Indeed, I have reacted to the first words of the description :
"PyBindGen is a Python module"

Maybe this could be adapted..

You need to name your package as describe by the Debian Python Policy :

You should also be careful to not include some modules that have been already
package in Debian, but make it dependent on them...

Bug#527042: jackbeat: new upstream release

2009-07-28 Thread Guillaume Pellerin
Julien and other,

As Piem's key is not in the keyring anymore, the upload will thankfully be done
by Romain Beauxis at the end of august.

Before that, we've got to fix 2 lintian warnings :

W: jackbeat source: changelog-should-mention-nmu

W: jackbeat source: source-nmu-has-incorrect-version-number 0.7.2-1

So, Julien, you need to :
- mention your version is an NMU
- switch the version number to 0.7.2-0.1

However, I've uploaded your package to my repository so that people can use it
as is :

deb http://debian.parisson.org binary/

Sorry for the delay and thank you for you patience...

I can confirm since I have already made it. ;)

Well, packaging one application is not enough, it also have to be done
properly :)

Yes, I should have said "begin it"...

I don't mind group maintaining. Since to package this software is not
very very hard, so group maintaining is not very urgent. I just want to
see this software in Debian repository soon. But group maintaining is
somewhat better because when this software has new upstream version, we
only need one of the group member to have free time to update it :)

However, I'm not a DD so I can't help uploading :(
Just ask me to do other job that don't need DD's privilege.

Maybe Romain could be in charge of the upload, Ying-Chun and me would
patch/package ?

Ok, let me speak clearly, and please don't read any agression there, I just
want to adress things directly.

Yomgui, this ITP has been opened for almost two years now, but no upload has
been done so far.
As for what I can read, you have it reviewed by Piem, and claimed it was about
to be uploaded, but still nothing hapened. Did you submit it for review
on -mentors ? Did Piem has any review ? What were his remarks ?

Piem is a very good friend of mine and has helped me to upload Jackbeat :
http://packages.debian.org/testing/sound/jackbeat

I think he just doesn't have so much time to work on ezstream but his review
about the program was good. He said also that some things had to be fixed in the
package.

I've got your package from the links provided, and it seems that it has not
been changed since 2005 (I'll come back on details on this later in this
mail).

Now comes another interested packager, asking you to either finish it or let
him do the work, to which you replied last february that it was about to be
uploaded, and still nothing.

Yes, I would have like to find a DD like you to help to upload.

Of course no one wants to steal your efforts, but clearly there must be some
explanations there. Of course also, it's possible that you were waiting for
another reviewer/uploader, but that seems long since February...

Sorry but, althought I'm fond of Debian and its philosophy, I think low level
(co-)maintainers should be involved deeper in the structure so they could have
several contacts inside and some tutorials to make things better and faster.
Don't misunderstand me, I just want to point out that it is difficult to speed
up people like me since we don't have much information about possible issues.

However, Alioth seems a good plateform to accomplish that sort of task and I'm
very pleased to get involved in it !

Now, I came to the same issue.
I've experienced a similar pattern when mediawiki was about to be packaged and
many claimed they were willing to contribute. Our solution was to open a
team.

So I was proposing you this in order to please everyone: of course, we won't
steal your work, but also we all acknowledge that we want to work on this
package with the will that it'll be more quickly ready when working as a
team.

Let's steal all my work, since it is open sourced and welcome !! ;)

Now, some review on the package.
First of all, having a package that builds and installs is not enough to say
the work is done. As for I've seen from your package, it's mostly the dh_make
templates, with non needed files removed. So, I can remark the following:

* debian/rules: please remove non needed code that helps making it readable

* debian/dirs contains /usr/sbin, is a binary installed there ?

* debian/copyright: authors is not only oddsock, I can find files with the
FSF.. Furthermore, those files seems to be redundant (getopt.c), you may
look wether you can user external libraries for that.
  You must also include some sort of header for the license and check file by
file (it's not a lot in this case)

* debian/control: update standard-version (as requested previously)

* debian/changelog: multiple * entries
 Also, you should close the ITP there.

Furthermore, the packaging is distributed with a eztream_0.2.0-1.tar.gz, this
is wrong, you should seperate upstream's tarball from debian's modifications,
with a .orig.tar.gz and a diff.gz.

Thoses were the most obvious remarks I could find for now (didn't build it),
but they must be addressed before any upload can happen..

Of course !
Thanks a lot for these remarks ! I shall try to fix these problems ASAP...

To conclude, I would like to ask you again wether you'd accept to maintain it
with a team.

YES ! :D

Please answer clearly to that question, it's the moment to raise your feelings
about this packaging...

This package should have been uploaded for a long time, like oddcastv3-jack
(http://debian.parisson.org/oddcastv3-jack_3.1.6-1_i386.deb) also written by
Oddsock and work

No, there's no roles formaly defined, but we can agree on what to do for each

  Version : 0.21
  Upstream Author : Andrew Gaydenko <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://gaydenko.com/qloud/
* License : GPL (v2)
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : tool to measure loudspeaker frequency responses and
distortions

 After audio system response capturing is done over JACK with the
 Farina's (sweep) method, IR (Impulse Response) is calculated.
 Currently these IR-aware analysis outcomes are available:

 - plotting of SPL (Sound Pressure Level) versus frequency (db/Hz scale),
 - plotting of IR-power versus time (db/sec),
 - plotting of Step Response versus time (amp/sec),
 - plotting of harmonic levels versus frequency (db/Hz scale).

 IR-power plot is useful to see a room reflections behaviour.
 Step Response plot is useful for speakers time alignment in multiway
 loudspeakers. All plots support zooming with history and panning.

Even if it is be a broken concept IYHO, note that it can be useful to insert
videos in presentations in order to compare two ones WITH text around them (I'm
a physician and have many numerical simulations to present with their
parameters), or to setup a zoom scale without playing with mplayer shortcuts
during the show. Moreover, the fact that "Video and Sound" exists in the
"Insert" menu proves that this feature is being implemented in OOo.. Isn't it ?

I would be sad if I had to play with P0werP0int during my incoming thesis
defense ! :(

Cheers,
Guillaume

Bug#356472: ITP: netjack -- realtime audio transport over IP networks with JACK

2006-03-12 Thread Guillaume Pellerin
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Guillaume Pellerin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: netjack
  Version : 0.8
  Upstream Author : Torben Hohn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://netjack.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
  Description : realtime audio transport over IP networks with JACK

 Netjack is a Realtime Audio Transport over a generic IP Network. It is
 fully integrated into JACK.

 When you transport Audio Signals over a Network, you will always have
 the problem, that two Computers are bound to two different Sample
 Clocks. The other Network Transports face the Problem of compensating
 for the drift between these Sample Clocks. This is very hard to do.

 NetJack works around this problem, by syncing all Clients to one
 Soundcard. So there will be no resampling or glitches in the whole
 network. As long as there is no packet loss. Packet loss can not be
 compensated.

not, we could find a sponsor...

I prefer this kind of reason for removing ctorrent than the age of the ITP...
Many ITPs are far older than ctorrent's one !
Indeed, rtorrent is nice and sure it might be better than ctorrent since it's
developement timeline is really hot !... So, I let you do what you have to do.
I just have to say that my package was corresponding to an _old_ RFP a few
months ago... ;)

Cheers,
Yomguy

Bug#298416: ITP: ctorrent -- a shell BitTorrent client

2006-02-10 Thread Guillaume Pellerin
Hi !

It's true that this ITP is old ! But since I'm just a "packager", a
co-maintainer (jackbeat with piem (Paul Brossier)) and not a developer, I have a
few packages like ctorrent that could be included in unstable (lintian tests are
ok) but just can't upload them ! :'(

If any of you could upload ctorrent, and maybe others (see
http://yomix.org/debian/), you're welcome !

The lastest version is : 1.3.4

And I think it is not "replaced" by bittornado since ctorrent is console based
and written in C... and useful ! :)

Let me know your decisions, thanks !

Cheers,
yomguy

Bug#349743: closed

2006-01-24 Thread Guillaume Pellerin
Ok, sorry !
The package just hadn't been upgraded (2.0.0-2 to 2.0.1-2) after an apt-get
upgrade

So, I had to make an
apt-get install openoffice.org-writer
again, to make it work (libwpd8c2 also upgraded to libwpd8c2a)

best,
yomguy

Bug#342859: ITP: fluxus -- Scheme script interpreter that creates graphics live with audio and OSC input data

2005-12-11 Thread Guillaume Pellerin
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Guillaume Pellerin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: fluxus
  Version : 0.8.0
  Upstream Author : Dave Griffiths <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.pawfal.org/Software/fluxus/
* License : GPL
  Description : Scheme script interpreter that creates graphics live with
audio and OSC input data

Fluxus also uses a fully featured physics library, which means you can script
physical properties into objects and simulate them in realtime. Released
for Linux under the GPL licence.

The built in scheme code editor runs on top of the renderer (see
screenshots), which means you can edit the scripts while they are
running. This allows Fluxus to be used for livecoding performances, or
simply as a fast feedback way of experimenting or learning about
graphics and animation.

Fluxus lends itself to procedural modelling and animation. There is an
expermental procedural modelling tool, and full support for texturing
and basic material properties.

Bug#340230: udev: Fails to load Intel i810 sound chip drivers correctly

2005-11-21 Thread Guillaume Pellerin
Package: udev
Version: 0.074-3
Severity: important

After purging hotplug, snd-intel8x0m, snd_atiixp_modem, snd_via82xx_modem
and then snd-intel8x0 were loaded at boot time. On my machine, only
snd-intel8x0
works correctly.

Only an alsaconf can unload the wrong modules, which were blacklisted by
hotplug
before, and then reload the good one.

Bug#337958: Acknowledgement (konqueror: Konqueror can't display files and folders with SFTP, FTP or fish protocol)

2005-11-09 Thread Guillaume Pellerin
Hi !

The fonctionnality seems to be now re-available... But I must admit that I don't
know why... Maybe due to good package upgrades.
Do I have to close this bug ?

Konqueror fails to display data when a connexion is made with FTP, SFTP

Bug#317774: jackbeat: long description misformatted

2005-07-11 Thread Guillaume Pellerin

Alexandre Fayolle wrote:

Package: jackbeat

Hi,

Thanks for maintaining the jackbeat package.

If you want tools such as aptitude to display the long description of
the package correctly, you should indent the bullet lists with two
initial spaces at the beginning of each line.

Hi !
The package is being updated so that the bad # will disappear..
Menu and desktop items will also be included (jackbeat 0.5.2-3)

Thanks for your feedback !
G. Pellerin

Bug#298416: ITP: ctorrent -- a shell BitTorrent client

2005-04-06 Thread Guillaume Pellerin
ctorrent 1.3.4 is now packaged for i386 and available on:
http://yomix.org/debian/
see http://www.yomix.org/blog/?p=29 for more details...
Thanks to fEnIo for the link !!

Source: ctorrent
Section: net
Priority: optional
Maintainer: Guillaume Pellerin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 4.0.0), openssl (>= 0.9.7e-3), libssl-dev
(>= 0.9.7e-3)
Standards-Version: 3.6.1

Package: ctorrent
Architecture: any
Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}
Description: a shell BitTorrent client
CTorrent is built as a console program, which means that it doesn't
require any graphical components (such as an X server) on the machine
you are running it on, you can even run it remotely through a terminal
if you wish. While a lot of people prefer a GUI (Graphical User
Interface) for this kind of applications, there are quite a few people
who run "console only" servers and want to use them to download files in
the background. CTorrent can help you do exactly this, assuming you are
downloading from the BitTorrent network.

Bug#296324: ITP: qoscc -- a highly flexible software oscilloscope with OSS, ALSA and JACK support

2005-02-21 Thread Guillaume Pellerin
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Guillaume Pellerin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: qoscc
  Version : 0.2.0
  Upstream Author : tincan
* URL : http://www.svenqueisser.de/qoscc.html
* License : GPL
  Description : a highly flexible software oscilloscope with OSS, ALSA and
JACK support

QOscC is a highly flexible and configurable software Oscilloscope with a
large number of features. This includes support for any number of audio
devices (ALSA, OSS or JACK), each with any number of channels. Each
scope display can be configured individually to different display types
and variants. e.g. you can chose from standard y-t mode (as on an usual
oscilloscope), xy mode (e.g. for measuring the phase shift between two
signals) of the FFT mode (to view a spectrum plot of the signal).

This software is intended for electronic hobyists, who cannot afford a
hardware oscilloscope or need a simple spectrum analyzer as well as for
musicans for doing basic signal analysis.
