Bug#987566: ghostscript: PDF Interpreter error on armel

Hi,

I did some more investigations.

As suggested, I tried many different older versions, in the hope to
locate the regression.
Here is my testing-protocol:

- create a chroot with debootstrap with Debian buster
- run the command inside the chroot from outside (to avoid copying
file into chroot... but I think it is exactly the same)

chroot /srv/chroot/stable/ gs -dPDFDEBUG -dPARANOIDSAFER -dNOPAUSE
-dNOINTERPOLATE -dNOMEDIAATTRS -dShowAcroForm -sstdout=%stderr
-sOutputFile=%stdout -sDEVICE=txtwrite -sMediaType=Automatic
-sOutputType=0 -r600x600 -dMediaPosition=7 -dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=595
-dDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS=841 -dcupsMediaType=-1 -dcupsBitsPerColor=8
-dcupsColorOrder=0 -dcupsColorSpace=17 -dcupsInteger0=26
-scupsPageSizeName=A4 -I/usr/share/cups/fonts -c
'<>setpagedevice' -f -_ < hp-setup-test-page.cups-pdf >/dev/null

Here are my results:

- 9.26a~dfsg-0+deb9u7 (stretch) : OK
- 9.26a~dfsg-1 : KO
- 9.26a~dfsg-2 : KO
- 9.27~dfsg-1 : KO
- 9.27~dfsg-2+deb10u4 (buster) : KO

So I think the regression is in the step between 9.26a~dfsg-0+deb9u7
and 9.26a~dfsg-1.

Please, note that tag 9.26a~dfsg-0+deb9u7 seems missing in
https://salsa.debian.org/printing-team/ghostscript/-/tags?utf8=%E2%9C%93=9.26a

Bug#987566: PDF Interpreter errors

2021-04-25 Thread Guilhem Bonnefille
Dear maintainers,

Please, note that this bug only concerns the armel architecture. I was
able to double check on i686 with the same package version and it
worked.

I'm also able to indicate that this bugs is solved/fixed in
9.53.3~dfsg-7 (testing).

Regards.

Bug#987566: ghostscript: PDF Interpreter error on armel

2021-04-25 Thread Guilhem Bonnefille
Package: ghostscript
Version: 9.27~dfsg-2+deb10u4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

Initialy, I found the bug by updating from Debian stretch to buster (10.9): the
printer was working on stretch but no more on buster. The device was running on
armel. I did tests on i686 and it works.

After investigation, I was able to identify the « smallest » error context. The
following command:

gs -dPDFDEBUG -dPARANOIDSAFER -dNOPAUSE -dNOINTERPOLATE -dNOMEDIAATTRS
-dShowAcroForm -sstdout=%stderr -sOutputFile=%stdout -sDEVICE=jpeg
-sMediaType=Automatic -sOutputType=0 -r600x600 -dMediaPosition=7
-dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=595 -dDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS=841 -dcupsMediaType=-1
-dcupsBitsPerColor=8 -dcupsColorOrder=0 -dcupsColorSpace=17 -dcupsInteger0=26
-scupsPageSizeName=A4 -I/usr/share/cups/fonts -c '<>setpagedevice' -f -_ <
/tmp/ades.cups-pdf >/dev/null

Produces error messages on armel but not on i686:

8.3 0 0 8.3 0 0 cm
BT
Error reading a content stream. The page may be incomplete.
   Output may be incorrect.
Error: Form stream has unbalanced q/Q operators (too many q's)
   Output may be incorrect.
Q
Q
Error: File did not complete the page properly and may be damaged.
   Output may be incorrect.
%Resolving: [1 0]

The input is obtained from hp-setup print test page (PS) converted to cups-pdf
with cupsfilter, which certainly means that gs is not able to read a PDF it
generates.

Hi,

I'm a bit surprised as the viking package strictly follows the
recommandations:
https://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/menu-policy/ch2.html#s2.1

Is it still open?
Is it a bug related to XFCE?

Hi Robert,

I think something went wrong when you sent your email, because I don't
see the attached GDB output.

And I don't understand: is the bug still there? Or it disapeared after
a libnettle upgrade?

I can't reproduce this crash. Please install debugging symbols for at
least GLib and folks (packages: libglib2.0-0-dbg, libfolks-eds-dbg,
libfolks-dbg) and try to get a backtrace again. Using the gdb command
thread apply all bt full instead of where might also provide useful
 information.

I don't know how to use the -dbg version of the libs. Something to change
in the environment?

You can probably see this crash without Empathy by installing
folks-tools and running folks-inspect. If it doesn't crash immediately,
wait a few seconds; if it still hasn't crashed, type individuals at
the prompt and see whether that crashes. If folks-inspect crashes, then
it's confirmed to be a Folks bug.

I confirm: folks-inspect crashes immediately.

Upgrading libfolks25, libfolks-eds25 and related packages to the version
from unstable (0.9.6-3) might also be useful.

Such change is quite sensible: synaptic proposes to remove gnome.

If you run empathy from a command-line (gnome-terminal or similar), do
you get any warnings before it crashes?

No

Do you know any reason why broadcom-sta-source is shipped as binary

If there is any reason, I can upload my i386 package.

I'd try to look at network-manager but not much more idea.

NetworkManager seems OK as empathy, the chat client, is OK and feel connected.

Bug#575034: viking: Example config files are missing

2010-03-22 Thread Guilhem BONNEFILLE
Package: viking
Version: 0.9.91-1
Severity: minor

Since 0.9.91, viking has example for configuration files. These files are
located in doc/examples. But these files are not packaged yet.

I tried to solve this by adding doc/examples/ to debian/viking.docs. The
matter is this adds Makefile.am (co) to package.
So I tried to solve this by adding doc/examples/*.xml to debian/viking.docs.
The matter is this adds files directly to /usr/.../doc/viking, erasing
examples/ level.

Any suggestion?

Bug#519014: Work in progress

2009-04-13 Thread Guilhem Bonnefille
No matter: the package available in Debian's mentors system is made by
Andrea. Andrea seems to not have many time for giggle actually. So I
decided to advertise as much as possible. In this process, I described
the way to use the current package made by Andrea (waiting for a
sponsor).

I hope this is correct/acceptable, even if I'm not (officialy)
identified as Debian Maintainer.

2009/4/13 Adeodato Simó adeod...@debian.org:
Hello, Guilhem. Thanks for your interest on providing updated giggle
packages! Unfortunately, you don’t seem to seem to be the current
maintainer of giggle in Debian, and you don’t mention whether you’ve
contacted him or have his approval about this update.

I’m CC'ing him now, Andrea Corradi. I’d love to see an updated giggle
package in Debian, and could help with sponsoring, at least for this
 time.

Andrea, were you aware of these changes in giggle development (move to
gnome.org, new upstream maintainer, etc.), and were planning on preparing
and update yourself? Do you think you’ll be able to do that on the near
future, and/or what do you think of getting Guilhem to help with the
 package maintenance?

Thanks both for your work in Debian!

 --- Guilhem Bonnefille (Sun, 05 Apr 2009 12:55:50 +0200):

giggle 0.4.91-1 is available on mentors.debian.net

Would be better to store it in the Programming menu.

For example, giggle (another Git browser for Gnome) uses the following entry in
its .desktop file:

Bug#519014: Giggle moved to GitHub and Gnome

Unfortunatelly, the last release does not compile on Debian (at least

Version: 1.0.7
Severity: normal

Not sure that it is the correct package to report this bug to. If you know a
better
package to report to, please give me the inf, I will report on it.

I run a Debian on EeePc 701. This PC nicely suspend (to ram) and resume, but
wifi is not
usable. I have to unload/reload madwifi driver.

In order to do that, I simply add the file /etc/pm/config.d/eeepc701 with
SUSPEND_MODULES=$SUSPEND_MODULES ath_pci

Perhaps such file can be installed automatically by eeepc-acpi-scripts package.

Bug#487584: gnomebaker: Unable to import session without cdrecord

2008-06-22 Thread Guilhem BONNEFILLE
Package: gnomebaker
Version: 0.6.2-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I tried to continue a session with gnomebaker but it fails.
Its message explains that it is an unexpected error.

On the console, I found cdrecord: no such command (or something like
that).

But, I selected the wodim backend. I suspect wodim backend does not
cover the -msinfo related command.

Bug#478953: [Viking-devel] [Fwd: [Viking-debian] Bug#478953: viking: GPS on ttyUSB3 is not accessable]

2008-05-02 Thread Guilhem Bonnefille
Hi,

unfortunatly is not possible to enter a user defined device for a GPS
connection. In my case I can't access my GPS because its is device is
/dev/ttyUSB3 and the hardcoded list stops at /dev/ttyUSB2 :(.

I'm not sure (as I not yet use Viking directly with my GPS), but the
widget used to select the device allows manual edit (it's a
combo-box). So, I think you are able to enter /dev/ttyUSB3.

Am I correct?

No, its a hardcoded dropdown box. If its editable I don't know how :).
Clicking on it just drops down the box and allows me to select one of the
  hardcorded values.

Looking around it I finnally found that this directory is a really old

anything went fine.

Probably an eroneous upgrade procedure of hicolor-icon-theme package

You didn't happen to save those files? If you didn't, do you know what
 icons were in there?

Not really - I checked wether or not any installed .deb had files in
there (which was not the case) and had a look
in /usr/share/pixmaps/hicolor/ what contained the following:

 16x16/
 48x48/
 icon-theme.cache
 32x32/
 autopackage-installer.png
 scalable/

I'm sorry I didn't saved the files in there, but since they didn't
belong to any installed package and I don't have non-debian-packages
installed on my system anymore, I thought they were just crap still
existing due to experiments in former days/whatever.

I had the same problem. File are quite old (2006) for me. I imagine it
was a previous installation of the hicolor-icon-theme package.
Probably a erroneous upgrade procedure after a directory switch.

My 2 cents

2006-12-22 Thread Guilhem BONNEFILLE
Package: kqemu-modules-2.6-k7
Version: 2:2.6.18-2
Severity: normal

I installed the kqemu-modules. After a reboot, nothing occurs: qemu
complaints about missing /dev/kqemu.
So I manually installed the module (modprobe kqemu). Nothing better.
After a quick look on the internet, I found that we have to insert
options kqemu major=0 in /etc/modprobe.d/kqemu. A new modprobe kqemu
and the /dev/kqemu is now created.

Perhaps could it be usefull to:
- add the /etc/modprobe.d/kqemu file in the package;
- or add a README.Debian indicating that the user have to create the
file.

Best regards.

2006-10-17 Thread Guilhem BONNEFILLE
Package: pan
Version: 0.116-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I'm running pan for the first time. So, I tried to retrieve group list

I set 2 or 3 servers and then I launch the refresh group list task.
This task collect more and more group info (I wait unitl 300,000 on
server hosting 120,000 groups), but never ends. Even when I quit pan,
the group list collect remains empty.

I tried the 0.117 but nothing better.

A patch seems attached to this bug actually. Not tested yet (I will do
