Hi,

Since the upgrade of the kernel in testing to 2.6.38 I have had
serious issues. Every once and a while, my laptop just reboots (It
looks like a kernel panic, however, this is not displayed on screen,
nor anything is in the log files).
Iam not fully sure whats the cause, as there is just no info in the
log files at all, as far I can see.
Iam not able to reproduce how the crash happens, it seems randomly. In
some cases it happens just after I did boot, in other cases I can
work a hour on my laptops and it crashes.

Try removing VirtualBox and the wl driver.
Virtualbox doesnt seem to make any change. Iam not sure how to remove
the wl driver, I cant seem to find it in the /etc/modules/

If that doesn't make a difference:

If anyone can give instructions on how to get more information iam
ofcourse willing to provide the required information. Right now, iam
considering going back to the 2.6.32 kernel.

[...]

You may be able to get some information with netconsole
http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/networking/netconsole.txt if
you have another computer available.

Ben
When trying netconsole I dont get any message at all when it crashes, I
will keep trying up more this weekend, but the crashes happens very
randomly, so it is hard to predict when it happens.

Hi there,

have you actually reported this to upstream? Or looked in their forums
if there is more info (or opinions on that matter)?
We probably can't do much here, since our dependencies are correct:
we depend on either one of mysql, pgsql, sqlite.
Whatever of those is installed, we assume the user is going to use,
therefore dependencies are satisfied.
There is no other simple way to behave differently anyhow (in Debian).

Regards
JM

Hi,

I think the main issue here is that phpBB checks at installation if
pgsql (Or any other required DBMS extension), and doesnt install if the
DMBS extension is not installed. So if Debian doesn't use this
installer, then it should check if the correct extension is there.

I don't think think upstream will change this, as iam pretty sure this
is done by design.

Thanks, however I have 2 small comments. First of all, there should be
no newline at the end of that file (It can cause unwanted notice of
sending headers in certian cases), and secondly, there should or be a
mention of the requirement that the script for fixing existing posts
should be runned, or the script should just be runned at upgrade.
Otherwise only new posts will not be vulnrable, however old posts still are.

Bug#607529: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: HDMI uses wrong signal for TVs with no HDMI sound support

2010-12-19 Thread Paul Sohier
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-29
Severity: normal

When a TV without sound support via HDMI is used with HDMI all output is green
instead of blue. This happens with a LG Flatron MD2061D. You get a result like
this: http://www.hosthuis.nl/IMAG0401.jpg

A patch can be found here (From freedesktop.org), however this patch does not
cleanly apply to the Debian kernel:
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/intel-gfx/2010-October/008321.html
Using this change the color on the TV works correctly.

Bug#515289: nagios3-common: UCF debconf error

2009-02-15 Thread Paul Sohier
Package: nagios3-common
Version: 3.0.6-3
Severity: normal

The next error messages are sended when installing nagios3/nagios3-common after
a upgrade from etch to lenny:

Setting up nagios3-common (3.0.6-3) ...
*** WARNING: ucf was run from a maintainer script that uses debconf, but
the script did not pass --debconf-ok to ucf. The maintainer
script should be fixed to not stop debconf before calling ucf,
and pass it this parameter. For now, ucf will revert to using
 old-style, non-debconf prompting. Ugh!

Please inform the package maintainer about this problem.

Bug#508259: (no subject)

2008-12-09 Thread Paul Sohier

Why arent such critical issues also fixed in the 2.6.18 kernel?
Not everyone just can updated on a production machine.

Paul.
