Bug#590885: Followup
Just to give a little more information... I did not have VB 3.0 installed at the time that I had this error but in fact VB 3.2. The error was coming from the fact that I had the official VB package repository in my sources.list: (deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/ lenny non-free) Oracle offers old versions of VB for installation from there, so that's how the VB 3.0 package with the bad filename made it into /var/lib/dpkg/available. The solution was pretty simple, remove that repo from sources.list and rebuild /var/lib/dpkg/available. Am I correct in assuming that anyone with that line in their sources.list will have a failed upgrade? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#590885: upgrade fails w/ 'dpkg: parse error' due to Lenny version of non-free VirtualBox package
Package: dpkg Version: dpkg_1.15.8_amd64.deb Severity: normal I'm aware of the fact that running the Lenny version of Oracle's VB package under sid is not supported. Hell, I'm supprised it even works. Upgrading dpkg fails due to having it installed, however. I'm concerned about the potential for Lenny -- Squeeze upgrade failures for people with this package installed under Lenny. Bug#586387: chromium-browser: Lots of UI crashes and weirdness
On Tuesday, July 06, 2010 12:33:12 am Jonathan Nieder wrote: Joe Neal wrote: I got it run with chromium frozen. I just wasn't real sure what to do with the data from there. You can copy and paste the backtrace from the terminal or use gdb | tee backtrace.txt to log debugging output to a file[1]. Then I would suggest attaching it to http://crbug.com/48259 (or failing that, the Debian bug). OK, I just had another crash. The output ps -ax | grep chromium is attached as is the debug log and backtrace log. Variations of those last two lines in chrome_debug.log appear in stdout when things start to lock out. I know zilch about using gdb. Low level programming for me is python. If there is anything I could do in the future to coax more data out of it, let me know. One thing I should probably mention for the sake of debugging is that I'm still using the EOLed 64 bit flash plugin. In general I've found it less crashy than using the 32 bit one with nspluginwrapper. I can copy paste and paste my entire about:plugins page if needed if there's not an easier way to extract that information. If you can copy this report over to the other place I'll make an account and report all subsequent reports both here and there. Bug#586387: chromium-browser: Lots of UI crashes and weirdness
Package: chromium-browser Version: 5.0.375.70~r48679-2 Severity: normal I've been having a lot of weird problems with Chromium and I can't help but think they are all related. Sometimes a tab will freeze and become unresponsive and unclosable until I take action on any other tab, ie open another tab or close another tab. Sometimes there is no way to unfreeze it but to close cromium entirely. Sometimes when this happens non-chromium parts of the UI freeze up, such as my task bar, forcing a ctl-alt-del to log out of KDE. When the UI is hung like this is sometimes acts like the mouse focus is frozen, for example hitting enter to logout won't work but will instead open a Konsole sesssion if that's where the focus was before I tried to log out. I always have to wait the full 30 seconds to log out because I'm unable to select enter to do so. When I use Chromium in Fluxbox I get no maximize and close buttons on the window, when using the chromium default WM and when I select use system title bar and borders nothing happens at all. When I use it in XFCE it leaves a dark bar accross the top of the screen where I had the title bar maximized after I close it. I had the exact same problems with the Google packaged Chrome which is why I switched to the debian package when it became available but unfortunately the problems remained. I saw no bugs that looked like this in the Google bug trackers. I've looked all over my home directory for the old savefile and can't find it. If I start a new character with 'angband -uBob' or whatever it works fine. I just can't start it with the unadorned 'angband' command. Bug#567034: [xserver-xorg-video-intel] when using KMS, X puts the monitor directly into power saving mode upon startup[945G]
