Every time I tried, I saw I/O errors and my gnome desktop froze, requiring a complete power-cycle to recover. I finally used ext4 with no problems. Could be hardware but the enclusure and drive are both brand new, and I don't know why one would succeed and the other fail. Bug#654973: xorg: screen lock on thinkpad t30 when laptop lid closed
Package: xorg Version: 1:7.5+8+squeeze1 Severity: normal On my thinkpad t30, after installing Debian Squeeze, I configured the power management to only blank the screen when the lid is closed. For some unknown reason there is no do nothing option. When the lid is closed and reopened, the screen displays random garbage and does not recover. A reboot fixes it.
