Bug#1054875: /usr/bin/add-apt-repository: python3-launchpadlib required for apt-add-repository

I understand that adding a PPA is not a "supported" operation in Debian, but at
the very least a hint for the needed package should be displayed.

Since we're going with 4.19+ in Buster, if we can't find a config  that
work in both >/<4.18, would it make sense to ship the config that'll
work in the shipped kernel?

Invoking with ``thunderbird --start-debugger-server`` and using the
Firefox WebIDE's remote debugger, I see the following in the error
console when opening up Thunderbird's error console:

Error: Module

It appears that #909046 was not in fact fixed. Some instances of the
removal were commented out, but others remain:

Bug#905407: ssh-keygen: Use new OpenSSH key format by default

2018-08-04 Thread Luke W Faraone
Package: openssh-client
Version: 1:7.7p1-3
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/bin/ssh-keygen

The bcrypt KDF key format was released as part of OpenSSH 6.5 in 2014.
It provides greater resistance against brute-force attacks on encrypted
private keys, and is now widely compatible.

We should use it by default. I'm happy to work on a patch if it would be
accepted.

Bug#895703: Continuous LIBUSB_ERROR_NO_DEVICE in journal after removing a Yubikey 4 (USB-C)

2018-04-14 Thread Luke W Faraone
Package: pcscd
Version: 1.8.23-2
Severity: normal

Dear maintainer,

This appears to be similar symptoms to bug #459827, but reporting
separately, as this has nothing to do with PCMCIA.

After removing a Yubikey 4 (USB-C) from my XPS 13 9360, syslog is filled
with errors like this about once a second:

```
Apr 04 11:04:56 zinc pcscd[4147]:  ccid_usb.c:849:WriteUSB() write
failed (3/2): -4 LIBUSB_ERROR_NO_DEVICE
Apr 04 11:04:57 zinc pcscd[4147]: 0017 ifdwrapper.c:364:IFDStatusICC() Card
not transacted: 617
```

This specific issue happened after a resume-from-suspend when the device
was removed between suspend and resume, but in general it happens any
time I remove the USB-C device.

This does not occur with a Yubikey Neo (USB 2.0).

I was also able to replicate it on a fellow developer's XPS 13 9350.
Please let me know if there is any other debugging information I can
provide.

Cheers,
Luke Faraone

And of course, that patch was bogus. Attached is a orrected patch. I
intend to upload this to DELAYED/5 once I have a chance to test on real
hardware. Below from a VM:

# dpkg -L libssl1.1 | grep engine | head -n 1

# dpkg -L libengine-pkcs11-openssl | grep /pkcs11.so

# openssl engine pkcs11 -t

Bug#846548: patch for #846548

Sadly not even a rebuild will fix it. The issue is that debian/rules
specifies:

  OPENSSL_VERSION := $(shell pkg-config --modversion openssl | sed
"s/[a-z]$$//")

Which, in current unstable, resolves to:
  # pkg-config --modversion openssl | sed "s/[a-z]$//"
  1.1.0

Yet, ``openssl`` tries to find engines in
``/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/engines-1.1/``:

  # openssl engine foo
  139873873437888:error:25066067:DSO support routines:dlfcn_load:could
not load the shared
library:../crypto/dso/dso_dlfcn.c:113:filename(/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/engines-1.1/foo.so):
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/engines-1.1/foo.so: cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory
  139873873437888:error:25070067:DSO support routines:DSO_load:could not
load the shared library:../crypto/dso/dso_lib.c:161:
  139873873437888:error:260B6084:engine routines:dynamic_load:dso not
found:../crypto/engine/eng_dyn.c:414:
  139873873437888:error:2606A074:engine routines:ENGINE_by_id:no such
engine:../crypto/engine/eng_list.c:339:id=foo

This is a change from jessie, where it looks in
``/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/openssl-1.0.0/engines/``.

Attached is a patch to fix the path to the engine directory, and moves
this library back to libssl-dev. (it isn't clear to me from changelog or
git log why the move to 1.1 was originally reverted)

Can you clarify which files specifically are in question?

Just to make sure I understand, the order of operations was:

1. Unicode distributed a project under a non-free license
2. Unicode removed some of those files from the project
3. Unicode changed the license of the project to be DFSG-free

Bug#744741: Where to ship PySide's egg-info?

2017-01-22 Thread Luke W Faraone
I've prepared a version[1] of PySide that includes the egg-info files needed in
the ``python-pyside`` binary package, by incorporating pyside-setup[2] and
calling ``python setup/setup.py egg-info``.

Is this the right approach? It means we'll only ship this metadata in the main
``python-pyside`` package — installing just one submodule would be
insufficient.

So for an application like ``yubikey-piv-manager``, the dependency would need to
change from ``python-pyside.qtgui, python-pyside.qtnetwork`` to ``python-
pyside``, thus greatly increasing the install size.

we can do about this. I can't reproduce the failure condition. If you

Raising to "serious", because the package dependencies can be resolved
in a way that does not allow the package to be usable. (§3.5)

Attached is a patch that at least fixes the immediate problem of
incorrect dependencies.

Longer-term, I think it is cleanest to do as IPython does, and provide
both an isympy and an isympy3.

This is due to a conditional Conflicts that references an Ubuntu
version.

I've opened a PR to fix this against the package's repository[1], and
attached the patch for convenience.

Subject: [PATCH] Switch to unconditional conflict against `snap`

`snapd` had a conditional conflicts against `snap` that references an Ubuntu version, `2013-11-29-1ubuntu1`.

The package has since moved forward in Debian from that version. Until that Ubuntu-specific patch is merged into Debian's `snap` package, we instead just unconditionally conflict with `snap`.

Closes #826884.

 The bug reappeared with the latest upload, which hasn't acknowledged the
 NMU fixing it...

Apologies; it wasn't commited to the collab-maint VCS, and I forgot to
incorporate it. This will be fixed in -3
