Bug#993208: js8call: TX broken
Package: js8call Version: 2.2.0+ds-2 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system X-Debbugs-Cc: leventel...@gmail.com Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? I isnstalled js8call, and tried to transmit. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I pressed the tune button. * What was the outcome of this action? The waterfall was freezing, showing only one line of information. The TX wasn't happening. Some application, including firefox wasn't able to play videos. Can't exit JS8CALL. The GUI disappears, but the process remains there. * What outcome did you expect instead? Stable transmit of audio signals, no other app to break. -- System Information: Debian Release: 11.0 APT prefers stable-security APT policy: (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 5.10.0-8-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU threads) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages js8call depends on: ii libc6 2.31-13 ii libfftw3-single3 3.3.8-2 ii libgcc-s1 10.2.1-6 ii libgfortran5 10.2.1-6 ii libgomp1 10.2.1-6 ii libhamlib-utils4.0-7 ii libhamlib4 4.0-7 ii libqcustomplot2.0 2.0.1+dfsg1-4 ii libqt5core5a 5.15.2+dfsg-9 ii libqt5gui5 5.15.2+dfsg-9 ii libqt5multimedia5 5.15.2-3 ii libqt5network5 5.15.2+dfsg-9 ii libqt5serialport5 5.15.2-2 ii libqt5widgets5 5.15.2+dfsg-9 ii libsqlite3-0 3.34.1-3 ii libstdc++6 10.2.1-6 ii wsjtx-data 2.3.0+repack-2 js8call recommends no packages. js8call suggests no packages.

GTK1.2 version is/was 1.2.10, GTK2.0 version is/was 2.4.14 Xfree86 was 4.1 now it's Xfree86 4.3 What I did, is -Installed pure STABLE system. -upgraded to stable/testing. -Installed gtk2.0 and the libraries needed -Installed some program which uses the gtk2.0 libraries. It's identical which, since all produced the same error message, even which I've tried locally compile. Problem was that the Xfree86 (server and the base) package did not got upgraded. That's all. Bug#295648: GTK2.0 upgrade
package: gtk2.0-dev and friends version: 2.4.14 I was using stable with gtk1.2-dev, and I've upgraded my system to a mixed stable/testing system as it is described in the APT-HOWTO to upgrade to gtk2.0. Everything was fine, but I could not run programs which was linked to GTK2.0. It said: /usr/bin/gftp-gtk: relocation error: /usr/lib/libpangoft2-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: pango_font_description_get_size_is_absolute I fixed this with upgrading the X system too *MANUALY*. Namely the xfree86 and xserver-xfree86 packages, if I remember well. These were NOT in the dependency tree. I don't know which package needs it (gtk2.0 or pango or atk or ?), but it's needed.
