Bug#1020561: python3-scipy: Scipy upgrade requires c++ compiler

I can see why pythran would want to use the compiler and scipy want to get the maximum advantage. Still, if it's not necessary, this is a big drawback and especially so if an application was depending on these through some chain. One solution that comes to mind would be having two versions of some part of this chain where one depends on and uses a compiler and the other doesn't. Both would provide the dependency but have different build options. Some conflict or replacement scheme would stop installing both. This would be extra trouble of course.
Bug#1020561: python3-scipy: Scipy upgrade requires c++ compiler
Package: python3-scipy Version: 1.7.3-2 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: x...@iki.fi Dear Maintainer, I was running an regular upgrade and noticed a colossal rise in required space. It seems that python3-scipy requires c++-compiler via python3-pythran. The difference seems to be in order of 600 MB. Any change this could be optional? It makes the package much harder to install and use on any sort of production machine which doesn't normally need mahoosive compiler packages and their assorted headaches and security risks. -- System Information: Debian Release: bookworm/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (490, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.18.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_DK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_DK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_GB:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages python3-scipy depends on: ii libblas3 [libblas.so.3] 3.10.1-2 ii libc6 2.34-8 ii libgcc-s1 12.2.0-2 ii libgfortran512.2.0-2 ii liblapack3 [liblapack.so.3] 3.10.1-2 ii liblbfgsb0 3.0+dfsg.3-11 ii libstdc++6 12.2.0-2 ii python3 3.10.6-1 ii python3-decorator 5.1.1-2 ii python3-numpy [python3-numpy-abi9] 1:1.21.5-1+b1 Versions of packages python3-scipy recommends: pn g++ | c++-compiler ii python3-pil 9.2.0-1+b1 Versions of packages python3-scipy suggests: pn python-scipy-doc -- no debconf information

Bug#905953: geeqie: No image or splash displayed, only a grey box
Package: geeqie Version: 1:1.4-8 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? Updated to 1:1.4-7, presumably from 1:1.4-6. Also tried 1:1.4-8 from SID with same effect. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Started geeqie from gnome3 launcher, as usual. Starting from command line has same results, no extra output. * What was the outcome of this action? Geeqie starts with a grey box instead of the logo in the image area. Most things work, but navigating to images only shows a grey box. E.g. the (i)mage info boxes show correct data, dimensions show, even the show pixel info pipette shows seemingly sensible numbers when hovering over the image area. * What outcome did you expect instead? Seeing an actual image :) I also moved away the .config/geeqie directory. Settings were reset, but viewer behaved the same. This could be a library thing, of course, or something else that has happened in the upgrade or recent reboot. But throwing it in in case someone else comes across this. At the moment, the only image viewer I know with an easy move/newdir function is useless and I can't import and sort my photos. -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.17.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_GB:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages geeqie depends on: ii geeqie-common1:1.4-8 ii libatk1.0-0 2.28.1-1 ii libc62.27-5 ii libcairo-gobject21.15.10-3 ii libcairo21.15.10-3 ii libchamplain-0.12-0 0.12.16-2 ii libchamplain-gtk-0.12-0 0.12.16-2 ii libclutter-1.0-0 1.26.2+dfsg-4 ii libclutter-gtk-1.0-0 1.8.4-3 ii libcogl-pango20 1.22.2-3 ii libcogl-path20 1.22.2-3 ii libcogl201.22.2-3 ii libdrm2 2.4.92-1 ii libegl1 1.0.0+git20180308-3 ii libexiv2-14 0.25-4 ii libgbm1 18.1.5-1 ii libgcc1 1:8.2.0-3 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.36.12-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.56.1-2 ii libgtk-3-0 3.22.30-2 ii libjpeg62-turbo 1:1.5.2-2+b1 ii libjson-glib-1.0-0 1.4.2-4 ii liblcms2-2 2.9-2 ii liblirc-client0 0.10.0-2+b1 ii liblua5.1-0 5.1.5-8.1+b2 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.42.1-2 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.42.1-2 ii libstdc++6 8.2.0-3 ii libtiff5 4.0.9-6 ii libwayland-client0 1.15.0-2 ii libwayland-cursor0 1.15.0-2 ii libwayland-egl1 1.15.0-2 ii libwayland-server0 1.15.0-2 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.5-1 ii libxcomposite1 1:0.4.4-2 ii libxdamage1 1:1.1.4-3 ii libxext6 2:1.3.3-1+b2 ii libxfixes3 1:5.0.3-1 ii libxi6 2:1.7.9-1 ii libxkbcommon00.8.0-2 ii libxrandr2 2:1.5.1-1 ii sensible-utils 0.0.12 Versions of packages geeqie recommends: pn cups-bsd | lpr ii exiftran 2.10-2+b3 ii exiv20.25-4 ii imagemagick 8:6.9.10.8+dfsg-1 ii imagemagick-6.q16 [imagemagick] 8:6.9.10.8+dfsg-1 ii librsvg2-common 2.40.20-2 ii ufraw-batch 0.22-3 ii zenity 3.28.1-1 Versions of packages geeqie suggests: pn geeqie-dbg ii gimp 2.8.22-1 pn libjpeg-progs ii ufraw 0.22-3 pn xpaint -- no debconf information

Bug#816525: kicad: Fails to start, wxPython not found
If I had to guess at the previous version I've run, I think it would have been 4.0.1+dfsg1-1. I removed the directory and the same error pops up. The dialog says "pcbnewInitPythonScripting() failed" that doesn't seem to be logged. Only now the program interestingly seems to continue working as far as I can tell. I tried a new blank project an opening the one that I tried before. I suspect there's still something causing that and this (give or take a few package versions) update didn't exactly work smoothly here, even though removing the config seems to have made it work again. Bug#402385: mailutils: sieve deletes mail after fileinto from mbox but not maildir
Package: mailutils Version: 1:0.6.1-4sarge2 Severity: normal I have a recipe that should move certain mailing list mails from an inbox (offlineimap) to a local mailbox. Trying to move into an mbox blows up IIRC, so I made a maildir. The recipe moves mail happily from a test mbox file (given with -f) into the maildir, but running the same recipe with -f argument pointing to a maildir only copies the mail. Also, the -d flag behaves differently. Notably there's no sight of debug output while -f points to a maildir. I'm afraid my test data is gone now, but here's the script: /* * A sieve script for sorting haskell-cafe stuff away from inbox. */ require ["fileinto"]; if header :is "List-Id" "The Haskell Cafe " {fileinto "mail/haskell-cafe";} -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-3-686 Locale: LANG=en_GB, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages mailutils depends on: ii guile-1.6-libs1.6.7-1Main Guile libraries ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22sarge4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcomerr21.37-2sarge1 common error description library ii libgcrypt11 1.2.0-11.1 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libgdbm3 1.8.3-2GNU dbm database routines (runtime ii libgnutls11 1.0.16-13.2sarge2 GNU TLS library - runtime library ii libgpg-error0 1.0-1 library for common error values an ii libgsasl7 0.2.5-1GNU SASL library ii libguile-ltdl-1 1.6.7-1Guile's patched version of libtool ii libidn11 0.5.13-1.0 GNU libidn library, implementation ii libkrb53 1.3.6-2sarge3 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libmailutils0 1:0.6.1-4sarge2GNU Mail abstraction library ii libmysqlclient12 4.0.24-10sarge2mysql database client library ii libncurses5 5.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libpam0g 0.76-22Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libqthreads-121.6.7-1QuickThreads library for Guile ii libreadline5 5.0-10 GNU readline and history libraries ii libtasn1-20.2.10-3sarge1 Manage ASN.1 structures (runtime) ii zlib1g1:1.2.2-4.sarge.2 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#329204: munin: print() on closed filehandle STATS -errors
Package: munin Version: 1.2.3-3 Severity: minor Recently a munin installation began spitting out tons of cron mail. This time it was: print() on closed filehandle STATS at /usr/share/munin/munin-graph line 1125. print() on closed filehandle STATS at /usr/share/munin/munin-graph line 1125. print() on closed filehandle STATS at /usr/share/munin/munin-graph line 1125. print() on closed filehandle STATS at /usr/share/munin/munin-graph line 396. .. and the like, over and over. Line numbers are from 1.2.3-1. I found out that /var/lib/munin/ had changed ownership to root.root during some changes and I believe munin apparently could no longer create the tmp files on it. unless ($skip_stats) { open (STATS,">$config->{dbdir}/munin-graph.stats.tmp") or logger("Unable to open $config->{dbdir}/munin-graph.stats.tmp"); } The entry really does appear in munin logs (from whence even logcheck won't pull it by default) and does not enter the cron output. Bug#291112: bittornado: BT hangs on disk full
Package: bittornado Version: 0.3.11-4 Followup-For: Bug #291112 I'm not sure how the gui part will work, but I've noticed that if I have btdownloadmanycurses running and it fills the volume, the process will hang. Deleting some of the downloads won't work as the file is still open in the BT process. Disk will stay full. But, ^C will also not quit the curses version as usual. It seems to be hung. I haven't checked what would happen if I freed space in some other way. Kill will still stop it, free the file (and the space) and a newly launched version will run normally. I don't see ghost processes. If the gui runs some other process or thread to do its downloads or something, maybe this is also what happens to the worker. Window closes fine, but the download/save/... worker is still stuck. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_GB, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages bittornado depends on: ii python2.3.5-2An interactive high-level object-o -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". I suppose this is some kind of an api version mixup in the builds. I'm afraid I can't figure out what, if anything, README.Debian is saying about this. Any way, it would be nice to be able to load the extension like the docs say. Or at least have this and a workaround explained in the docs. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_GB, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages gauche-gl depends on: ii freeglut32.2.0-8 OpenGL Utility Toolkit ii gauche 0.7.4.2-1.1 A Scheme implementation designed f ii libc62.3.2.ds1-20GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libsm6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System Session Management ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxi6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System Input extension li ii libxmu6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System miscellaneous util ii xlibmesa-gl [libgl1] 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 Mesa 3D graphics library [XFree86] ii xlibmesa-glu [libglu1] 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 Mesa OpenGL utility library [XFree ii xlibs4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
