Bug#589790: pacpl needs the normalize program installed

2010-07-20 Thread Jason Lewis
Package: pacpl
Version: 4.0.5-3
Severity: normal

pacpl has an option to normalise the audio it is converting using --normalize.
this option requires the program normalize to be installed. it is not a
required package of pacpl so it does not find the normalize program.
also, on debian normalize is called normalize-audio not normalize

Bug#400494: further issues compiling

2007-07-15 Thread Jason Lewis

Hi,

I have been trying to compile the lirc-modules-source but it fails to

I have been trying to compile it with kernel 2.6.22rc7 source. I have
successfully compiled and installed the kernel from this source. Kernel
source is from a debian package, not vanilla kernel package.

Thanks,

Jason

Bug#505497: nmzmail: uninitialised value error

2008-11-12 Thread Jason Lewis
Package: nmzmail
Version: 0.1.3-3
Severity: normal

When I run nmzmail from cron, I get the following error:

"Use of uninitialized value $value in concatenation (.) or string at
/usr/bin/mknmz line 2100."

I believe it worked when I installed nmzmail a few months ago but it stoped
working when I upgraded something on my system (not sure what that was though)

Hope that helps.

I tested on another stretch installation, but it worked fine there.

* What was the outcome of this action?

it exits with an error

* What outcome did you expect instead?

I expect it to exit without an error. It appears this bug has been fixed

Bug#1024734: pipewire-pulse: please enable auto switch on connect in pipewire-pulse.conf by default

2022-11-23 Thread Jason Lewis

Package: pipewire-pulse
Version: 0.3.60-2
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

* What led up to the situation?

I connected my already paired headset to my machine.

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or

ineffective)?

It connected without error

* What was the outcome of this action?

Chrome was not outputting any sound to my bluetooth headset

* What outcome did you expect instead?

I expect sound should have been directed from chrome to my headset
automatically after my headset connects to the computer.

I eventually found that I could manually switch output using Pulse
Volume control. It would be better to automatically switch when the bt
device connects.

See
https://alexandra-zaharia.github.io/posts/fix-disabled-a2dp-profile-for-bluetooth-headset-in-linux/

Fix involves adding "{ path = "pactl" args = "load-module
module-switch-on-connect" }"

to the /usr/share/pipewire/pipewire-pulse.conf file

Please consider making this the default

Thanks

Jason

Bug#812257: bash clobbers gnome-terminal and xfce4-terminal title

2016-01-21 Thread Jason Lewis
Package: bash
Version: 4.3-11+b1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

I was trying to understand why xfce4-terminal's titles never seemed to change.
After digging around a bit I found that gnome-terminal's title also was not
changing. it was stuck on user@host:dir

I found that it's hard coded in /etc/skel/.bashrc
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~doko/+junk/pkg-bash-
debian/view/head:/skel.bashrc#L66

One problem with this is that if you open many xterms you end up with them all
being named the same thing and its hard to navigate between them using context
switching.

   * What led up to the situation?

I see the benefit of titling the term in this way, but there is also a downside
to it.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I expected the title of the term to reflect the commands I'm executing in the
term.

Please consider commenting out these lines in /etc/skel/.bashrc
case "$TERM" in
xterm*|rxvt*)
PS1="\[\e]0;${debian_chroot:+($debian_chroot)}\u@\h: \w\a\]$PS1"
;;
*)
;;
esac

or perhaps finding a way to include the user@host:dir and the current command
in the term title?

Package: thunderbird
Version: 1:45.8.0-3

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

I have been experiencing frequent crashes with thunderbird, and before that
icedove. I've followed the debug instructions here:
https://wiki.debian.org/Icedove#Debugging

crashes happen at random times, but do seem to have some correlation to when I
click on a new email or hit the compose button, or do some action in
thunderbird.

threaded backtrace attached.

Bug#766443: bashrc does not detect xterm-256color and does not colour the prompt accordingly

2014-10-22 Thread Jason Lewis
Package: bash
Version: 4.2+dfsg-0.1+deb7u3
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Often I ssh into my debian box from machines that have the environment variable
$TERM set to xterm-256color.

the .bashrc in /etc/skel does not test for this, only for xterm-color leading
to a black and white prompt.

Please consider changing line 40 of the .bashrc to be something like:

  xterm-color|*-256color)

which would also help for things like rxvt-unicode-256color and screen-256color

Thanks,
