Bug#659733: libreoffice: -writer and -calc cannot open/save files with passwords
Package: libreoffice Version: 1:3.4.5-2 1:3.5.0~rc3-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? I want to open a few weeks old password protected file created with libreoffice but get the error dialog "The password is incorrect. The file cannot be opened." * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? open file and entered password * What was the outcome of this action? error message * What outcome did you expect instead? decrypt and open the file. I tested it many time witht he correct password. The I created a new file and wanted to save the new file (local) with a password (e.g. test) and get the error dialog "Error saving the document test: General error. general input/output error." So I cannot open and create a file with a password. Then I tested the version in experimental (1:3.5.0~rc3-1) with the same result that you cannot open and save a password protected file anymore. Tested it on a Debian machine of a co-worker and is reproducable there. Simple testcase: - start lowriter - "save as" - choose "with password" - enter a password two times - OK/Save - you will get an error I cannot open and save password protected libreoffice files anymore. Can you reproduce this? Bug#514855: libpam-mount: faq outdated
Package: libpam-mount Version: 1.9-1 Severity: normal Hello, when I logout as a user the correct mounted cifs mounts are not unmounted. I checked the faq and found: Q. Why are my volumes not being unmounted by pam_mount? I use Debian. A. Ensure that CLOSE_SESSIONS is set to yes in /etc/login.defs, otherwise your volume will not be unmounted upon logging out. I believe this default behavior is a bug and have filed it as Debian bug #163635. The maintainer is Karl Ramm . (Note December 2005: Current maintainer of pam_mount for Debian is Bastian Kleineidam ) ... But the mentioned option in /etc/login.defs says: ... # OBSOLETED ### # # # These options are no more handled by shadow.# # # # Shadow utilities will display a warning if they # # still appear. # # # ### # CLOSE_SESSIONS ... Bug#507865: openoffice.org-writer: OOo 2.4.x openinig OOo 3 files doesn't show text (2.x implements standard wrong)
Package: openoffice.org-writer Version: 1:2.4.1-13 Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss Hello, sadly we found a IMHO bigger problem for the 2.x users which will be in lenny. OOo 2.x implemented the ODF standard wrong which is fixed in OOo 3.0: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=64237 Now the problem is that data exchange from 3.0 to 2.x results in documents with blanked text so the user will not see the data of the text. The problem is reported upstream here: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96878 I hope this explains the problem with details. Because lenny will be shipped with 2.x (looks like) and the world will continue to spread/use 3.0 we will hurt our users with this problem because the OOo 3 files will raise and OOo 2/lenny users cannot open the documents and see text. I hope the problem is clear. The solutions afaik: 1. release OOo 3.0 in lenny :) 2. OOo 2.x needs a patch which fixes the import of OOo > 3.0 files with the correct interpretation of display:text=. Sadly upsteam/a upstream developer wrote in http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96878 that they will not fix it (or tend to this).:( Regards Noèl -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#502970: xserver-xorg-core: please add Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" to Device section of xorg.conf
Package: xserver-xorg-core Version: 2:1.4.2-7 Severity: normal Hello, I'm a happy user of xorg on lenny with the xorg.conf below. I have to add manually the "AccelMethod" line because rotation didn't worked correctly which I reported upstream https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18087 and quickly got the respond that I have to add the missing EXA. To fix the upstream reported bug for Debian for everyone the xorg.conf created by the xorg packages could add the AccelMethod Option. This could be done for many drivers which are reported as solid on http://wiki.x.org/wiki/ExaStatus Thank you. Regards. Bug#502868: kcontrol: cannot configure kde version 4 programs
Package: kcontrol Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-5 Severity: important File: kcontrol Hello, I'm running lenny and on the machine are the kde 3.5.9 packages and some packages with version 4 which are in lenny, too. kdebase-runtime kdebase-runtime-bin-kde4 kdebase-runtime-data kdelibs-bin ... The problem is that kcontrol only configures .kde3 and .kde4 is not handled by kcontrol. The kde-open program (kde4) for example isn't aware of the configured emailclient (icedove instead of kmail) because the path of the configure changes and I need to find how to configure it with an editor. The problem I see is that with the mixture of KDE3 and 4 in lenny the user can use KDE 4 applications but cannot configure them as they would expect. I hope its understandable where I had and see a problem for our users. Regards. Bug#484357: pidgin: jabber.org Account does not work anymore since 2008-05-22
Package: pidgin Version: 2.4.2-2 Severity: important Hello, since ca 2008-05-22 my pidgin does not work with my jabber.org account anymore. It looks like the client connects but no buddies/contacts are displayed. The other accounts (1x ICQ and 2x IRC) are working like before and expected. First I thought it has something to do with a server migration: http://blog.xmpp.org/?p=40 When I use PSI as a client the account works like expected. The password is OK. From time to time I get a "timeout message" in pidgin from the jabber.org account but the other accounts are OK and network doesn't went down or has problems. Sniffing the communication I get 503 errors "503 service unavailable". As said I don't have the problem with other clients. I downgraded pidgin to 2.4.1 and 2.4.0 and have the same problem. Do you have an idea what this problem could be? How to track it down? Thanks alot. Bug#484156: evolution: timeout for pgp key import to short
Package: evolution Version: 2.22.2-1 Severity: normal Hello, I'm importing pgp keys with evolution and I always get a popup: "... Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken" But 10 seconds later I get another popup "Key imported".
