitor a pair of SCSI disks in a RAID1 smartarray. I've tried smartctl command which seems to work : # smartctl -a -d cciss,0 /dev/cciss/c0d0 or # smartctl -a -d cciss,1 /dev/cciss/c0d0 Then, I've tried to run smartd daemon to monitor them and periodically run short / long test on them, with this kind of line in smartd.conf : ... /dev/cciss/c0d0 -d cciss,0 -a -o on -S on -s (S/../.././02|L/../../6/03) \ -m \ -M test \ -M exec /etc/smartmontools/smartd-runner /dev/cciss/c0d0 -d cciss,1 -a -o on -S on -s (S/../.././04|L/../../6/05) \ -m \ -M test \ -M exec /etc/smartmontools/smartd-runner ... But it doesn't work as expected : * first, in my scripts called by /etc/smartmontools/smartd-runner, I want to run smartctl to add the full SMART log to the e-mail sent in case of failure. I do this with following code : ... smartctl -a -l selftest -l error -d "$SMARTD_DEVICETYPE" "$SMARTD_DEVICE" ... but it fails as these environment variables aren't correctly set : I got : smartctl -a -l selftest -l error -d scsi '/dev/cciss/c0d0 [cciss_disk_01]' * second, I've noticed that scheduled short tests (at 2h and 4h A.M.) are all done on the second disk ! * third, as a side effect, an other array supervisor, cpqarrayd (which only monitor messages from the array), tells me exactly one hour after the first short test (at 3h A.M.) : 03:25:17 cpqarrayd: CCISS controler /dev/cciss/c0d0 logical volume 0 changed state to Logical drive is ready for recovery operation. 03:25:17 cpqarrayd: CCISS controler /dev/cciss/c0d0 logical volume 0 changed state to Logical drive is is currently recovering. 03:25:17 cpqarrayd: CCISS controler /dev/cciss/c0d0 logical volume 0 changed state to Logical drive is ok. with regards, Frédéric Boiteux. -- Package-specific info: Ouput of /usr/share/bug/smartmontools: # CONFIG_IDE_TASK_IOCTL is not set -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.27-dev Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) -- no debconf information
