Bug#866399: prometheus-node-exporter systemd unit not enabled by default

2017-06-29 Thread Luca Bigliardi
Package: prometheus-node-exporter
Version: 0.13.0+ds-1

The prometheus-node-exporter debian package does not seem to enable the
systemd unit by default. When prometheus-node-exporter is installed the
first time it starts just fine, but then it does not restart upon a reboot
because its systemd unit is not enabled.

Could you please enable the systemd when the package is installed?
dh-systemd should already do this for you by default.

Thank you,

Luca

Bug#837756: prometheus-alertmanager: Please provide prometheus-alertmanager-dev

2016-09-14 Thread Luca Bigliardi
Package: prometheus-alertmanager
Severity: wishlist

prometheus-alertmanager can be configured send alerts to a generic webhook
receiver:
https://prometheus.io/docs/alerting/configuration/#webhook-receiver-

To unmarshal the JSON message, a webhook receiver implemented in Go should
(re)use
the WebhookMessage structure defined in the
github.com/prometheus/alertmanager/notify package.

The prometheus-alertmanager debian source package should provide a
prometheus-alertmanager-dev package, so a webhook receiver in Go can be
packaged for debian without having to do vendoring of prometheus-alertmanager.

Please create prometheus-alertmanager-dev .

See https://github.com/prometheus/alertmanager/issues/505 for more details.

Bug#748293: O: frei0r

2014-05-15 Thread Luca Bigliardi
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi all,

I no longer have the time to maintain the frei0r video effects plugins
( https://packages.debian.org/source/sid/frei0r ).

A while ago the Debian Multimedia Maintainers team asked me if it was ok for
them to step up in the package maintenace. I replied to them saying that I was
more than happy if they did, but as of today the package is still in an
abandoned state.

The frei0r developers contacted me privately asking me some help in unblocking
frei0r's package state as the upstream is way ahead of the latest packaged
version. I don't have time to dedicate to the package so the only reasonable
thing that I can do is to orphan the package, hoping that someone will pick it
up.

Regards,

Luca

file descriptors inherited from their parent.

Why the logfile is opened more than once in some processes and stdout is left
opened even if they log?

This is slightly unrelated but, why three processes are needed for each
contact?

Bug#550506: freej: Doesn't need xulrunner-dev to build

 is something else wrong, but certainly not that.

No, upstream is not doing the right thing because it puts stable in
pkg-config but it installs headers in unstable, have a look at this bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500645

So as a workaround freej upstream checks for libxul-embedding-unstable
otherwise it will break when compiling on a non mangled/patched xulrunner.

Bug#550506: freej: Doesn't need xulrunner-dev to build

2009-10-10 Thread Luca Bigliardi
On Sat, Oct 10, 2009 at 07:18 PM, Mike Hommey wrote:

Hi Mike!

 freej only really needs mozilla-js to build. Here is a small patch to
 configure.ac (and control file) to remove the need for a xulrunner-dev
 build dependency.

Are you sure this patch works also for other distros/oses
(gentoo/fedora/freebsd)?

Last time I checked (xulrunner 1.9.0) it didn't work because FreeJ was
looking for some includes which in debian are found in
/usr/include/mozjs (copied there when the binary package is built), but
in other distributions are in /usr/include/xulrunner-1.9/unstable (the
make install official path).

From a quick check to xulrunner 1.9.1 source package it seems like the
situation didn't change because debian/rules still contains the
following lines:

cp -Lr dist/include/js debian/tmp/usr/include/mozjs
find debian/tmp/usr/include/mozjs -type f -printf %P\\n | while read f; do \
file=$$(echo debian/tmp/usr/include/xulrunner-$(BASE_VERSION)/*/$$f); \
rm $$file; \
ln -s /usr/include/mozjs/$$(basename $$f) $$file; \
done

Can you explain me why xulrunner upstream has not been patched to reflect
these copies?
Some months ago I've tried to ask what's the direction/policy for these
includes but I didn't receive any reply:
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.embedding/browse_thread/thread/d48f1e8aec5734d0

I'd prefer to see the changes done by xulrunner debian packages in its
upstream than to add an exception to my package to follow another
exception.

Bug#549446: libresample1-dev: no pkg-config support upstream, why?

2009-10-03 Thread Luca Bigliardi
Package: libresample1-dev
Version: 0.1.3-3
Severity: normal

Hi,
I've seen that libresample1-dev offers pkg-config support, which is a good
thing. Unfortunately I've also seen that upstream libresample doesn't have
pkg-config support, so it's likely other distributions/platforms don't offer
pkg-config support for libresample. This means a software build system cannot
rely on pkg-config check for libresample, making debian's pkg-config enable
version kinda useless..

Why upstream has no pkg-config in libresample?
Did you contact them? What did they say?

Thank you,

Luca

Bug#546590: hping3: incorrect data size check for UDP

2009-09-14 Thread Luca Bigliardi
Package: hping3
Version: 3.a2.ds2-4
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,
it seems hping3, when working in udp mode, checks the size passed to
--data option with the size of a tcp header.

The attached patch should fix the problem using UDPHDR_SIZE when udp
mode is set, otherwise using TCPHDR_SIZE.

Please can you forward this patch upstream? Many parts of their website
seem down so I was not able to checkout latest sources and send a proper
patch to them.

Thank you,

Bug#536204: gnuplot-doc: wrong example for String variables, macros, and command line substitution

In /usr/share/doc/gnuplot-doc/html/String_005fvariables.html
the following example doesn't work:
filename = mydata.inp
lines = ` wc --lines @filename | sed s/ .*// `

The output for me is:

gnuplot filename = test.txt
gnuplot lines = ` wc --lines @filename | sed s/ .*// `
wc: @filename: No such file or directory

gnuplot lines =

The right way to do it seems this one instead (which is
useless for the purpose of the example):

gnuplot filename = test.txt
gnuplot lines = system(sprintf(wc --lines %s | sed 's/ .*//', filename))

Bug#526634: [frei0r-plugins] conflicts with frei0r 1.1.22-0.2

Hi Petr and Christian,

frei0r is an unofficial debian package from debian-multimedia (and is the
first package upon which I based this one)

I think the best way we can handle this is to have in debian-multimedia
for testing and unstable some dummy packages to facilitate the upgrade.

This should be cleaner than a conflict with a non-official package.

Christian, what do you think?

 Any reason for the project for not being hosted on the git repo of
 collab-maint?

Along with the author we keep the debian stuff in a separate branch of
upstream git repository. It's the same approach we're using for other dyne
projects like freej and hasciicam.

Bug#514639: ITP: frei0r -- a minimalistic plugin API for video effects

2009-02-09 Thread Luca Bigliardi

* Package name: frei0r
  Version : 1.1.22
  Upstream Author : Richard ora...@propirate.net
* URL : http://www.piksel.org/frei0r
* License : GPL-2)
  Programming Lang: C, C++
  Description : a minimalistic plugin API for video effects

frei0r is a minimalistic plugin API for video sources and filters. The
behavior of the effects can be controlled from the host by simple
parameters. The intent is to solve the recurring reimplementation or
adaptation issue of standard effects. It is not meant as a generic API
for all kinds of video applications.

Bug#514391: bash: erasedups is ignored if edit-and-execute-command is used and command exits

2009-02-06 Thread Luca Bigliardi
Package: bash
Version: 3.2-4
Severity: normal

Hi,

Using the following settings duplicate entries in history are not
deleted:

$ cat rc
HISTCONTROL=erasedups
HISTFILE=hist
EDITOR='sed -i '\''s/$/ ; exit/'\'
INPUTRC=input
$ cat input
RETURN: edit-and-execute-command

Try to call bash -rcfile rc a few times and type the
same command, then check hist.

If you try to change 'exit' with, say, 'return' erasedups works as it
should.

Bug#495668: [Smartphones-userland] [Debian] DFSG-free sounds

 from http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/94 quite nice too. Unfortunately
 it's under License Art Libre or Free Art License (
 http://artlibre.org/licence/lal/en/ ) and I am not sure if
 debian-legal considers it DFSG free.

Probably it would be easier if Ehma can re-license the (part of) track

Bug#482045: spidermonkey-bin: incorrect version

2008-05-20 Thread Luca Bigliardi
Package: spidermonkey-bin
Version: 1.8.1.14-3
Severity: normal

As you can see I've installed spidermonkey-bin version 1.8.1.14-3, but
smjs says it's at version 1.7.0.

$ smjs -foo
JavaScript-C 1.7.0 2007-10-03
usage: ...

Please can you explain why there's this difference and why you package
spidermonkey from xulrunner sources and not from spidermonkey tarballs
( http://www.mozilla.org/js/spidermonkey/ ) ?
Is the latter project no longer active ?

Many thanks!

On Tue, May 20, 2008 at 08:33 PM, Mike Hommey wrote:

 It's the javascript version, the package version is unrelated.

This is the point: I think it's a bit strange to have a spidermonkey-bin
package version 1.8.0 which contains spidermonkey 1.6 and a package
version 1.8.1 which contains spidermonkey 1.7..

Every tarball you download through spidermonkey page has a version aligned
with javascript version it contains.

We're used to see python 2.5.2 containing python 2.5.2, not 2.4.x..

I know this is an annoying thing but people might be confused looking at
package version number (it happens, e.g. I recently had a discussion with
some develpers confused by this weird situation we have).

Bug#392011: Any result of the test?

2008-01-06 Thread Luca Bigliardi
On Sat, Jan 05, 2008 at 03:00 AM, Raúl Sánchez Siles wrote:

   Did you have any result upon the proposals I gave you?

I'm sorry but I haven't obtained good results: it wasn't a problem of
suspend process itself but only of klaptopdaemon not calling the right
script to perform suspend.

Anyway right now, with new intel video driver no longer requiring
915resolution, the problem should disappear.

I'm sorry if I did not followed this bug but I removed klaptopdaemon from
my machine and so I forgot this report.

 No problem. I admit that I would probably also ignore the README.Debian
 of WOrdNet when searching information about grind. If you have any idea
 where this could be documented more sanely I'm open for suggestions.

IMHO that is the good place. Once there will be the wordnet-grind package
I think the problem won't persist.

 Well, so your suggestion would be: Add a binary package grind out of
 the current Debian source tarball which contains /usr/bin/grind and
 /usr/share/man/man1/grind.1 ? I think this can be easily done and
 would not really do any harm.

Yes, that's good.

 My concern was just about the huge database source.

Possibly you can leave it out of grind package and add a script to fetch
it directly from upstream.

 If you acknowledge that this would fully close the issue of the bug I'll
 go for it in the next couple of days.

Perfect.

Thank you,

Luca

 Yes, that's good.

 OK.

Oh and maybe you should also check the consistency of manual pages.
E.g.: in SEE ALSO section of wnintro(5) there is a reference to
wninput(5WN) which does not exist.
Maybe it's also good to rename manual sections from #WN to # (e.g. from
5WN to 5).

Quite annoying, I know, but documentation matters :)

Thanks again,

Hi,
when kernel 2.6.22 will enter unstable kvm-18 won't work.

kvm-18 expects KVM_API_VERSION == 9
but 2.6.22 will provide at least KVM_API_VERSION == 12.

Please update to a newer version.

I think that can be useful add support for hibernate.

For example in my workstation i have software suspend 2 and hibernate
configured, so i've made an ugly hack to /etc/apcupsd/apccontrol :

Maybe a proper implementation is to have a dohibernate to call if a
flag in apcupsd.conf is set.

TIA for your attention

Bug#334732: synaptics X driver support for powerpc laptops

2005-10-20 Thread Luca Bigliardi
On Thu, Oct 20, 2005 at 11:24 AM, Horms wrote:

 Can anyone comment on the progression of these patches into upstream?

AFAIK there's actually no progress, i sent a mail to INPUT and POWER MAC
maintainers (respectively Vojtech Pavlik and Benjamin Herrenschmidt),
but no one replied.

 As a rule, only upstream accepted patches are put into Debian.

I've read the policy in the wiki as mentioned above. I totally agree
with this!
I haven't thought about before reporting the bug, i'm sorry.

I'm trying to send other messages to maintainers and also to lkml.
Help is appreciated :)

Bug#334732: synaptics X driver support for powerpc laptops

 I pinged benh, but he is busy fixing some ppc SMP issue right now, so didn't
 put much attention. I still feel that this should be more related to the INPUT
 folk than the powerpc side though.

I'll try with input mailing list.

 Generally, having people on lkml and such ignore patches is something which
 makes me reconsider the only upstream patches policy :)

Well, it's not up to me to decide, but i think the current policy is good.

Maybe you can provide a pkg like linux-debian-patches-nonmainstream-X.Y.Z
(and respective image/source/headers/whatever packages) as an alternative
to the official kernel. This should be good enought for people that cannot
appreciate the beauty of a distribution with vanilla kernels.
