I agree but the issue here is having the session closed when doing a simple apt
upgrade...

needrestart and debian-goodies are not installed in our workstations, but we
use needrestart on our servers so I'm familiar with the use of this tool. That
could have been a lead though.

If you are not affected by this there must be something specific with out setup
(we do all kind of tweaks to our Debian installations), that would also explain
why I can't find any complain online since Monday... But I have no clue what it
could be. If you or anyone has any idea where to look that would be great :)

Bug#1070837: gnome-shell: Last Gnome-Shell upgrade crashes logged session

Package: gnome-shell
Version: 43.9-0+deb12u2

X-Debbugs-Cc: t...@security.debian.org

Hi !

In Bookworm last gnome-shell upgrade 43.9-0+deb12u1 -> 43.9-0+deb12u2
closes current logged session. Same issue with Bullseye
(3.38.6-1~deb11u1 -> 3.38.6-1~deb11u2). Doesn't look like an actual
crash in logs : "mai 10 10:16:14 ene-natl-pc-530 systemd[1]: Stopping

Bug#1008973: linux-image-amd64: Very slow wireless with MEDIATEK 7961

2022-06-15 Thread Julien Negros

Hello !

I tried this one also
https://packages.debian.org/sid/linux-image-5.17.0-3-amd64-unsigned,
same issue.
I saw that 5.18 was available, so I tried
https://packages.debian.org/sid/linux-image-5.18.0-1-amd64, it's better
but we're still far from 5.15...

Dear Maintainer,

We have a problem with MEDIATEK 7961 wireless on Levono P14s with AMD
Ryzen.

With 5.10 kernel on debian stable the wireless just does not work, so we
installed kernel 5.16 from testing.

With kernel 5.16 the wireless is so slow that it's unusable, each
internet query takes several seconds. A simple ping to google.com varies
from 100ms to 3000ms.

With kernel 5.17 it's slighly better but the ping still goes up to
600ms.

With kernel 5.15 however, it works quite good, Internet is very usable,
ping varies from 3ms to 30ms.
(on the same network, the P14s with Intel wireless does better and is
always under 10ms).

It looks like big changes were made to the mt7921e driver in 5.16
according to Phoronix :
The Mediatek MT7921 WiFi driver has added support for 6GHz WiFi, active
state power management (ASPM), and other improvements.

And it looks like this caused a big regression with MEDIATEK 7961.

Besides the network performance problem on 5.16, suspend/resume is also
broken, while it works perfectly on 5.15.

Linux 5.17.3 (uploaded to unstable earlier today) includes a lot of

Bug#951046: ibus: Numpad not working in GDM lockscreen when ibus installed in Stretch

2020-02-18 Thread Julien Negros
This is not related to an accessibility option since there is the direct
workaround I described.
However I should have indeed tested on a "stock" Stretch, we have a
custom one but not that much so I saw no connection... Anyway this bug
can be closed then, I can't reproduce either on stock Stretch. We found
no explication but a solid workaround : org.gnome.desktop.input-sources
xkb-options set as ['numpad:mac'].

Sorry for your time, have a nice day

Bug#951046: ibus: Numpad not working in GDM lockscreen when ibus installed in Stretch

2020-02-10 Thread Julien Negros
Package: ibus
Version: 1.5.14-3+deb9u2
Severity: important

Hi !

Not sure I'm doing the right thing since this issue is not present with
updated version of the ibus package, like in Buster. But in Stretch,
still supported Debian version, there is this annoying problem of numpad
not working when locking the screen. The workaround is to to click "Log
in as another user" and then select your user.
No more issue when removing "ibus".

Thanks !
