Bug#568766: Selection of 3D objects does not work
Package: blender Severity: normal Hi, With the current X and radeon/ati drivers the selection problem doesn't exist anymore. I used an older NVIDIA card with the proprietry drivers for a while without problems. I just re-installed my radeon card and the problem as described earlier is gone, both in blender in unstable and experimental. There are still some serious performance issues. GLSL doesn't work and especially blender 2.5 from experimental is so slow that it is practically unusable. With the proprietry AMD drivers that can now be installed again everything works fine though. So for the time being that is what i'll use. Bug#572140: it's been more than month, is this still a problem?
Hello Andres Cimmarusti, On Tuesday 13 April 2010 17:04 you wrote: Is this still a problem with the newer radeon driver in sid (also newer kernel and mesa)? Hi, Today I reinstalled the radeon card. I ran the card for about two hours with the latest radeon driver and kernel as you described and I haven't seen the probelm. However my main reason for have a 3D accelerated card in the first place is blender and I this has still some serious issues with the free driver, see also my bugreport http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=568766. I was hoping the performance issues were brought down to an acceptable level but unfortunately, they aren't. Bug#568766: blender: Selection of 3D objects does not work
Hello Cyril, On Wednesday 17 February 2010 13:42 you wrote: I guess that you want to report a bug against your driver then (IIRC X11-related packages have some bug scripts to collect interesting data, that's why I'm not reassigning this bugreport right away). I found a very similar bugreport on the freedesktop bugzilla and added my own information, see http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24857. Does it still make sense to create a bugreport against the debian xserver-xorg-video- radeon and/or libdrm-radeon1 packages? I'm not sure about the proper course of action here. Lagging behind is probably not a good idea anyway. And waiting for X stuff to improve is basically what we've been doing for years; given I don't have much hardware to test or run benchmarks, it's also difficult to draw the line and decide when something's usable enough. :( Well, the current blender 2.5 is an alpha-0 version after all. It is quite usable, but at the same time it is far from stable and has missing stuff when compared to 2.49b. So also from that perspective I don't think it is ready enough. As I understand there will be another alpha in the coming weeks and then after some time a proper release ( http://www.blendernation.com/blender- developer-meeting-minutes-february-14-2010 ). The first 'proper' blender with the new codebase is supposed to be finished by the middle of this year. Maybe it is a good idea to wait for the first beta before moving to unstable and hope that the X situation has improved by then... Bug#494007: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686: In my case adding pci=nomsi makes the system bootable, but ...
Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686 Version: 2.6.26-11 Followup-For: Bug #494007 I had exactly the same behaviour when upgrading to 2.6.26. For example, an entry is inserted almost everytime a debconf dialog is opened. And if I run less somefile in a console, and then scroll beyond the last line I get this message most every 'beep'. During my struggles to get the system bootable again I noticed that the current (lenny) installer apparently has similar problems. Bug#391758: plone-cms: No upgrade path for 2.1 to 2.5
Package: plone-cms Version: cmfplone Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss After upgrading to plone-2.5 all my 2.1 instaces are gone. The upgrade causes zope 2.9 to be installed, and updates plone packages in zope2.8 instances. This leaves a non-functional system. Bug#361666: zope-atcontenttypes: zope atcontenttypes should copy atcontenttypes.conf.in to /etc/zope../instance
Package: zope-atcontenttypes Version: 1.0.3-1 Severity: wishlist To change defaults for AT contenttypes one has to copy ATCT/etc/atcontenttypes.conf.in to INSTANCE_HOME/etc/atcontenttypes.conf and edit the file. In the Debian case this can also be /etc/zopeX.X/instance Because of the way debian installs instances it is not obvious where to find this file. The original file is actually in /usr/share/zope/Products/ATContentTypes/etc/atcontenttypes.conf.in It would be handy if zope-atcontenttypes would copy this file to /etc/zopeX.X/instance when running dzhandle. Or else at least a mention of the file in a README.Debian is in order.
