Bug#391394: Upstream package

2006-10-06 Thread Matthew A. Nicholson

Greetings,

The upstream debian package has been updated, and will be uploaded to
sourceforge shortly. The tools/debian directory in the tarball that was
released with this release is broken. In the future we will try to
build upstream deb's from release tarballs. Please review the upstream
debian package before trying to get the released tarball to work correctly.

Bug#370789: totem-gstreamer: Totem Play's DVDs but not with menu support

2006-06-07 Thread Matthew A. Nicholson
Package: totem-gstreamer
Version: 1.4.1-2
Followup-For: Bug #370789

I am seeing this bug as well, although gnome-volume-manager launches
totem and plays a DVD when I insert it inot the drive. If I choose the
play disk option from the Movie menu I get the message outlined in the
previous email.

Note: when gnome-volume-manager launches totem and plays there is no
menu support.

You are speaking to the maintainer, and I know. Sorry, real life
took over.

It is my intention to discard kernel-patch-suspend2 soon and to
publish a proper linux-patch-suspend2 package soon.

Thanks for your help, initramfs support was on my todo list. Now
I need to work on yaird, then debconf integration, then reworking
the way patches are applied, the integrate with hibernate better,
then publish.

Well, if I come across any more things to tweak (found one in relation
to hibernation with the nvidia drivers), I'll send them your way.

Bug#371054: hibernate: initrd-tools mkinitramfs scripts for suspend2

2006-06-06 Thread Matthew A. Nicholson
Package: hibernate
Version: 1.91-2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

This patch adds support for mkinitramfs to create initrd's that allow
resuming. Suspending is rather useless if you cannot resume...

The scripts are taken from
http://wiki.suspend2.net/DistroAndHardwareSetup/Ubuntu_Breezy_Badger and
slightly modified.

As stated in bug 320617, this might go better in a kernel-patch-suspend2
or linux-patch-suspend2 package. But these packages seem to be badly
out of date which is why I am submitting this here.

You still need to compile in support for lzf compression for this to
work.

Bug#347597: vim: Automatically jump to last editing position

2006-01-11 Thread Matthew A. Nicholson
Package: vim
Version: 1:6.4-006+1
Severity: wishlist

I have always wondered why debian's default vimrc did not make vim jump
to the last editing position. Several other distros include this
functionality.

This line from ':help last-position-jump' in the vim online help,
enables this feature.

au BufReadPost * if line("'\"") > 0 && line("'\"") <= line("$") | exe "normal
g'\"" | endif

This would be useful to have in the default vimrc, even if it it
commented out with a description like the 'syntax on' option is now.

Bug#319510: vtwm: Multiple VTWM fixes (starting apps, gdm/kdm/xdm listing, builddeps)

2005-11-08 Thread Matthew A. Nicholson
Hey thanks for fixing this. Not sure why, but on my system when I
compiled it, it needed a file from the selinux dev stuff. The xsessions
stuff makes entries in the GDM and KDM menus. Also you spelled my last
name wrong in the changelog entry (s/M/N/).

Branden Robinson wrote:

I think your recommendation to add a build-dependency on libselinux1-dev is
spurious. There is no source-level dependency on this library, and I can
build the source tree (well, technically, the forthcoming Debian package
release of 5.4.7) just fine in a chroot without it installed.

I'm not sure I'm persuaded yet that adding an entry for vtwm (or twm or
ctwm, for that matter) to /usr/share/xsessions is the right thing to do.

For that matter, I'm not sure what the semantics of that directory, or the
".desktop" files within it, are. It's not something that I can recall
being discussed on the -x list, which would I think be the logical
location.

Thanks very much for your patch. Because the lockup-on-launch bug is
clearly the worst thing here, I'll regard this bug as resolved once a
release of vtwm fixing that is uploaded.

However, feel tree to keep on me about the other things if you're convinced
you're right. :) Generally, one bug report per issue is a good approach.

Bug#336719: Can you reproduce this on 4.5.3-4?

2005-11-06 Thread Matthew A. Nicholson
Yeah. Looks like this bug is not in 4.5.3-4. I did not test it, but
looking at the source it does not look like this version would be
effected by this problem.

4.5.3-4 is the current version in stable and that has a higher
priority for me right now than the version in testing/unstable.

This change got introduced to session.inc after 4.5.3:

 function sess_destroy($key) {
-  db_query("DELETE FROM {sessions} WHERE sid = '$key'");
+  db_query("DELETE FROM {sessions} WHERE sid = '%d'", $key);
 }

... and this is the last change that supposedly fixes the logout
problem.

 function sess_destroy($key) {
-  db_query("DELETE FROM {sessions} WHERE sid = '%d'", $key);
+  db_query("DELETE FROM {sessions} WHERE sid = '%s'", $key);
 }

db_query uses sprintf to replace placeholder expressions if passed
more than one argument and it seems to me that using %s does the same
thing as PHP's string expansion as in 4.5.3.

I have removed version 4.5.3-4 from this bug. If you disagree, feel
free to add it again with a "found" statement to [EMAIL PROTECTED], with a
rationale.

Cheers,
-Hilko

The current version in sarge (w/ security updates) is 4.5.3-4 and from

Can you confirm that this bug exists in 4.5.3-4?

Moreover, merging the PostgreSQL-related issues with this security bug
does _not_ seem to be a good idea to me.

Bug#327420: python2.3-gnome2-extras: [patch] Fix for gtkspell segfault on import bug on AMD64

2005-10-06 Thread Matthew A. Nicholson
Package: python2.3-gnome2-extras
Version: 2.10.0-4
Followup-For: Bug #327420

The bug seems to be caused when strlen dereferences a bogus pointer from
the gtkspell module not null terminating it's tp_methods array. The
attached patch fixes the problem by null terminating the array.

To apply the patch cd to your gnome-python-extras source directory and
run the following command:

cat ../gtkspell_import_fix.diff | patch -p1

That should patch the source.

It appears that the latest CVS HEAD for this package contains a simular
fix.

Package: vtwm
Version: 5.4.6b-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

In the current VTWM package starting an application locks up VTWM. This
is because the current VTWM menu's do not background the applications
and attempt to run them in the foreground. This causes a deadlock in
which the application waits for the window manager to position it's
windows and the window manager waits for the application to finish.

Also the current package is missing some builddeps and other things here
and there.

This patch adds and entry to the gdm menu when VTWM is installed, it
also adds libselinux1-dev as a build dep and fixes the bug above.

Bug#318236: nvidia-glx does not install with new xorg and g++ migrations

It actually should be removed. I'm working on packages that have this
fix plus a number of others.

So then it does not actually need that dep? Any who, glad to know you
are aware of it. :)

The current nvidia-glx package does not install with the new xorg-x11
packages and the recent migration to g++-4.0. The package depends on
xlibmesa-glu (or libglu1) which is replaced by libglu1-xorg which also
provides libglu1c2. If libglu1c2 or lubglu1-xorg is added to the
Depends: list for nvidia-glx then it installs and works fine.

Bug#272805: Partially working

2005-04-15 Thread Matthew A. Nicholson
THis is now partially working on my laptop. The internal mouse/touchpad (ps/2 I
 Think) works correctly in the left-hand configuration, but my external usb
mouse does not, it still functions as a right hand mouse. Maybe this option
only effects the core pointer, if I have a min I will make the usb one the core
pointer and test it.

Also bug #292681 is a dup of this one.
