Bug#766169: libEGL.so.1 don't get installed

2014-10-22 Thread Martin Hans

Hi,

I have installed nvidia-driver 340.46-2, but not libegl1-nvidia.

The new glx-alternatives fixes the issue for me.

kwin and GTK based stuff is running again without any obvious problems.
I only had to restore my KDE config out of a backup, because it had been
massively damaged during login without running kwin.

Best Regards & Thanks for the fast fix

Martin Hans

Bug#766169: libEGL.so.1 don't get installed

2014-10-21 Thread Martin Hans

Hi everyone,

I can confirm this issue, too.
Only difference - my platform is still i386.

On the one hand it renders KDE quite unusable and on the other hand I
get many segmentation faults for GTK related stuff when I try to use
other window managers instead of KDE, which renders them quite unusable,
too. As side effect I lost some parts of my KDE configuration
(desktop/folder settings configuration) during first login without
running kwin.

Hence I added a suitable link as quick and dirty workaround to get KDE
up again.

Best Regards

Martin

Bug#643922: iceweasel: XML error on "Show All Bookmarks"

2011-10-01 Thread Martin Hans
Hi,

thanks. That's the reason. Purging the old package iceweasel-l10n-en-us
resolved the problem.

But I should mention, that my debian system was totally up-to-date
before I wrote the bug report. There where no unsresolved dependencies
or other inconsistencies in the packaging system and the related package
was not set to hold. Iceweasel 6.x itself was no longer installed.
So I never expected that the automatic upgrade from 6.x to 7.x left some
conflicting packages in my system. In my opinion the language pack should
be dropped automatically during installation of iceweasel 7.x.

Best Regards

Martin

Bug#619171: Update & Solution

2011-03-26 Thread Martin Hans
Hi,

I found the problem.

Hence the issue is very, very strange and probably only affects me, I suggest
closing it without any further investigation.

Description:

All tested KDE applications worked fine in Gnome, only starting K3b produced
following message:
"k3b: error while loading shared libraries: libGLU.so.1: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory".
So I looked in /usr/lib what's going on, but there was no libGLU.so.1!
A "dpkg --list | grep libglu1" produced:
ii libglu1-mesa 7.10-4
ii libglu1-mesa-dev 7.10-4
Because there was no bug report about missing libGLU I did a
"apt-get --reinstall install libglu1-mesa".
Afterwards the libGLU.so.1 was back and now my KDE is starting without
any problems since two days. No more segmentation faults.

I don't know who delete the lib. I did nothing manual in /usr/lib,
all my packages are up-to-date and there are no broken packages.

So it's just strange and I can't reproduce how my system came into
this state.

Best Regards

Martin

Bug#619171: kdebase-bin: kcminit_startup segmentation fault

2011-03-21 Thread Martin Hans
Package: kdebase-bin
Version: 4:4.4.5-2
Severity: important

Hi,

since the last package updates I'm no longer able to login to KDE anyway.
KDE dies at initialization.

I found following lines in the syslog:

 kded4[3743]: segfault at 54 ip 4100a80c sp bff97374 error 4 in
ld-2.11.2.so[4100+1b000

ld-2.11.2.so[4100+1b000]

Even if I try to login a complete new and empty user KDE dies in the same way.
If I login to Gnome everything works and I can use all KDE applications without
any problems.
I already installed the new Qt packages from incoming, without any effect.

Bug#526430: More information required.

2009-05-31 Thread Martin Hans
Hello,

please close the bug. I'm no longer able to reproduce the bug.

Yesterday I removed my whole kmail configuration. I wanted to test,
if it works, if I use only one IMAP account. Dropping the whole
configuration was the only way to test this, because I was not
able to start kmail anyway.

With the new configuration I can use both IMAP accounts and have no
more crashes. Even copying back the old configuration produces no
more crashes. The IMAP accounts are not the reason for the problems.
They where fully accessible by Thunderbird the whole time. I applied
no updates to the system since serveral days.

If the problem occurs again I will report it against the KDE bugzilla.

Best Regards

Martin

Hi,

starting with the upgrade of Debian SID to KDE 4 the mouse double-click

It seems that all word characters configured in the advanced dialog (Mouse

Bug#441157: autofs & nis - wrong startup order

2007-09-06 Thread Martin Hans
Package: autofs
Version: 4.1.4-13

Hi,

If using the autofs and nis package together, the rc2.d startup order is wrong.
S19nis is started after S19autofs, hence the automount of home directories
specified by nis will not work after boot.

A simple rename of S19autofs (i. e. S20autofs) fixes the issue.

Bug#430418: Successful build, too

2007-07-05 Thread Martin Hans
Hi,

sorry for my late reply. Your answer never arrived
at my mail account. probably I should look for a new
provider.

My kernel is a vanilla kernel built with make-kpkg.

I build the module with:

export KSRC=/usr/src/linux
export KVERS=2.6.21.5
debian/rules binary_modules

At the time a wrote the bug report I tried three times
to build the module and always got the reported error.
Today I tried to build a fourth time and it was
successful.

Hence I can only guess that some other debian updates
fixed another problem not really related to the nvidia
module. So please close the bug and excuse the useless
bug report.

By the way thank you for packaging the nvidia source.
I'm using the nvidia module since several years and
I'm really happy with it.

Best Regards

Martin

2007-05-28 Thread Martin Hans
Hi,

I sent a level 10 log to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 3 weeks ago
(Mon, May 7, 2007 10:10). I not sent it to
[EMAIL PROTECTED], because I don't know if I can send
attachments to the mailing list. This time the mail goes
to [EMAIL PROTECTED], too.

The version used for the log is the latest one at the time
I made the logs.

I will try a reproduction with the latest release tomorrow.

Now my last mail again:

Bug#387076: Bug is still there

2007-04-25 Thread Martin Hans
Hi,

today I tested 3.0.24-6 and the bug is still there.
The machine is now a fully up-to-date and configured etch machine.

The test constellation:

A fresh booted Windows 2000 with all Microsoft Updates.
After startup I connect to some shares on the samba server,
which require an user and password (TargitShare & ProjectShare), but have
no "valid users" restriction. These shares work without any problem.
Afterwards I try to connect to a "valid users" share with the same user
ans password without success (OfficeShare) - the password dialog of windows
just reappears.

If I use samba 3.0.22-1 everything works fine with excatly the same
configuration and test procedure (tested today, too).

The "valid users" are NIS users on the samba server
.
NIS works:

> id martinh
> uid=507(martinh) gid=100(users) groups=100(users),110(gleitung),105(cvs)

The configuration (dropped some shares):

Bug#387076: samba: valid users are no longer accepted

Hallo,

I tested the new packages 3.0.23d-1.
The bug ist still there. Every share using the "valid users"
configuration rejects all users. Shares without "valid users"
are working.

Bug#387076: Seems to have been fixed

2006-10-22 Thread Martin Hans
Hallo,

I tried version 3.0.23c-2 of the samba package and the problems
are still there.
All users configured with the "valid users" option are ignored
and produce log messages like:

user 'martinh' (from session setup) not permitted to access this share

Hence I went back to the last working version 3.0.22-1

Please tell me if I can do anything to trace this issue.

Cheers

Martin

Bug#343227: linux-image-2.6.12-1-amd64-k8-smp: clock running much too fast

2005-12-13 Thread Martin Hans
Package: linux-image-2.6.12-1-amd64-k8-smp
Version: 2.6.12-10
Severity: minor

Regarding my own installation (bug) report #341096
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=341096)
I just want to file my kernel issue directly to the related linux-2.6 package
to clarify if it is a bug or not and if the solution is the proper way
to handle the issue.

Here the iimportant part my original installation report:

I changed to a smp kernel and got problems with the clock running much
too fast. I found some kernel options in some forums which solved the
problem:
notsc no_timer_check

http://groups.google.de/group/linux.debian.ports.x86-64/browse_frm/thread/4aae438ff566835a/d3db60cab325acc6?lnk=st&q=linux+amd+dual+core+clock&rnum=6&hl=de#d3db60cab325acc6

---

I'm not sure if this is the correct solution for the clock problem.
But I have a productive system working fine since two weeks with the
notsc no_timer_check options.

Bug#334698: htdig & amd64

2005-12-13 Thread Martin Hans
Hi,

I can confirm the htdig and amd64 problems, too.
Using a 2.6.12-1-amd64-k8-smp kernel on testing, the amd64 htdig
and htmerge produces a database > 1GB, but amd64 htsearch
cannot find anything. Even strace shows no problems...
The way working for me, was using the 32bit htdig, htmerge
and htsearch binaries. Any other combination produces some errors.

Comments/Problems:

The network setup worked very fine. Especially the hostname and domainname
detection through dns.

I changed to a smp kernel and got problems with the clock running much
too fast. I found some kernel options in some forums which solved the problem:
notsc no_timer_check

http://groups.google.de/group/linux.debian.ports.x86-64/browse_frm/thread/4aae438ff566835a/d3db60cab325acc6?lnk=st&q=linux+amd+dual+core+clock&rnum=6&hl=de#d3db60cab325acc6

I added two SATA disks configured as RAID 1. After manual
configuration with mdadm the RAID was working like expected. After
reboot it disappeared. I had to add "sata_nv" to /etc/modules
manually to solve this.
