Bug#514269: plasma is not sending a notify refresh to some applications
Hello Armin After some time dealing with a crazy hardware?? problem in my main box I am able to give some more information about the refresh problem. The problem never shows up in case kwin composite effects are active. So, if the problem is originated in X level, as you mention, it can be avoided at kwin/plasma level. The problem persists in KDE 4.2.1 + qt 4.4.3-2. I have not tested qt 4.5 yet. The problem is reproducible for every graphics card I have access. (Nvidia, ATI, Intel) Despite it may be reproducible for every application as you say, it have much more impact in some aplications (allways in my experience) and less impact on others (barely in my experience) -- Thanks for your time and effort. Bug#418338: Present in fglrx-driver/8.47.3-3 too
Hello The bug is also present in fglrx-driver/8.47.3-3 A fix is suggested at http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showpost.php?p=26805postcount=126 and discussed at http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?p=27696#post27696 It is a bit confusing because the fix refers to authatieventsd.sh as part of the solution and that file is not present in debian lenny/sid. Is that the problem? Any suggestions? Pedro -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I think upstream is in a better position than me to handle this -- could you send them an e-mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and see if they can help you with your problem? Hello Steinar I appreciate your efforts to help me and I will follow your advice to contact upstream, as soon as I have a bit of time to made a comprehensive report written in reasonably good English. However, I add here a short note on the tracing progress I made meanwhile. Since you tell that you are not able to reproduce this, I have made a few tests in order to understand the reasons for that. So, I found that the problem arises only if the user for which the ticket expires have a KDE (not tested with GNOME) session opened. The other users have their homes locked despite the session type(KDE, ssh, su + kinit, ...) they use. Bug#446238: nfs-common: Locks when using nfs4 sec=krb5 and user ticket expires

The client syslog presents messages like these So the real problem is that the new session doesn't refresh your user credentials? That doesn't sound like an NFS bug to me. Hello Thank you for your prompt answer Steinar The reason I suspect that the problem is with NFS is that the problem comes out with users (designated by B) other than the user that have is ticket expired(designated by A). That is to say, a user B, with a fresh and valid ticket, can not access is own home at the nfs mount until the user A (that have is home mounted at same nfs server and is ticket was expired) does not refresh is (the user A) ticket. For me, it seems that a lock condition is generated, somewere in the client machine NFS code, when the opened files of user A become unreachable due to ticket expiration. The lock condition does not interfere with mount and unmount (made by the automounter or other mean) for the home of any user B on the nfs server. Read of directory entries on the user B home is also possible showing that the user B have valid credentials. Only user B processes reading and writing on files (or writing directory entries) hang on a locked state. After user A refreshes is ticket he can access the opened files again and the NFS lock condition is removed, letting the locked processes of the user B proceed on the read (or write) operation. Until now, I failed to figure out a subsystem other than NFS that can be responsible for this behaviour. However, I am only guessing becose I have not traced the code execution, so, if you have reasons to assign the bug to other package please let me know. Bug#377689: HAL policy breaks mounting for next KDE
Hi And what do you think about hal daemon doing a fake login to the user (through pam) and get the id information there. This provides an uniform way of knowing about user group ownership no mather pam is configured. This is from a desperate guy trying to put 800 user working with plugdev over a 50 machines cluster. Loosing /etc/security/group.conf and pam_group capability, the only chance is changing 'deny' to 'allow' for the 'Device.Volume' entries in the 'policy context=default' section or, even worst, have a group with 800 users in the ldap database and tweaking /etc/groups in every machine to remove plugdev. The lyx-qt process uses 100% of the CPU during the dialog startup. Bug#383239: A few more details
Wen I say no more wireless operations are allowed, I mean that it is not possible to make the interface go up again. Moreover, it is not possible to remove the module. The command modprobe -r ndiswrapper hangs and never exits. While not yet extensively tested, after trying to remove the module it seems that applications relying on the network also hang. For example, it is not possible to interact with kicker. A reboot via telinit 6 (or other method) is allowed, but filesystems fail to close cleanly. After this the message Aug 15 21:48:26 localhost kernel: unregister_netdevice: waiting for wlan0 to become free. Bug#377399: lyx-qt crashes when external application updates a figure
Package: lyx-qt Version: 1.4.1-2 Severity: normal lyx-qt sometimes crashes when a figure file is updated by an external application. It seems to appen when the updated figure is referenced in a document opened but not the one being viewed. Since I am not able to sistematicaly reproduce it, I can't say that these are the exact conditions. However, I am sure that it is when a figure is updated.
