Bug#611099: looks like kernel 2.6.32-31 fixed the issue
Just tried the new linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-31_i386 available as "proposed-update" and the reboot when resuming from hibernate issue *seems* gone on my MSI Wind U100. I tried several hibernate/restore sycles, both on AC and battery power and had no failures. -- Paolo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#611750:
Tried downgrading kernel of my MSI Wind U100 from linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-30_i386 to linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-29_i386 (from -30 to -29) and this seems to make resume from hibernate work reliably. Got the older kernel from http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20110115T030118Z/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-29_i386.deb -- Paolo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Tried another solution as recommended for http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=611750 Downgrading kernel from linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-30_i386 to linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-29_i386 (from -30 to -29) seems to work much more reliably than the other workaround. Bug#613393: why does syslinux-themes-debian-squeeze depend on memtest86+
Package: syslinux-themes-debian-squeeze Version: 5-1 Not sure this is a bug, but why does syslinux-themes-debian-squeeze depend on memtest86+ ? Tried to uninstall memtest86+ and also syslinux-themes-debian and syslinux-themes-debian-squeeze were taken off. -- Paolo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#611099:
I tried few combination of options for the i915 module and enabling powersave seems to improve resuming from hibernate. Try modifying conf file: /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf From: options i915 modeset=1 To: options i915 modeset=1 powersave=1 It might be just a side-effect of the module doing things differently than before and working around the bug, but it seems improving the chances of successful resume from hibernate. -- Paolo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Same symptoms on an MSI Wind U100 netbook: everything else works other than resume from hibernate which fails most of the times (more on battery than on AC power) Havent tried to rebuild the kernel without the offending patch though. -- Paolo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#611099: same issue here
same issue here on my MSI Wind U100 on squeeze (stable) sporadic failure to resume from hibernate, when the netbook spends some time reading the image file from the disk but then decides to reboot to a fresh start nothing noticeable from the logs only additional info: it happens more often on battery power and rarely on AC power -- Paolo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#531447: splashy not showing graphical image during hibernate/suspend/resume
Package: splashy Version: 3.13-3 I installed splashy on debian lenny, with the debian-moreblue theme, running from initramfs. It works just fine during a normal boot or shutdown of the system. It does not work (the graphical image is not shown, just the textual screen is shown without splashy error messages) during hibernate/suspend/resume.
