Hi Brian, thanks for your help. But isn't it still a bug that cups is creating a printer(-queue) that not only does not work, but also when using it opens connections to the printer for hours? I think about the situation, that you have many bookworm clients in the network, this could amount to a denial of service. I deleted the not working Kyocera_ECOSYS_M5526cdw but cups keeps recreating it when I connect to the corresponding network. Johan Am Do., 30. Bug#1033625:
I found #883554 when googling "implicitclass cups". That's a difference between the two print queues: One is ipps://Kyocera%20ECOSYS%20M5526cdw._ipps._tcp.local/ (works) and the other is implicitclass://Kyocera_ECOSYS_M5526cdw/ (the not printing but connecting one, btw never created or configured manually).

Bug#1033625: cups constantly without timeout connects to network printer, does not print
Package: cups Version: 2.4.2-2 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: johan.kroec...@gmail.com I am using a Kyocera Ecosys m5526cdw over the network. Printing stopped working (worked with this version before). Now when I try to start a print job cups ends with a message "Der Druckauftrag wurde nicht angenommen.". BUT: Now cups connects to the printer (LED on printer lights up as long as the pc is on) but nothing is printed. When I reboot, the LED stops to blink as long as the system is not completely booted, then the connection starts again. I am writing this report on the affected machine, logged in over ssh. Switching num lock works. ALT-F1 etc has no effect. That's probably a kernel problem. Could you please try a 3.17 kernel from experimental[1] to see if it's already fixed? Please test the latest 3.16 kernel in Jessie, version 3.16.7-ckt2-1 contains various nouveau patches that might fix your problem. Bug#773248: nautilus: problem with recycle bin when btrfs subvolumes are mounted under home
Package: nautilus Version: 3.14.1-2 Severity: important I use subvolumes under some subdirectories like this (from fstab): /dev/sdb1 /home/johan/Downloads btrfs defaults, nofail, subvol=Downloads 0 1 When I now delete a file in Downloads it ends in ~/Downloads/.Trash-1000/files/ but it is not possible to really delete it. The empty recycle bin command does not delete the files in the respective subvolumes. It does not even recognize them, so when only files in subvolumes got deleted the empty bin command is greyed out. This is a major privacy problem because you dont see that deleted files are actually not deleted. It is even impossible to delete them from within nautilus without moving them out of the subvolume, because they are moved/copied to the same folder again. -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.0 APT prefers testing-updates APT policy: (500, 'testing-updates'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages nautilus depends on: ii desktop-file-utils 0.22-1 ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 3.14.1-1 ii gvfs 1.22.2-1 ii libatk1.0-02.14.0-1 ii libc6 2.19-13 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.14.0-2.1 ii libcairo2 1.14.0-2.1 ii libexempi3 2.2.1-2 ii libexif12 0.6.21-2 ii libgail-3-03.14.5-1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.31.1-2+b1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.42.1-1 ii libglib2.0-data2.42.1-1 ii libgnome-desktop-3-10 3.14.1-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.14.5-1 ii libnautilus-extension1a3.14.1-2 ii libnotify4 0.7.6-2 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.36.8-3 ii libpangocairo-1.0-01.36.8-3 ii libselinux12.3-2 ii libtracker-sparql-1.0-01.2.4-1 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.2-3 ii libxml22.9.1+dfsg1-4 ii nautilus-data 3.14.1-2 ii shared-mime-info 1.3-1 Versions of packages nautilus recommends: ii eject 2.1.5+deb1+cvs20081104-13.1 ii gnome-icon-theme-symbolic 3.12.0-1 ii gnome-sushi3.12.0-2+b1 ii gvfs-backends 1.22.2-1 ii librsvg2-common2.40.5-1 Versions of packages nautilus suggests: ii brasero3.11.4-1 ii eog3.14.1-1 ii evince [pdf-viewer]3.14.1-1 ii totem 3.14.0-2 ii tracker1.2.4-1 ii vlc [mp3-decoder] 2.2.0~rc2-1 ii vlc-nox [mp3-decoder] 2.2.0~rc2-1 ii xdg-user-dirs 0.15-2 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#769995: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: displays don't wake up after suspend
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau Version: 1:1.0.11-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, after waking up from suspend, the two monitors stay in power save mode, no matter what I do. I am writing this report on the affected machine, logged in over ssh. Switching num lock works. ALT-F1 etc has no effect. The closed source driver wakes up from suspend, but leaves corruptions in the wallpaper, so I tried nouveau again. I added my problem discription to #768896, but I am not sure whether this is the correct one. I have a disabled closed source nvidia driver installed. It's disabled by renaming modprobes.conf.d's to nvidia*.conf-disabled, blacklist nvidia, setting alternatives for glx, loading nouveau explicitly over an xorg.conf.d. Hope the installed closed source driver is not the problem. -- Package-specific info: X server symlink status: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Oct 12 22:00 /etc/X11/X - /usr/bin/Xorg -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2397280 Nov 3 22:52 /usr/bin/Xorg Diversions concerning libGL are in place diversion of /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGL.so.1.2.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGL.so.1.2.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/libGL.so.1 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv2.so.2.0.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv2.so.2.0.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/libGLESv2.so.2 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/libGLESv2.so.2 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGL.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGL.so by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLESv1_CM.so.1.1.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLESv1_CM.so.1.1.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv1_CM.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv1_CM.so by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv2.so.2 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv2.so.2 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLESv2.so.2 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLESv2.so.2 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGL.so.1.2 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGL.so.1.2 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/libGLESv1_CM.so.1.1.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/libGLESv1_CM.so.1.1.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv1_CM.so.1 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv1_CM.so.1 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLESv1_CM.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLESv1_CM.so by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv1_CM.so.1.1.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv1_CM.so.1.1.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/libGL.so.1.2.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/libGLESv2.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/libGLESv2.so by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/libGL.so.1.2 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv1_CM.so.1.1.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv1_CM.so.1.1.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1.2.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1.2.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv2.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv2.so by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/libGL.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/libGL.so by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv2.so.2 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv2.so.2 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1.2 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1.2 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv2.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv2.so by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/libGLESv1_CM.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/libGLESv1_CM.so by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1.2.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/i386-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1.2.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGL.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/i386-linux-gnu/libGL.so by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGL.so.1 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGL.so.1 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv2.so.2.0.0 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/i386-linux-gnu/libGLESv2.so.2.0.0 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/libGLESv1_CM.so.1 to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/libGLESv1_CM.so.1 by glx-diversions diversion of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so to /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so by

Bug#768519: nautilus does not start from dash when it handles the desktop
Why not? Gnome-Tweak-Tool seems to be an official product of Gnome and it worked flawlessly before. 2014-11-11 15:33 GMT+01:00 Andreas Henriksson andr...@fatal.se: Hello Johan Kröckel! I'm pretty confident the reason nautilus doesn't start when handling the desktop is because it's already running. As your videos demonstrates the dash tries to get you back to the instance you're already running (on another workspace?) rather then start yet another process. In the case you're running nautilus to handle your desktop you get brough back to it when you try to start nautilus again (as a file browser). Basically, nautilus handling the desktop was not designed for GNOME 3.x. You're running an unsupported setup so you get to keep both pieces (and if you manage to glue them back together, feel free to share a patch). What you probably want to accomplish is to split the manage desktop part out of nautilus to make it two separate programs. Bug#768398: anki: Old version can't sync with AnkiWeb
On Sat, 8 Nov 2014 02:57:08 +0100 Andreas Bombe andreas.bo...@mytum.de wrote: On Fri, Nov 07, 2014 at 11:36:54AM +0900, Douglas Perkins wrote: Now when I try to sync, I get a popup error message, Syncing failed: Please upgrade to the latest version of Anki. I've tried several times with the same outcome. In the past, this has happened when the AnkiWeb server administrator decided to force clients to use the most recent version. The newest version on http://ankisrs.net/#linux is 2.0.31. Currently, Sid has version 2.0.30. Is it possible to move to 2.0.31? My apologies for posting here. The problem is not precisely with the client, but rather with the AnkiWeb server administration requiring lightning-fast client upgrades. Yes, that is the usual problem with Anki. I had hoped for it to last a little bit longer, but it was not to be as it seems. The thing is that Debian is now frozen to prepare the jessie release and I can't just go and upload new versions whenever they come out. Certainly I won't be able to get them into jessie, which is going to have 2.0.30+dfsg-1. Maybe I will upload new versions into experimental to have them available to users of sid/unstable. I also intend to offer backports for stable users, which is the only way to get a network syncable Anki in a release with all that regular breaking of older versions. Andreas So there's no chance, that jessie will have a working Anki version? Syncing is a crucial part of the program. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#707224: gedit: default preferences mean a privacy risk
Package: gedit Version: 3.4.2-1 Severity: important The default setting of the preference make a backup before saving (don't know exactly, using german version) is a privacy risk, because the backups are hidden files. Example: I create a note text file including my bank account data on an usb stick and before giving the stick away, I want to delete all files not meant to be read by a stranger.
