Bug#976192: ncal: incorrect week numbers for 2021
Hi, I'm getting the same issue. I believe the issue comes from this commit: https://salsa.debian.org/meskes/bsdmainutils/-/commit/34bf2cd955305983e58447b46e1f927e82106da1 (https://salsa.debian.org/meskes/bsdmainutils/-/commit/34bf2cd955305983e58447b46e1f927e82106da1) from the ncal_fdow.diff patch On my system (Debian Sid), *nl_langinfo(_NL_TIME_WEEK_1STWEEK) returns 4, which is different from the default (3). Locales: LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8 I've tested on FreeBSD-current (which does not have those linux-only patches) and the week number was correct. Cheers, Kate
Bug#972235: libgc-dev: Library is outdated on Stable and causes crashes on x86_32
Package: libgc-devVersion: 7.6.4-0.4 libgc-dev and libgc1c2 are outdated on Debian 10 Stable and contain bugs that makes it unusable for my test case on x86_32 (x86_64 using the 32bit compat layer) Here is the bug I hit: https://github.com/ivmai/bdwgc/issues/177 I tried to hit the same bug on Debian Testing (that uses libgc 8.0.4) and it was indeed fixed. The patch has been backported to the release-7_6 branch and the latest release from this branch is libgc 7.6.12. I also get a different crash on ppc64 but I need more testing to know if this release also fixes the issue. Would it be possible to update libgc-dev and libgc1c2 from 7.6.4 to 7.6.12 (released the 01/03/2019) ?Warm regards,Kate
Bug#966516: mako-notifier: Runtime failure when the config file is a symlink
Hi, Thanks for your reply! I understand the issue and I simply switched the symlink for a hardlink, in my case it doesn't really matter. I suppose the issue can now be closed but I'm wondering whether some other people might have the same issue later and whether it can be fixed in some way. I don't know, your call I guess. Thanks a lot! Bug#966516: mako-notifier: Runtime failure when the config file is a symlink
Package: mako-notifier Version: 1.4.1-1 When creating a config file for mako using a symlink, the program fails to run successfully: $ mkdir ~/.config/mako $ touch ~/test-config $ ln -s ~/.confiq/mako/config ~/test-config $ mako Unable to open /home/kit_ty_kate/.config/mako/config for readingFailed to parse config However, I tried to compile mako from source https://github.com/emersion/mako.git (https://github.com/emersion/mako) using the same tag (v1.4.1): $ git checkout v1.4.1 $ meson build $ ninja -C build $ ./build/mako and the resulting binary ./build/mako works fine. You are actually pointing to a config file for a completly different device. We are using the rtl8821a this config file is for the rtl8723au_bt... Good evening. I was fighting with this problem (Direct firmware load for rtl_bt/rtl8821a_config.bin failed with error -2) for some time. In /lib/firmware/rtl_bt/ directory I found that indeed this file has a problem to load because this file does not even exist. For some reason only one file is present, rtl8821a_fw.bin, where another device has two (rtl8821c_config.bin and rtl8821c_fw.bin): ls -al /lib/firmware/rtl_bt ... -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 40520 Aug 23 02:04 rtl8812ae_fw.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37420 Aug 23 02:04 rtl8821a_fw.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root10 Aug 23 02:04 rtl8821c_config.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37356 Aug 23 02:04 rtl8821c_fw.bin ... I had package firmware-realtek installed in newest version, so I downloaded .deb package from Debian webpage (https://packages.debian.org/buster-backports/firmware-realtek). Browsing it as archive I found that file rtl_bt/rtl8821a_config.bin is also absent, for unknown to me reason. Then I started looking for this file in other releases (sid and bullseye), with no positive result. I visited Realtek webpage, only to find that they have drivers only for Windows for this device. Digging further, on address https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/952071/ , I discovered following note about some Realtek devices: > The Bluetooth parts of RTL8723D and RTL8723B share the same lmp > subversion, thus we need to check both lmp subversion and hci revision > to distinguish the two. The same situation is true for RTL8821A and > RTL8821C. Accordingly, the selection code is revised. > To improve maintainability, a new id_table struct is defined, and an > array of such structs is constructed. Adding a new device can thus be > as simple as adding another value to the table. With lack of luck in my quest to find rtl8821a_config.bin file for Debian Buster I decided to try a crazy idea: duplicate rtl8821c_config.bin file and rename duplication on rtl8821a_config.bin. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 40520 Aug 23 02:04 rtl8812ae_fw.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root10 Feb 5 17:11 rtl8821a_config.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37420 Aug 23 02:04 rtl8821a_fw.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root10 Aug 23 02:04 rtl8821c_config.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37356 Aug 23 02:04 rtl8821c_fw.bin If both devices are so similar, maybe providing fake rtl8821a_config.bin file will do the trick. After restart I I used dmesg and checked logs: [ 26.389532] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: rtl: examining hci_ver=06 hci_rev=000a lmp_ver=06 lmp_subver=8821 [ 26.390623] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: rom_version status=0 version=1 [ 26.390624] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: rtl: loading rtl_bt/rtl8821a_fw.bin [ 26.392597] bluetooth hci0: firmware: direct-loading firmware rtl_bt/rtl8821a_fw.bin [ 26.392605] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: rtl: loading rtl_bt/rtl8821a_config.bin [ 26.392748] bluetooth hci0: firmware: direct-loading firmware rtl_bt/rtl8821a_config.bin [ 26.392757] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: cfg_sz 10, total sz 17438 Well, it looked promising. I installed some additional Bluetooth-related packages (blueman, bluewho and entire family of bluez; bluetooth and bluez were installed earlier) and then I launched Bluetooth Manager. It turns out that program not only detected Bluetooth device on my laptop but also I was able to send files between my laptop and my Nokia mobile on both directions. I paired successfully both devices, but because lack of Bluetooth speakers I do not know if it is possible to play music via Bluetooth. It should be, I hope. So, my "solution" seems to work, at least for me. But may I ask the question why file named rtl8821a_config.bin is not present in the firmware-realtek package? It does not exist at all or was removed for some reason? Also my method is nasty, I know about it, but if anyone will solve his/her problem by it, I will be happy. With kindest regards, Oliwia

Bug#939945: frei0r-plugins-dev: frei0r.pc is not located correctly
Package: frei0r-plugins-dev Severity: major Dear Maintainers, frei0r-plugins-dev contains a file named frei0r.pc used by pkg-config. However the location for this file has changed since testing. In stable it was in /usr/lib/pkgconfig which seems correct but it doesn't seem to be where most .pc files are located. In testing and unstable it is located in /usr/share/pkgconfig/pkgconfig which is not correct, it should be /usr/share/pkgconfig (where most .pc are located) As a consequence, the frei0r library cannot be used in testing and sid. Kind regards, Kate

Bug#561505: hal: Fails to upgrade
I had exactly the same problem as Kurt on my x86 machine; I had just done a fresh install of lenny, changed my sources.list to squeeze and then done a dist-upgrade; like Kurt, hal failed to configure properly. So I left the problem as it was and rebooted. Then aptitude was still in a state to upgrade hal and its dependencies, only this time it worked fine. Don't know if that helps. Kate
