Bug#659733: libreoffice: -writer and -calc cannot open/save files with passwords

2012-02-13 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: libreoffice
Version: 1:3.4.5-2 1:3.5.0~rc3-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I want to open a few weeks old password protected file created with
libreoffice but get the error dialog "The password is incorrect. The file
cannot be opened."

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

open file and entered password

   * What was the outcome of this action?

error message

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

decrypt and open the file.

I tested it many time witht he correct password. The I created a new file and
wanted to save the new file (local) with a password (e.g. test) and get the
error dialog "Error saving the document test: General error. general
input/output error."
So I cannot open and create a file with a password.
Then I tested the version in experimental (1:3.5.0~rc3-1) with the same result
that you cannot open and save a password protected file anymore.

Tested it on a Debian machine of a co-worker and is reproducable there.

Simple testcase:
- start lowriter
- "save as"
- choose "with password"
- enter a password two times
- OK/Save
- you will get an error

I cannot open and save password protected libreoffice files anymore.

Can you reproduce this?

Regards

Noel

Bug#525391: cyrus-imapd-2.3: please upload 2.3.x to unstable/sid

2009-04-24 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: cyrus-imapd-2.3
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

upstream declared 2.3 as the stable release since some time
("The latest stable/current release of the IMAP server is 2.3.14..."
http://cyrusimap.web.cmu.edu/downloads.html) IMHO the 2.3 packages should
be uploaded to sid to test them there with a wider userbase.
Doing this later the less time until the next release and you can "drop"
work on 2.2 in sid/squeeze;)

Thanks.

Regards.

Bug#514855: libpam-mount: faq outdated

2009-02-11 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: libpam-mount
Version: 1.9-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

when I logout as a user the correct mounted cifs mounts are not unmounted.

I checked the faq and found:

Q. Why are my volumes not being unmounted by pam_mount? I use Debian.

A. Ensure that CLOSE_SESSIONS is set to yes in /etc/login.defs,
otherwise your volume will not be unmounted upon logging out. I
believe this default behavior is a bug and have filed it as Debian
bug #163635. The maintainer is Karl Ramm .
(Note December 2005: Current maintainer of pam_mount for Debian is
Bastian Kleineidam )
...

But the mentioned option in /etc/login.defs says:

...
# OBSOLETED ###
# #
# These options are no more handled by shadow.#
# #
# Shadow utilities will display a warning if they #
# still appear. #
# #
###

# CLOSE_SESSIONS
...

Maybe this entry needs to be removed from the faq.

thx.

Bug#507865: openoffice.org-writer: OOo 2.4.x openinig OOo 3 files doesn't show text (2.x implements standard wrong)

2008-12-05 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: openoffice.org-writer
Version: 1:2.4.1-13
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Hello,

sadly we found a IMHO bigger problem for the 2.x users which will be in lenny.

OOo 2.x implemented the ODF standard wrong which is fixed in OOo 3.0:

http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=64237

Now the problem is that data exchange from 3.0 to 2.x results in documents
with blanked text so the user will not see the data of the text.

The problem is reported upstream here:

http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96878

I hope this explains the problem with details.

Because lenny will be shipped with 2.x (looks like) and the world will continue
to spread/use 3.0 we will hurt our users with this problem because the OOo 3
files
will raise and OOo 2/lenny users cannot open the documents and see text.

I hope the problem is clear.

The solutions afaik:

1. release OOo 3.0 in lenny :)

2. OOo 2.x needs a patch which fixes the import of OOo > 3.0 files with the
correct
interpretation of display:text=. Sadly upsteam/a upstream developer wrote in
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96878 that they will not fix it
(or tend to this).:(

Bug#502970: xserver-xorg-core: please add Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" to Device section of xorg.conf

2008-10-21 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.4.2-7
Severity: normal

Hello,

I'm a happy user of xorg on lenny with the xorg.conf below. I have to
add manually the "AccelMethod" line because rotation didn't worked correctly
which I reported upstream https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18087
and quickly got the respond that I have to add the missing EXA.

To fix the upstream reported bug for Debian for everyone the xorg.conf created
by the xorg packages could add the AccelMethod Option.
This could be done for many drivers which are reported as solid on
http://wiki.x.org/wiki/ExaStatus

Thank you.

Regards.

Bug#502868: kcontrol: cannot configure kde version 4 programs

2008-10-20 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: kcontrol
Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-5
Severity: important
File: kcontrol

Hello,

I'm running lenny and on the machine are the kde 3.5.9 packages and some
packages
with version 4 which are in lenny, too.

kdebase-runtime
kdebase-runtime-bin-kde4
kdebase-runtime-data
kdelibs-bin
...

The problem is that kcontrol only configures .kde3 and .kde4 is not handled by
kcontrol.

The kde-open program (kde4) for example isn't aware of the configured
emailclient
(icedove instead of kmail) because the path of the configure changes and I need
to find
how to configure it with an editor.

The problem I see is that with the mixture of KDE3 and 4 in lenny the user can
use
KDE 4 applications but cannot configure them as they would expect.

I hope its understandable where I had and see a problem for our users.

Regards.

I'm wondering (maybe overlooked the information) why thinkfinger is only

It's in Debian more than a year and IMHO it should go into sid so people
use it.

Thank you.

Hello,

on sarge we used in our script:
$ SHARE='\\sambaserver\public';SHARE_NAME=${SHARE////};echo $SHARE_NAME
//sambaserver/public

The same line on lenny results in:
/sambaserver\public

To get the same result we have to remove two \\ in the Parameter Expansion:

$ SHARE='\\sambaserver\public';SHARE_NAME=${SHARE//\\//};echo $SHARE_NAME
//sambaserver/public

Because scripts break with this different behaviour I report this.

Bug#496047: openoffice.org-l10n-de: /usr/lib/openoffice/share/samples/de/ is used but missing

2008-08-22 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: openoffice.org-l10n-de
Version: 1:2.4.1-6
Severity: normal
Tags: i18n

Hello,

I'm not sure if this bug should be reported against openoffice.org-l10n-de or
openoffice.org-common (because en-US is there). Please reassign if its better.

If you are using OOo writer in e.g. german (should be the same problem with
other
non english languages) and you go to File -> New -> Template (Datei -> Neu ->
Vorlagen)
and in this filedialog you choose Examples (Beispiele) you will get the
following error:

... /usr/lib/openoffice/share/samples/de does not exist.

For en-US the directory is available in openoffice.org-common. This should go
to the language package or the de/ directory should be there, too.

Please add it to the package so the users won't get errors.

Thank you.

Bug#490814: iceweasel: pref("general.config.filename", ... results in "Failed to read the configuration file."

2008-07-14 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.0~rc2-2
Severity: important

Hello,

having the following option in /etc/iceweasel/pref/iceweasel.js

pref("general.config.filename", "config.cfg");

then iceweasel will not start and prints the error box:

Title: Configuration Error
Messagebox: Failed to read the configuration file. Please contact your
system administrator.

The /usr/lib/iceweasel/config.cfg

try {
lockPref("network.proxy.autoconfig_url"; "http://proxycfg/proxy.pac";);
}

It doesn't matter whats in config.cfg you will always get the error message.

This works with 2.0.0.14 without problems.
We are running this option on all of our clients and it breaks icweasel/firefox.

I found found some upstream bug

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427927

but because I'm runing 3.0~rc2-2 and not the released version I'm not sure if
the problem is because of rc2 or if its still a problem in the 3.0 release.

I can reproduce this version on lenny/i386 and sid/amd64.

Any more information you need for this problem?

Thank you.

Bug#489738: dbus has problems with ldap groups for policies ("Unknown group "dev-usb" in message bus configuration file")

2008-07-07 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: dbus
Version: 1.2.1-2
Severity: important

Hello,

in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf the group (from /etc/group) "plugdev"
gets the permission for the removal devices.
We are using LDAP for the account data and don't want to configure every

"dev-usb".

group dev-usb" shows my user in the group list.

Bug#488648: vlc: option video -> "always on top" does not work

2008-06-30 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: vlc
Version: 0.8.6.e-2.3+b1

Hello,

I can always reproduce this problem:

- Play a movie
- menu "Video" -> "always on top"

I would expect that every windows will be below vlc/the video
but moving a xterm above the vlc/movie is possible.

Bug#484357: pidgin: jabber.org Account does not work anymore since 2008-05-22

2008-06-03 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: pidgin
Version: 2.4.2-2
Severity: important

Hello,

since ca 2008-05-22 my pidgin does not work with my jabber.org account
anymore. It looks like the client connects but no buddies/contacts are
displayed. The other accounts (1x ICQ and 2x IRC) are working like
before and expected.
First I thought it has something to do with a server migration:
http://blog.xmpp.org/?p=40

When I use PSI as a client the account works like expected.

The password is OK. From time to time I get a "timeout message" in
pidgin from the jabber.org account but the other accounts are OK and
network doesn't went down or has problems.

Sniffing the communication I get 503 errors "503 service unavailable".

As said I don't have the problem with other clients. I downgraded pidgin
to 2.4.1 and 2.4.0 and have the same problem.

Do you have an idea what this problem could be?

How to track it down?

Thanks alot.

Bug#484156: evolution: timeout for pgp key import to short

2008-06-02 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: evolution
Version: 2.22.2-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I'm importing pgp keys with evolution and I always get a popup:

"... Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote
application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy
blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection
was broken"

But 10 seconds later I get another popup

"Key imported".

And then the Signature is imported to my (large) keyring.

The timeout is just to short.

Hello,

the README.Debian is outdated. Its runing on etch with the default etch
kernel correct and the other information isn't needed anymore.
IMHO it could be removed completly.

The server doesn't give out any IPs then and no communication is
possible between the two dhcp daemon.

the lease file is empty and IPs are free but the sarge machine always
say "DHCPDISCOVER from 00:0d:60:fb:bd:84 via eth0: not responding
(recovering)" when a client wants a IP.

Downgrading fixed the problem for me.;)

Tell me what to change/test to give you more details.

Thanks

Bug#439880: evolution: crashes everytime and its not possible to use it:(

2007-08-28 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: evolution
Version: 2.10.3-1
Severity: important

Hello,

I'm updating my sid system daily and since yesterday evolution crashes
everytime I start it. Some times I can use it for some seconds.

bug-buddy pops up and I reported some traces to the gnome bugzilla. So
if you need/want them please look at the links:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470977
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470846
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470821
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470817
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470816

I checked the gnome bugzilla and there are some more Debian crashing reports
from yesterday which are not from me, so they might be interesting for
you, too:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470946
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470885
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470784
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470751

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470703
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470683

Because there where no evolution upload in the last days it might be
a problem of a dependency but I wasn't able to find the problematic
package.

Bug#435826: python2.5: inclusion of Lib/plat-mac/plistlib.py possible?

2007-08-03 Thread Noel Köthe
Package: python2.5
Version: 2.5.1-3
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

for the Apple calendar server we /
https://alioth.debian.org/projects/calendarserver/
are working on the needed dependencies.
Is it possible that the python2.5 (or a binary package of src:python2.5)
package includes
python2.5-2.5.1/Lib/plat-mac/plistlib.py?

This would fix the ITP from Guido #386255

Thank you.
