Bug#1031860: kmail with akonadi stops working after security-upgrade of '*mariadb*'

2023-02-24 Thread Jürgen Leibner
Package:mariadb-server-core-10.3
Version:1:10.3.38-0+deb10u1

When I upgrade the above listed packages, kmail doesn't work anymore due to the
following akonadi failures and kmail gets unusable.
I expected, that a security upgrade doesn't break any working application or
environment.

Bug#773794: kmail cannot create new folders annymore

2014-12-23 Thread Jürgen Leibner
Package: kmail
Version: 4:4.14.2-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
Try to create a new local folder / new subfolder on imap resource
as I can do with mutt or other MUAs on the same system and
 environment.
It seems that kmail becomes more or less unusable in same way as KDE4 does
with
all that tiny errors and failures hitting me every day ... :-(
Please upgrade your program(ming) quality up to a usable minimum!

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Don't know, it doesn't do what I described above yesterday the
first time. After upgrading to the newest version nothing changes.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
It shows a failure message in a dialog box with this text:
Der Ordner kann nicht angelegt werden: Unable to append mimetype
 for collection test resourceId: 7

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
That the folder is created and shown in the folder tree.

I did the same but it doesn't solve the problem.
It hangs after telling that it reads the database.

 So still unusable ...

These days I started a new try to see if something changed after version
upgrades of digikam.
I started digikam as usual ... and it crashes as usual.
I moved the .db files out of the way and started again ... it asks for the
place where the pictures are and then behaves normal.
No crash so far.
I can start it again and close and start again. It works.
I changed the phonon-backends from vlc to gstreamer and back but no crash
and no hanging, it works with both. I decided to use vlc because amarok
plays sound with it while it does not with gstreamer.

While playing around with digikam it crashes in one situation wich I
reported then under

Bug#357141: It's a shame that noone is taking care of this bug

2014-05-06 Thread Jürgen Leibner
Hi,

after all that years of being filed, I noticed that the bug Jan was so kind
to file for me is still open.
And the only comment is from someone who doesn't understand the problem
itself.
That is a shame.

... only my 2 cent but it should be said, sorry for the noise.

Bug#653562: gosa: allows DNS entries with '_' (underscores) in hostnames

2011-12-29 Thread Jürgen Leibner
Source: gosa
Version: 2.6.11-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when adding a network system to gosa it is possible to give it a name with an
underscore.
This leads into a LDAP error when I try to use this added host afterwards in
the netgroups plugin.
As far as I know underscores are not allowed in host names.
There should be an input validation in gosa that only allows correct host names.

Bug#608195: xrdp: Some additional informations

2010-12-28 Thread Jürgen Leibner
Package: xrdp
Version: 0.5.0~20100303cvs-6
Severity: normal

I discovered the same behaviour of xrdp as Petter explained.
It doesn't matter if you connect from a WindowsXP machine or a Debian machine
with rdesktop, the effects are the same.
I tried to use rdesktop with different options and parameters to get it solved
or
even better but dit doesn't work in any case.
I can remember that it was perfekt the first time when I tried it within
Debian-Edu
and was surprised that it gives such worse drawings when I tried it on 3th Dec.
the last time.
Now, I tried it again on pure Debian and it is the same as on debian-Edu.
Following the hints from Vincent Bernat I can't get it working better.
To configure KDE is not an option for the targetted usage.

Bug#553503: exim4 segfaults here too

Hello.

Hmm. I have broken exim to cause it to crash reliably. Yesterday in
the evening I also had problems get a coredump from this broken
 binary, today it works. :-O

Did you perhaps restart exim at a later point of time without
 ulimit -c unlimited.

No. I didn't.

 How about adding

 ulimit -c unlimited
 echo 2 /proc/sys/fs/suid_dumpable
 echo '/tmp/%e.core.%t.%p' /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern

to the top of /etc/init.d/exim4 and running
 /etc/init.d/exim4 restart
afterwards to make sure things are set up properly?

Done, so we are waiting again.

Bug#557254: figlet: please provide a usefull short description and more describing words for finding it

2009-11-20 Thread Jürgen Leibner
Package: figlet
Version: 2.2.2-1
Severity: minor

Searching for a package with the functionality of figlet with apt/aptitude
will be in most cases not successfull, because of the poor and useless short
description.
Having a word like 'banner' in the short or long description and having the
usage for creating
a banner for something like a motd file explained would help much.

Bug#438189: Just an idea

2007-08-16 Thread Jürgen Leibner
Hi

as Steffen wrote that the long description would be:

Major news and very important changes in the Debian-Edu/Skolelinux
project are announced here.

I thought about this sentence and my first idea was:

Why do we want to tell only registered people such urgent news?

so I came to the point that it should go conform with the news section
on http://www.skolelinux.org/ and everyone should be able to get such
breaking news per RSS-feed and not only over mailing list.
A side effect I wish, is that a lot of people will read the other
content on that site.

Greetings, Jürgen
