Bug#780193: RFA: syrep -- A generic file repository synchronization tool

2015-03-10 Thread Marvin Stark
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Due to lack of time and not using this package anymore, I'm no longer
interested in maintaining this package
I request an adopter for the package.

Package description:
A generic file repository synchronization tool
 syrep is a generic file repository synchronization tool. It may be used to
 synchronize large file hierarchies bidirectionally by exchanging patch
files.
 Syrep is truely peer-to-peer, no central servers are involved.
 Synchronizations between more than two repositories are supported. The
patch
 files may be transferred via offline media, e.g. removable hard disks or
 compact discs.
 .
 Files are tracked by their message digests, currently MD5. The
following file
 operations are tracked in the snapshot files: creation, deletion,
 modification, creation of new hard or symbolic links, renaming. (The
latter is
 nothing more than a new hard link and removal of the old file). syrep
doesn't
 distinguish between soft and hard links. In fact even copies of files are
 treated as the same. Currently, syrep doesn't synchronize file
attributes like
 access modes or modification times.
 .
 Syrep was written to facilitate the synchronization of two large
digital music
 repositories without direct network connection. Patch files of several
 gigabytes are common in this situation.
 .
 Syrep is able to cope with 64 bit file sizes. (LFS)
 .
 Syrep is optimized for speed. It may make use of a message digest cache to
 accelerate the calculation of digests of a whole directory hierarchy

Dear Maintainer,

please move the Homepage header in debian/control to the source section,
so that it also shows up as link on
http://packages.debian.org/source/unstable/sslscan and
http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/sslscan.html

The homepage links related to the binary package are not affected by
this change, because the Homepage header in the source section is also
the default value for non-existent Homepage headers in the binary
section.

Will be fixed in 1.8.2-3 which will be uploaded soon.

BTW, any reason why the SF project is used instead of
https://www.titania-security.com/labs/sslscan?

No special reason I simply used that page because you can directly
download the newest version there. On the titania page you only find
1.8.0 and the hint that the newest version can be found on sourceforge.

 This may be a re-open of a previous bug (387941).

 /etc/init.d/mini-httpd does not know about an alternative placement of the
 pidfile, forced by a /etc/mini-httpd.conf entry. Therefore the stop part
 of the script may fail to actually end the running daemon.

 Since the test for [ -e /var/run/$NAME/pid ] would fail in such a setup,
 the addition of an else branch, with start-stop-daemon --name $NAME
 would fix this, at the expense of a Terminated message that destroys
 the output formatting :(

Bug#485897:

2008-07-14 Thread Marvin Stark
 Hi!

Hi Nelson,

 We are trying to have a newer ImageMagick uploaded to unstable until
 the end of June, but we need your help.

 The new ImageMagick packages are available at experimental, with SONAME
 and package name changes.

 While testing your package kallery we saw that it fails to build with
 the new ImageMagick package. At [1] you can find a patch to fix this.
 Note that the patch might not be the best nor the most correct solution.

 [1]
 http://people.debian.org/~naoliv/misc/imagemagick/transition/patch-kallery.
txt

 What we ask is if it's possible to you verify the correctness of our
 patch, apply it, test your package and upload a new revision of it
 to experimental.

 If you have any doubts you can contact us at
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

the patch is fine and Christoph Berg uploaded a new kallery version to
experimental for me.

 Thank you very much!

 Best regards,
 Nelson

Bug#437932: mini-httpd: CGI output to stderr is transmitted to the client

2007-08-15 Thread Marvin Stark
Tags: confirmed, upstream
thanks

Hi,

thanks for that information. I contacted upstream about this problem.

Regards,

 Package: mini-httpd
 Version: 1.19-3
 Severity: normal

 Hello,

 When running CGI scripts, mini-httpd sends their error output to the
 client.

 It could be handy for a CGI developper to have its error included in the
 generated page, but on the other hand, this can cause problems with some
 CGI scripts. For instance, in some cases, ikiwiki outputs an error
 message containing a blank line before it sends its headers to stdout,
 which confuses the client.
 (see http://ikiwiki.info/bugs/CGI_problem_with_some_webservers/)

 Maybe mini-httpd can redirect script error output to /dev/null by default,
 rather than sending it to the client, in order to avoid such problems?

Hi,

thanks for your bugreport.
mini-httpd doesnt kill the pidfile if it receives a killing signal.
I forwarded this problem to upstream.

Bug#376599: ITP: mini-httpd - small HTTP server

2006-07-03 Thread Marvin Stark
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

mini_httpd is a small HTTP server. Its performance is not great, but for low
or medium traffic sites it's quite adequate. It implements all the basic
features of an HTTP server, including:

* GET, HEAD, and POST methods.
* CGI.
* Basic authentication.
* Security against .. filename snooping.
* The common MIME types.
* Trailing-slash redirection.
* index.html, index.htm, index.cgi
* Directory listings.
* Multihoming / virtual hosting.
* Standard logging.
* Custom error pages.

It can also be configured to do SSL/HTTPS and IPv6.

mini_httpd was written for a couple reasons. One, as an experiment to see just
how slow an old-fashioned forking web server would be with today's operating
systems. The answer is, surprisingly, not that slow - on FreeBSD 3.2,
mini_httpd benchmarks at about 90% the speed of Apache. The other main reason
for writing mini_httpd was to get a simple platform for experimenting with
new web server technology, for instance SSL.

-

I'm going to build this package.

Bug#217333: oopadmin: Cannot import printers or save them

2005-10-20 Thread Marvin Stark
 OK, you've got some minor annoying problems with oopadmin.

 Start off with a new computer with no openoffice previously installed.

 As a normal user, start oopadmin.
   - Attempting to import a new printer type seems to work, but the
 printer does not appear in the list of printer types.
   - After creating the printers and clicking close if you start oopadmin
 the printers are no longer there.
 Root can add new printer types.

The same here, but no one can add printers doesn't matter if root or user.

Bug#220731: openoffice.org: (Writer) Pressing Tab in Save As dialog saves immediately

2005-10-20 Thread Marvin Stark
 When I press Tab in Save As dialog in the file name box, my file is
 saved immediately without asking. This is how I can reproduce this
 behavior:

 1. start OpenOffice.org Writer
 2. write something
 3. File/Save As
 4. write filename
 5. Press Tab. Sometimes nothing happens (cursor doesn't move at all),
 sometimes the file is saved immediately and the dialog is closed.

 If nothing happens in #5, modify the filename and press tab again.
 Adding space in the end of the filename seems to work every time.

 Thanks for checking. Could you also check if this happens in version 2? A
 lot changed in the printing code so my guess is that it is
 fixed-in-experimental

 Thanks
 Chris

Hi,

in version 2 normal user or root user cant select the Add a printer and
Import printers from a StarOffice installation, so they both cant add
printers :/. If you add a PDF Converter or Fax Device they are not on the
