Bug#788066: unattended-upgrades: Security updates not installed since last upgrade of unattended-upgrades package
Package: unattended-upgrades Version: 0.83.3.1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, Initially (6 weeks ago), unattended-upgrades did not install security-updates. I was able to fix by applying fix suggested in 783690. I added origin=Debian,codename=${distro_codename},label=Debian-Security to 50unattended-upgrades. Last week, unattended-upgrades got updated via Debian apt-get. Because I manually changed 50unattended-upgrades (due to 783690), I decided to replace it with stock 50unattended-upgrades during the update (assuming that 783690 would be fixed in the proper way) Since this last upgrade, security updates don't get installed automatically. Somehow, applying the fix suggested in 783690 does't work anymore. I get errors when I run unattended-upgrade --dry-run --debug The unchanged 50unattended-upgrades yields following results sudo unattended-upgrade --dry-run --debug Initial blacklisted packages: Initial whitelisted packages: Starting unattended upgrades script Allowed origins are: ['o=Debian,a=jessie-security'] Checking: libapache2-mod-php5 ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php-pear ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5 ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5-cli ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5-common ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5-gd ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5-intl ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5-ldap ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5-mcrypt ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5-mysql ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5-readline ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: php5-xsl ([Origin component:'main' archive:'stable' origin:'Debian' label:'Debian-Security' site:'security.debian.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: x2goserver ([Origin component:'main' archive:'' origin:'X2Go' label:'X2Go' site:'packages.x2go.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: x2goserver-extensions ([Origin component:'main' archive:'' origin:'X2Go' label:'X2Go' site:'packages.x2go.org' isTrusted:True]) Checking: x2goserver-xsession ([Origin component:'main' archive:'' origin:'X2Go' label:'X2Go' site:'packages.x2go.org' isTrusted:True]) pkgs that look like they should be upgraded: Fetched 0 B in 0s (0 B/s) fetch.run() result: 0 blacklist: [] whitelist: [] InstCount=0 DelCount=0 BrokenCount=0 No packages found that can be upgraded unattended -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages unattended-upgrades depends on: ii apt1.0.9.8 ii apt-utils 1.0.9.8 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.56 ii init-system-helpers1.22 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian13+nmu1 ii lsb-release4.1+Debian13+nmu1 ii python33.4.2-2 ii python3-apt0.9.3.11 ii ucf3.0030 ii xz-utils 5.1.1alpha+20120614-2+b3 unattended-upgrades recommends no packages. Bug#754857: linux-image-3.2.0-4-amd64: Sporadic kernel crashes
Package: src:linux Version: 3.2.60-1+deb7u1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, Intel MB DH87RL, 8GN, i5 System/kernel crashes once in a while. See a tracecall at the end. System runs 24/7. Crash occurs typically once every 1-4 weeks. System is not stressed for long preiods of time CPU temp is monitored, not excessive temperatures I don't have a clue how to trigger the kernel crash. In the past, I have used ZFSonLinux on this system, and crashes happened more frequent. ZFSOnLinux is removed (not tainted anymore). As ZFSOnLinux is (?) more memory intensive, I have run memtester and mamtest86+ for a few hours without success Last thing I have done is to relax memory timings (From default to everything (CAS/RAS etc) a bit more relaxed) It did not make a difference. I have no clue what next step I can take. I originally did built up this system in a VM, before I moved it to real hardware. Any complications because of this? The trace below refer to xhci. I have disabled xhci in the past (unload modules). Kernel crash still happened. Bug#728806: linux-image-3.2.0-4-amd64: btrfs reports checksum error, while md5sum shows same checksum on original and backup
Package: src:linux Version: 3.2.51-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, *** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** I have a dedicated backup internal SATA HDD; (4TB, GPT), filled 70%. Btrfs on DM-Crypt; Backups are created with Dirvish, e.g., many hardlinked files. HDD Converted (yesterday) from ext4 to btrfs. Subsequently run scrub. Scrub reports checksum errors: (multiple, as it is a Dirvish backup) Nov 4 20:40:50 ijntema-svr kernel: [254525.824034] btrfs: checksum error at logical 522774728704 on dev /dev/dm-2, sector 1021044392, root 5, inode 199230932, offset 2135773184, length 4096, links 87 (path: dvd/20131008-0114/tree/dvd-18+/Contact/VTS_01_1.VOB) However, when I run md5sum on the backup HDD VTS_01_1.VOB and on the original HDD VTS_01_1.VOB, the checksum is the same. In other words, backup equals original; hence how can btrfs report a checksum error? Above checksum error appears as many times as Dirvish snapshots exists. Bug#548630: linux-image-2.6.26-2-686: Crash/Hang with heavy disk write when using SATA AHCI mode
Package: linux-image-2.6.26-2-686 Version: 2.6.26-19 Severity: important System was configured in BIOS with IDE mode set to AHCI. - ASUS p5q-vm MB, latest BIOS. - When having heavy disk writing (disk to disk, or via network rsync from machine 1 to target machine), system hangs after several GBytes have been written to disk. - Problem is reproducable. Happens all the time when I want to rsync 50GB from one PC to target. Reproduced atleast 10 times. 100% hitrate with rsync 50GB data. - Problems happens with two different brands of HD's (did not test more) - No logging information logged. Machine is dead - Configured logging to remote machine. Did not result in any usefull logging. - Pinging target not possible after hang. - Keyboard is dead after hang. - GUI hangs after system hang. Problem is resolved by setting in BIOS the IDE mode to IDE instead of AHCI. No hangs since change in BIOS configuration. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.26-2-686 (Debian 2.6.26-19) (da...@debian.org) (gcc version 4.1.3 20080704 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-25)) #1 SMP Wed Aug 19 06:06:52 UTC 2009 ** Command line: root=/dev/sda1 ro quiet ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [2.765782] ata1.01: HPA detected: current 2930277168, native 18446744072344861488 [2.765789] ata1.01: ATA-7: SAMSUNG HD154UI, 1AG01118, max UDMA7 [2.765794] ata1.01: 2930277168 sectors, multi 16: LBA48 NCQ (depth 0/32) [2.773584] ata1.00: configured for UDMA/133 [2.782211] ata1.01: configured for UDMA/133 [3.257023] ata2: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300) [3.265250] ata2.00: HPA detected: current 2930277168, native 18446744072344861488 [3.265256] ata2.00: ATA-7: SAMSUNG HD154UI, 1AG01118, max UDMA7 [3.265260] ata2.00: 2930277168 sectors, multi 16: LBA48 NCQ (depth 0/32) [3.273220] ata2.00: configured for UDMA/133 [3.273342] scsi 0:0:0:0: Direct-Access ATA SSDSA2SH032G1GN 045C PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 [3.273535] scsi 0:0:1:0: Direct-Access ATA SAMSUNG HD154UI 1AG0 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 [3.273629] scsi 1:0:0:0: Direct-Access ATA SAMSUNG HD154UI 1AG0 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 [3.273694] ACPI: PCI Interrupt :00:1f.5[B] - GSI 19 (level, low) - IRQ 19 [3.273698] ata_piix :00:1f.5: MAP [ P0 -- P1 -- ] [3.273732] PCI: Setting latency timer of device :00:1f.5 to 64 [3.274310] scsi2 : ata_piix [3.274310] scsi3 : ata_piix [3.274310] ata3: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0xcc00 ctl 0xc880 bmdma 0xc400 irq 19 [3.274310] ata4: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0xc800 ctl 0xc480 bmdma 0xc408 irq 19 [3.604057] ata3: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) [3.933491] ata4: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) [3.948892] Driver 'sd' needs updating - please use bus_type methods [3.948893] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] 6250 512-byte hardware sectors (32000 MB) [3.948893] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off [3.948893] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 [3.948893] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [3.948893] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] 6250 512-byte hardware sectors (32000 MB) [3.948893] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off [3.948893] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 [3.948893] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [3.948893] sda: sda1 sda2 [3.950456] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk [3.950807] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] 2930277168 512-byte hardware sectors (1500302 MB) [3.950807] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off [3.950807] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 [3.950807] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [3.950807] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] 2930277168 512-byte hardware sectors (1500302 MB) [3.950807] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off [3.950807] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 [3.950807] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [3.950807] sdb: sdb1 [3.959031] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI disk [3.959031] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdc] 2930277168 512-byte hardware sectors (1500302 MB) [3.959031] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdc] Write Protect is off [3.959031] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdc] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 [3.959031] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdc] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [3.959031] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdc] 2930277168 512-byte hardware sectors (1500302 MB) [3.959031] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdc] Write Protect is off [3.959031] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdc] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 [3.959031] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdc] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [3.959031] sdc: sdc1 [3.975103] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI disk [4.165903] kjournald starting.
