Bug#557317: [pidgin] when deleting .purple .gaim gets automatically restored

2009-11-21 Thread Martin Ketzer
Package: pidgin
Version: 2.6.3-1
Severity: minor

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
I had a problem with my pidgin, it would not log in and constantly say "waiting
for network
connection" (or something similar). So i tried to delete .purple, which is the
documented
settings-directory. Annoyingly after a restart of pidgin the (broken) settings
are there again.
After some thinking and using of "find" I found out, that i had a
.gaim-directory with a similar
content. After deleting that too, everything was fine. I think it would be
advisable to document
this behaviour.

Bug#422401: adding a Custom Application Laucher to a gnome-panel results in an "invisible" entry

Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.18.1-1+b1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
When adding a Custom Application Laucher to a gnome-panel without
choosing an icon results in an practically invisible entry. I realized
this because i couldn't move other panel-entrys above the place where
the newly created entry should have been. If i am very patient and can
hold my mouse very still i can "catch" the icon - which is apparently as
large as one pixel - and remove it (or add an icon).

Bug#421909: [Utnubu-maintainers] Bug#421909: gnome-sudoku does not start

2007-05-02 Thread Martin Ketzer

Hi,

The dpkg -L matches:

dpkg -L gnome-sudoku | grep -i foot
/usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-sudoku/footprints.png

The file is there too.
And the changelog:
gnome-sudoku (0.7.1-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release (Closes: #384670, #378710).
  * debian/patches/defaults-py.patch: updated.
  * debian/rules:
- Replace python-distutils include with autotools due to upstream
  changes.
- Add dh_pysupport call now required since I dropped
  python-distutils include.

 -- Gustavo Franco <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mon, 23 Apr 2007 03:40:08 -0300

it seems gnome-sudoku isn't looking at the right place? could it be
something that is configured incorrectly on my side? Additionally it
looks for a big "F" in the footprints.svg.

apt-file search prints:

 apt-file search Footprints
gnome-sudoku: usr/share/gnome-sudoku/Footprints.svg

respectively:
 apt-file search footprints
gnome-sudoku: usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-sudoku/footprints.png
(...)

thx,
Martin

PS: removing, purging and reinstalling did not change anything

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your report. There's something weird going on though, it
seems that our package version and dependencies match, but the package
content doesn't. Could you please paste "dpkg -L gnome-sudoku" output
on your reply to this message with the last changelog
(/usr/share/doc/gnome-sudoku/changelog.Debian.gz) entry?

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
gnome-sudoku does not start an prints the following on the command-line:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/games/gnome-sudoku", line 7, in ?
from gnome_sudoku.gnome_sudoku import start_game
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/gnome_sudoku/gnome_sudoku.py",

It should be:
$ dpkg -L gnome-sudoku|grep -i footprints
/usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-sudoku/footprints.png

Btw, there's no /usr/share/gnome-sudoku and
/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/gnome_sudoku/

Bug#415176: rhythmbox restarts on close unless doing "kill" on the command line

Hi,

hm, no real news. i had the same bug on a different computer (my
notebook) which has essentially the same configuration. but with the
"0.10.0-1"version i have no problems. i can't reproduce the behavior
now, not with the 0.9.6-9 nor with 0.10.0-1 (haven't got the 0.9.8-3 any
more). so i guess it can be closed unless someone else has a problem.

hm, i see nothing out of the ordinary. problem is, that the "exit" of
rhythmbox starts a new instance (without -d). but i tried a few things.

1. mv /usr/bin/rhythmbox /usr/bin/rhythmbox.orig
and execute "rhythmbox.orig"
results in rhythmbox exiting normally without restart

2. write a shell-script named "rhythmbox" that does execute
"rhythmbox.orig -d" and pipes the output into a file
but that results again in rhythmbox exiting normally without restart
(and nothing interesting in the log again).

after that i renamed the original rhythmbox to it's usual name the
restarting occurs again. odd...

Yes, I'm quite curious myself to figure out what is causing this.

The next time you close rhythmbox and the restart happens, can you run
this?

cat /proc/$(pidof rhythmbox)/environ

Maybe it can give a clue as to what is starting rhythmbox again. Be sure

to scan the output for any personal information before you mail it.

here it is (i don't think it actually contains secret information, at
least as far as i'm concerned):

and second:
one time when i closed rhythmbox it had a bug-buddy-window popping up,
claiming some kind kind of crash happened. unfortunately i clicked it
away before realizing what it was and it wasn't reproduceable. so it may
be completely unrelated. on the other hand maybe gnome automatically
restarts crashed programs (i hope not, at least not without asking first)

i have it since the upgrade from 0.9.6 to 0.9.8 (the versions should
have been in the original report?)

Hi,

Do you get any error messages if you launch rhythmbox from a terminal?

yes, this:
(rhythmbox:8341): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Unable to start mDNS browsing:
MDNS service is not running

Are your sure you haven't set rhythmbox as "restart" in the session
preferences in GNOME?
no, i haven't, "Style" is set to "normal". but maybe it's got something
to do with gnome 2.16?
btw. a "close" (which results in a restart) gives me a new promt again
after printing:
(rhythmbox:8413): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Unable to stop mDNS browsing:
MDNS service is not running

Bug#412810: save-doesn't work after redo

2007-02-28 Thread Martin Ketzer
Package: kdevelop
Version: 4:3.4.0-2
Severity: grave

i save a file or several files and compile... i realize i want to test
the old version again - so "undo" and save, compile - everything ok so
far. now i redo (the "not-saved-icon" appears) i save and the icon
disappears - the problem is: it didn't save! i have to do some arbitrary
change to get kdevelop to save the file correctly. this certainly is
very annoying and could lead to the loss of the changes in the affected
files

PS: sorry for filing this bug under etch although i found it in
unstable. (reportbug doesn't work there) So everything under System
Information could be wrong

Bug#412108: kdevelop should suggest kdebase-kio-plugins

2007-02-23 Thread Martin Ketzer
Package: kdevelop

kdevelop should mention somewhere that you have to install kdebase-kio-plugins
to be able to view manpages/documentation in kdevelop. Non-KDE-users certainly
haven't got it installed per default.

The specification of UUID=... in fstab does not wor for ntfs-partitions,
neither does the mount -U ... - it claims "no such partition found" -

reiser- and vfat-partitions, which can be mounted by their uuid without

2007-01-27 Thread Martin Ketzer
Package: kdevelop
Version: 4:3.3.5-1
Severity: normal

The dependencies of Kdevelop should include konsole (and perhaps other
programs included in kde) This is important if one uses for example gnome and
kdevelop without having kde installed.
An other option would be is the option "Terminal Emulation" under
"Configure Kdevelop->General" would actually work (it's greyed out and not
editable)
It would additionally be usefull if kdevelop would give an usefull error
message if something like subversion-support isn't usable (because
kdesvn-kio-plugin isn't installed)

Bug#382993: amarok depends on udev/hotplug

2006-08-14 Thread Martin Ketzer
Package: amarok
Severity: normal

amarok depends on libnjb5 (why? is it necessary to own a creative blah
to listen to music?) which depends on udev/hotplug. I don't need any of
them to run an audioplayer.
