Hello Emmanuel, could you help me with fixing debian/copyright? In file CommandLine.java, I have found Burt Beckwith, in javadoc of subclass CosineSimilarity. I managed to find blog post sources https://github.com/altamiracorp/blogs.nearinfinity.com/blob/master/seth_schroeder/_posts/2007-12-01-groovy-cosine-similarity-in-grails.html . In blog post sources is standing: ... All code on this page is licensed under the http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0;>Apache 2 license ... Should I include Burt Beckwith in debian/copyright? Debian policy https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#copyright-information, says following: In addition, the copyright file must say where the upstream sources (if any) were obtained, and should include a name or contact address for the upstream authors. This can be the name of an individual or an organization, an email address, a web forum or bugtracker, or any other means to unambiguously identify who to contact to participate in the development of the upstream source code. Burt Beckwith is not directly responsible for picocli. His code was included in picocli sources. And, was also licensed under Apache-2.0. Besides, Burt Beckwith, I have found so far: Copyright: 2017-2018, Remko Popma Copyright: 2017, Jim White Copyright: 2017, Robert Zenz Kind regards, Miroslav Kravec

Bug#907647: ITP: svg-labels -- simple tool for generation of printable labels documents from SVG templates
I intend to package svg-labels on my own. Therefore, I've set the owner to myself. After I'm done, I'll upload it to mentors, and submit a RFS.

Looking at changelog, it was added in: ddccontrol (0.4.2-9) unstable; urgency=low -- ... <...@...> Fri, 01 Jul 2011 14:39:06 +0200 I have no idea, what was intended then. But, I don't consider an application without access to its resources (i2c) devices to be working correctly. >> This will >> change with next release of ddccontrol, where D-Bus daemon is used to perform >> HW access > > That is a much better approach to this sort of controlled privilege > escalation. (Note that I haven't reviewed the specific implementation > here.) Quality of implementation matters, and that's the reason why I'm not rushing a release of the new ddccontrol version. However, it takes much longer, than expected, because I have much less free time now. >> It will get into next Ubuntu release. > > (It didn't get into the next Ubuntu release. Ubuntu bionic contains > a patched version in which Jeremy reapplied the 0.4.2-11 changes to > fix this.) I had in mind 18.10, as it was already after Debian import freeze for 18.04. As I see, this gksu removal is quite a special case, which ignores freeze, and a new debian package version gets pushed anyway. I'll add this pkexec patch on this weekend, and release a new Debian package.
Bug#894175: ddccontrol: Please drop gksu dependency on Ubuntu
Sorry for accidental drop of your changes. Please provide a patch containing your changes. As for gksu, current version of ddccontrol still depends on it. This will change with next release of ddccontrol, where D-Bus daemon is used to perform HW access: https://github.com/ddccontrol/ddccontrol/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md But, the next version wasn't throughly tested, I will test it more. It will get into next Ubuntu release. And, I hope that I'll be able to make more improvements, also. Hello Mourad De Clerck, the official repository for ddccontrol-db has been moved to github: https://github.com/ddccontrol/ddccontrol-db Sorry for the delay, the package wasn't maintained for a long time. Would you like to submit your contribution as GitHub PR? Or, should I add it to git repository (sources) for you? Kind regards, Miroslav Kravec

I have fixed these two issues. The override was already there, in the original package. I have removed it as you suggested. How did you perform diff? I ran following: $ tar -xvf ddccontrol_0.4.3.orig.tar.gz $ tar -xvf ~/Downloads/ddccontrol_0.4.2.orig.tar.gz $ diff ddccontrol-0.4.2 ddccontrol-0.4.3 | wc -l 305 But, there are messages in diff, that some files are not present in latest version: Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: ABOUT-NLS Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: aclocal.m4 Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: ChangeLog Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: config.guess Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: config.rpath Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: config.sub Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: configure Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: depcomp Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: INSTALL Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: install-sh Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: intltool-extract.in Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: intltool-merge.in Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: intltool-update.in Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: ltmain.sh Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: m4 Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: Makefile.in Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: missing Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: mkinstalldirs Only in ddccontrol-0.4.2: README These are mostly generated files, which shouldn't be in original sources. And, some of them probably need some cleanup. However, version 1.0.0 will be released once two major issues are done: * public API (headers, D-Bus) will be finished, and properly documented, * issue with root access/privileges requirement is fixed. > 5. as lintian noticed, debian/copyright now has a formal syntax, > specified by DEP5. no big deal, but you could do a refresh on that > file. decopy is a tool that does this well. I just found that there's --pedantic option to lintian. Well, there are multiple notices, which should be fixed. I'll try to fix them all with next releases. > Once issues 1 and 2 are fixed, I'm happy to upload the package. Great. Based on comments received on IRC (debian-mentors), I have made changes. Increased compat and debhelper version to 11: * debian/compat: increased compatibility level to 11 * debian/control: * increased debhelper dependency version to 11 And, altered changelog (removed dh_makeshlibs version from log): * debian/libddccontrol0.postinst: removed, because ldconfig is called by trigger added by dh_makeshlibs * debian/libddccontrol0.postrm: removed, because ldconfig is called by trigger added by dh_makeshlibs
