Bug#453090: libgnome-pilot2-dev: Wrong libdir in /usr/lib/*.la

2007-11-27 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: libgnome-pilot2-dev
Version: 2.0.15-2
Severity: important

Upon inspection of /usr/lib/libgpilotd.la and other .la files in gnome-pilot, I
find "libdir='/usr/lib/'" whereas other libraries have libdir='/usr/lib'.

I don't know why this has happened, but it seems to break the Evolution build
with dpkg-dev 1.14.8 and higher. Whether "/usr/lib/" is a valid libdir path or
not, I'm not sure, but I can't find any other libraries using the trailing
slash. Please follow the norm and use "/usr/lib" so that Evolution can be built
again.

Bug#452739: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Seemingly random crashes

2007-12-03 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.2.0-1
Followup-For: Bug #452739

I also experience this crash regularly and can contribute with some info.

The crashes occur as Moshe says while using different applications
with no obvious pattern. It occured first time quite recently, and it
occurs about once every two hours on my system.

The symptoms are X.org shutting down, trying to restart. I can see the
shell for a fraction of a second before it tries to start X (gdm)
again. The gdm screen never shows up again, but the screen rather
remains black. I'm unable to Ctrl-Alt-F1 to shell anymore, but I'm
able to soft reboot (services stopped before reboot) with
Ctrl-Alt-Delete.

I run without xorg.conf file. I compared the output from Xorg.0.log
when it tried to start again after the inital crash (and then hangs
completely) with the output from a normal, successful session. The
result is:

Bug#355361: network-manager-gnome: Not member of group netdev

2006-03-06 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: network-manager-gnome
Version: 0.5.1-3
Followup-For: Bug #355361

Did Chris Hanson say he run nm-applet with a user that was in the
netdev group? I had the same problems as Chris until I added myself to
the group.

First, the error message could have given more clues about a
resolution. If the applet is to be added from the "Add applet.."-menu
one day, it would be more user-friendly with a popup informing of the
missing permissions, and suggesting to check netdev membership. It
should be organised with the gnome-system-admin guys so that netdev is
listed under User Privileges. Until then, README.Debian should mention
that the running user must be member of netdev.

Bug#355558: network-manager-gnome: nm-applet does not stop when NetworkManager is not running

2006-03-06 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: network-manager-gnome
Version: 0.5.1-3
Severity: normal

Whenever the NetworkManager service is not running, nm-applet will
start, but never display the icon in the notification area. Even when
killing the process (even with -9 as root), nm-applet will just
respawn itself as a new process. The result is that when logging in
and out of gnome X times, there will be X nm-applet processes running.

Bug#344401: firefox: Can't confirm. Steps to reproduce?

2005-12-23 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: firefox
Version: 1.5.dfsg-2
Followup-For: Bug #344401

I can't reproduce the problems you experience. I've successfully printed to a
CUPS printer, but unfortunately haven't tried any other printer.

Printing to file with CUPS-driver or Postscript/Default works fine, however,
both with Letter and A4.

Maybe you could describe a bit more clearly the steps needed to reproduce any
of the errors that happen every time? (preferably without having to actually
print every time)

Bug#374619: evolution-exchange: Not responding to evolution, excessive memory consuption

2006-06-20 Thread Oystein Gisnas
man, 19,.06.2006 kl. 18.34 +0100, skrev Steve Fosdick:
> I have evolution set up to talk to an exchange server at work. This
> used to work but with the current version of exchange-storage it is

Can you check if this is the same as
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=374604 or
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344776

We have multiple reports about that problem today. Mind the joke in
there, but the link to a package is real, but unofficial. You might try
and see if that helps..

Thanks,
Øystein Gisnås

Bug#352001:

2006-06-21 Thread Oystein Gisnas
severity 352001 minor
retitle 366841 "Does not indicate that exchange-operations plugin must be
enabled to see add account OWA URL field"
quit

The solution to the original problem is to enable the
exchange-operations plugin (enabled by default).

It is a minor issue that the account druid doesn't give the user any
notice that the plugin must be enabled.

Bug#373130: libevolution-cil: Linker cannot resolve libeshell.so.0 if built against evolution (>> 2.6.1-1)

2006-06-12 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: libevolution-cil
Version: 0.11.1-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Since the removal of .la files in evolution, evolution-sharp will contain
libraries that cannot resolve libeshell.so.0 if it is built against such a
version of evolution. The proper fix for this is to modify the evolution-shell
pkg-config file in evolution.

Meanwhile, evolution-sharp can be built as long as the library declares RPATH
correctly. I've attached a patch that does this. Add to the debian/patches
directory and append filename to 00list if this pacakge is to be rebuilt before
evolution is properly fixed. When evolution is fixed, the patch should be
removed.

Bug#278419: Any update on the bug "evolution: images do not load"?

2006-06-16 Thread Oystein Gisnas
There's a long time since the last update on the bug
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=278419 about evolution
not loading images.

Do you have a chance to test this with the current version in unstable
(2.6.2-2 atm)?

Thanks,
Øystein

Bug#209262: Limitation of bonobo

2006-06-16 Thread Oystein Gisnas
It is a known fact that evolution does not support multiple screens.
This is a limitation that is correlated to the use of Bonobo.

Bug#365851: firefox: Debian-specific User-Agent breaks major norwegian web sites

2006-05-03 Thread Oystein Gisnas

The norwegian websites www.altinn.no (hand in forms like tax form to
government) and www.skandiabanken.no (bank) are unable to recognize my
User-Agent string. I've had it confirmed by www.altinn.no, and they have issued
a change request, but I fear a lot of other sites will suffer from this too.

I post this to shed some light on the consequences of the diversion from the
upstream User-Agent scheme.

Bug#291150: bsdmainutils: What is the desired behaviour?

2005-12-08 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 6.1.2
Followup-For: Bug #291150

The current behaviour (as is also in the current OpenBSD version) reads from
stdin when there are no input files. A non-existing or non-readable file gives
a warning, but is otherwise treated as if it was never specified.

Can someone define the desired behaviour here? If the current behaviour is the
best, this bug can be marked as wontfix. Otherwise, a patch can easily be made
to make it fail whenever unable to open a file.

Bug#264996: bsdmainutils: Not all wordlists have the same ordering

2005-12-08 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 6.1.2
Followup-For: Bug #264996

It looks like the wordlists are sorted according to the collation for the
corresponding locale. To use "-b" with look(1) would require to know the locale
for each wordlist to determine the correct sort settings.

Correct my guess about wordlist sort order if I'm wrong. In any case, the bug
report is still valid. A possible solution could be to warn about using "-b"
without a file argument

Bug#126477: ant: upstream status

2005-12-04 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: ant
Version: 1.6.5-3
Followup-For: Bug #126477

When this bug was tagged upstream in 2002, was a bug filed upstream as well?
There seem to be no work on TarOutputStream, but
http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=35544 describes and fixes a
similar problem, which is not yet released.

There are a number of Stream-classes in Ant, and double-close() should probably
be tested for all of them, and a bug report filed for each of them not working.

Bug#341946: ant: Ant 1.6.0+ requires at least JDK 1.2

2005-12-04 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: ant
Version: 1.6.5-3
Severity: normal

http://archive.apache.org/dist/ant/RELEASE-NOTES-1.6.0.html bullet number one
upgrades Ant's JDK requirement from version 1.1 to 1.2. ant in Debian should do
the same by removing "java1-runtime" from the Depends line.

As far as I can see, this would render #292577 and #291519 obsolete, since both
users ran with gij, which only provides java1-runtime.

Bug#392999: FTBFS: configure.in has pwlib (= 1.10.1) dependency

2006-10-14 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: gnomemeeting
Version: 1.2.3-6
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 4.2

The configure.in script in gnomemeeting fails unless PWLib is version
1.10.1. In Debian, the package is called libpt-dev. The current version
of this package was just upped to 1.10.2-1.

The gnomemeeting package must be modified to work with the new
libpt-dev. If gnomemeeting had build-deps that reflected configure.in
(require version 1.10.1 of PWLib), this problem would have been
discovered earlier.

Thanks,
Øystein Gisnås

Bug#393531: galago-eds-feed: Fails to build with evolution-data-server 1.8.x

2006-10-16 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: galago-eds-feed
Version: 0.5.0-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Version 0.5.0 of this package has code to handle the API change in
EContactPhoto which is part of
evolution-data-server. The code does unfortunately not support the final
version of the API used in the 1.8.0
release. I've attached a trivial patch that fixes this. Please apply and upload.

Getting evolution 2.8 into unstable is blocked by this upload.

Cheers,

Bug#396252: Please package evolution-sharp from CVS and upload to experimental

2006-10-30 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: evolution-sharp
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

evolution-sharp does not compile with evolution-data-server 1.8. The structure
causing trouble is EContactPhoto which now has a union inside a struct. GAPI2
does not handle this. The bug has been reported at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362153. By editing the API .xml file,
it is possible to compile successfully. A patch that does this has been
attached. This patch does not enable use of contact pictures, though.
beagle-backend-evolution is the only user of libevolution2.0-cil in the
official Debian archive. Tests show that beagle does not crash with the patch.
We think it's a viable option to use this patch until the problem is fixed
properly in GAPI2.

Please package evolution-sharp from CVS, or alternatively pull the 1.8 API from
CVS, then build against e-d-s 1.8 from experimental, and upload to experimental.

If you object with the idea or need help with the packaging, please contact me.
evolution-sharp is the last hurdle before making evolution 2.8 ready for
unstable.

Cheers,
Øystein Gisnås

Bug#422542: evolution: Security features and settings in preferences are disabled

2007-05-06 Thread Oystein Gisnas
Package: evolution
Version: 2.10.1-1
Severity: important

It seems like all SSL and SMIME support is disabled. The settings is not
visible in the preferences. When entering the preferences menu, the following
message is outputted to the console:

(evolution:29753): evolution-addressbook-WARNING **:
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_Factory:2.10: Don't know what to do with
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_SMime_CertificateManager_ConfigControl:2.10

(evolution:29753): evolution-shell-WARNING **: Cannot activate
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_SMime_CertificateManager_ConfigControl:2.10 -- Factory
`OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_Factory:2.10' returned NIL for
`OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_SMime_CertificateManager_ConfigControl:2.10'

This problem is somewhat similar to bug #408548.
