Hi,

I don't know how to switch to Alsa, by default the Debian testing
uses OSS for my sound card (Nforce2). When I've installed it I've
never choose between OSS or Alsa, it uses automatically OSS...

I don't think. I've a kernel 2.6.15 (Debian kernel form testing) with
OSS:

# lsmod | grep oss
snd_pcm_oss46112 1
snd_mixer_oss 16576 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm77704 3
snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss snd48740
8
snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer
#

#lsmod | grep alsa

The base it's a testing but as gimp-print has been removed from
testing I've have installed gutenprint from unstable. Have you
another solution?

I used hplip 0.9.4-4 from unstable too. But I have recompiled it from
source package.

Perhaps can I try to recompile gutenprint in my testing environment?

Ok I have recompiled gutenprint and now it's impossible to install
it. But I don't know why. When I select the packages in Synaptic
there is no problem but when it starts the installation there is a
warning message and the installation abort. The problem is that the

Ok it seems good with C locale. In french locale the decimal point is a comma
and in the ppd file there is a dot. Is that the problem?

You are right it's gimp-print (/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/print).

Set a new printer in gimp-print and select a compressed ppd file (for example:
/usr/share/ppd/gutenprint/5.0/en/stp-bjc-2010.5.0.ppd.gz). When you validate
the printer, gimp-print crashes.

I've found the bug. It's the ppd file which is bad.
The line 253 of the file /usr/share/ppd/hplip/HP-DeskJet_5652-hpijs.ppd
(*ImageableArea A4/A4: "9.72 36 585.28 833") contains values with decimal point.
So this bug can be reassign to hplip-ppds package.

I've recompile the 4.3.99+cvs20060521-1 version on my testing but there is a
problem during the installation. It stays freeze on this line:

Writing /usr/share/cups/model/gutenprint/5.0/en/stp-xerox-dc_400.5.0.ppd.gz...

I've thought to a space problem on the disk but no there is enough space on it.
I don't know what I can do, kill Synaptic?

Ok. Perhaps it may help you: I've made my test on testing with recompiled
packages 0.9.10-1.

Sorry, but this not solve my problem...
Actually, I've linux-image-2.6.15-1-k7 which is installed, I've download
wacom-kernel-source, I've created a wacom-kernel-module package and when I try
to install it there is a conflict with the linux-image package. So, how can I
install the wacom-kernel-module package?
Do I need to install xserver-xorg-input-wacom too?
