Bug#1014913:

2022-07-19 Thread Marcel Jira
Thank you for the hint, Michael!

It seems to be the bug described here:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/issues/946

Also our IT-department was able to provide a workaround.

We added a script in /etc/ppp/ip-up.d called 0001changeroutes. The content
is

#! /bin/sh -e
ip a del $PPP_LOCAL peer dev ppp0

After making this script executable I was able to connect to the VPN again.

Best

Marcel

Bug#1014913: network-manager: Follow Up: L2TP-VPN still doesn't work (worked with 1.34.0-1)

2022-07-14 Thread Marcel Jira
Package: network-manager
Version: 1.38.2-1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: marcel.j...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

In March 2022 I reported bug #1007899 (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1007899) that prevents me to connect to a L2TP-VPN. Until
version 1.34.0-1 the connection was working.

The problem still couldn't be solved even after updating to

* network-manager 1.38.2-1
* network-manager-l2tp 1.20.2-1
* network-manager-l2tp-gnome 1.20.2-1

Also, me and our IT department were able to reproduce this bug with a fresh
installation of Debian Bookworm, Ubuntu 22.04 and Ubuntu 22.10.

The L2TP VPN is provided by a hardware firewall ZYXEL USG60.

I shall be happy to provide additional information in order to get this problem
resolved.

Bug#1007899: network-manager: L2TP-VPN doesn't work with network-manager version 1.36.2-1 (works with 1.34.0-1)

2022-03-18 Thread Marcel Jira
Package: network-manager
Version: 1.36.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: upstream
X-Debbugs-Cc: marcel.j...@gmail.com

I used to connect to a VPN using network-manager-l2tp and network-manager-l2tp-
gnome.

The connection recently stopped working (see log below). A connection is
established but terminates quickly after logging a series of "Received out of
order control packet" messages. Also the connection is not usable (no ping to a
machine in the vpn possible) in the short amount of time the connection is
present.

Downgrading the packages "libnm0" and "network-manager" to version 1.34.0-1
solves the problem and makes the VPN usable again.

A similar problem was described at
* https://forum.manjaro.org/t/stable-update-2022-03-14-kernels-kde-libreoffice-
kodi-qt5-mozilla-networkmanager-pipewire/105493/53?page=3

A big shoutout to eggy and michaa7 in the German Debian forum who helped me
find a temporary solution for the problem:

Dear Maintainer,

I was not able to install freecad (0.14.3702+dfsg-3) on any of my Debian

I tried to run the command

apt-get install freecad

What I got was the following:

Bug#734057: broadcom-sta-dkms: Cannot connect to certain wifis

2014-01-03 Thread Marcel Jira
Package: broadcom-sta-dkms
Version: 6.30.223.141-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
With the actual release of broadcom-sta-dkms I am not able to connect to
certain wifis including my private home wifi.

As far as I remember, I didn't have this problem some time ago when I used a
previous kernel and possibly also a previous version of broadcom-sta-dkms.

My wifi card is a BCM4313 in a Thinkpad Edge E130 and the questionable router I
try to connect to is a TP-Link TL-WDR3600 with OpenWRT installed. Other devices
can connect to this router without any problem.

I didn't find much debug information however, I attach a part of
/var/log/kern.log:

Bug#701127: grub-efi: Not booting except when a CD is inserted or when entered BIOS previously

2013-02-21 Thread Marcel Jira
Package: grub-efi
Version: 1.99-26
Severity: important
Tags: d-i

I installed Debian Wheezy amd64 using the beta4 installer but also installed
all updates since.

When I boot my computer, after grub the screen stays black. To reboot the
computer I have to use the power or reset switch (a short button-press is
enough in this case). This also happens when I try to boot to recovery mode.

I re-installed debian just a few days ago. The previous installation was also
performed with the Wheezy amd64 beta4 installer. I had the same issues,
however, after a while they disappeared. I thought the solution was caused by
installing some updates and/or the package "firmware-realtek" (see here:
http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/64370/system-boots-only-with-cd-
inserted) but in the meantime I am convinced that it was simply magic ;-)

What may be interesting:
The described boot-problem does *not* happen when
(1) a data CD is inserted in the drive while the computer is booting (while the
ASUS logo is displayed)
or
(2) I go to BIOS before I try to boot

Here is some more information on my system:

Bug#650797: evince: Add the Possibility to show a Twitter Wall in Fullscreen mode

2011-12-03 Thread Marcel Jira
Package: evince
Version: 3.2.1-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

I would find it very convenient if there was the possibility to show a Twitter
Wall in Fullscreen mode of evince.

When holding a presentation, it sometimes can be useful to give the audience
the possibility to comment your talk (and your slides) without interrupting
you. Tweeting would be a perfect way to do this.

Maybe there is a way to add a column borrowed by Gwibber on the left or right
of the fullscreen.
