Bug#696534: Confirmed the bug is still present

2014-07-07 Thread Jan-Oliver Wagner
Hello,

I can confirm that the bug is still there.
We experienced it now and then.

Was not easy to find out it was bootlogd.

# update-rc.d bootlogd disable

made the system come back to normal.

After fixing another daemon that produce strange output,
re-enabling of bootlogd was possible and all worked again.

Best

Jan

Bug#703686: w3af_console not working

2014-01-06 Thread Jan-Oliver Wagner
Hello,

I just stumbled across the very same problem. It is a pretty annoying bug and
at the same it looks pretty simple to fix.
Any rationale why it is not being fixed?

Best regards

Bug#697379: base-files: The directory /usr/games IMHO should not be a "base file"

2013-01-04 Thread Jan-Oliver Wagner
Package: base-files
Version: 6.0squeeze6
Severity: minor

The directory /usr/games is created by this package:

$ dpkg -S /usr/games
base-files: /usr/games

IMHO this directory should not be a "base file" anymore.
LFH says "Once upon a time, this directory contained network games files.
Rarely used now."

The background issue is to build Debian Systems where no "games" occurs
anywhere is consistently possible with the Debian packaging.

Since user "games" has "/usr/games" as home directory by default,
the change may affect other packages as well.
IMHO the user "games" is not required either as a default user and
especially not with that home directory.

In fact it is OK to fix this for next stable release.

appararently it has been removed recently in nessus.
In OpenVAS it is still present. I wonder why it has been removed
from nessus.

Therefore your suggestion is indeed valid.

at least found in openvas-plugins:
plugins/3com_hub/3com_hub.c:#include

Also lots of matches for HAVE_LIBNET_1_1

Bug#383476: nessus-plugins: nessus-update-plugins fails to restart nessusd

2006-08-17 Thread Jan-Oliver Wagner
Package: nessus-plugins
Severity: important

The scripts nessus-update-plugins and nessus-update-plugins-gpl
restart the nessusd their own way under some assumptions about
the location of the PID file which happen to be wrong for the
Debian nessusd package.

Suggested fix: in the two scripts nessus-update-plugins[-gpl]
don't hup directly but call /etc/init.d/nessusd restart.

Bug#383479: Standard method to put nessusd into a runlevel fails

2006-08-17 Thread Jan-Oliver Wagner
Package: nessusd
Severity: normal

Note: Tested with 2.2.8-1 backport on Sarge.

The Debian script to update Sys5 Init scripts is
update-rc.d(8).

It fails for nessusd:

# update-rc.d nessusd defaults
System startup links for /etc/init.d/nessusd already exist.

This error message is because the Debian nessusd package
already installs a symlink for stopping the daemon:

$ ls /etc/rc*/*nessusd*
/etc/rc0.d/K20nessusd /etc/rc6.d/K20nessusd

but none for starting the daemon.

/usr/share/doc/nessusd/README.Debian says:

Nessus has a test for its daemon running, because it is a potential security
problem, so it wouldn't seem wise to automatically start it on boot-up.

An init script for nessusd is provided in the file the.init.d.script,
courtesy of Luca Andreucci <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and others.

But lacks an explanation how to use the init script.

Isn't it better to not install the stop-script for the runlevels by
default?

probably the problem is that the thuban package does not list
gdal-bin as a dependency.

thanks for the patch!

It is applied to the 1-0 branch of Thuban and will appear with
release 1.0.2.

The problem is not relevant for the HEAD (ie. 1.1/1.2) branch
because gdalwarp.cpp has been rewritten and does not have this
macro anymore.
