After a more detailed analysis of the current report I concluded that I have a
different situation.
In my case the behavior is very close to that reported here: https://
bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400221

My best regards

Hi Daniel

I am no longer in conditions to check if the problem is solved.
Unless any of the other reporters believes that it is not the case the bug can
be closed.

Bug#681337: digikam: upstream bug correction version 2.7 available

2012-07-12 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Package: digikam
Version: 4:2.6.0-1+b1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Despite, as far as I know, wheezy is in freeze state by now, digikam developers
made available a bug correction version (2.7) that you may consider to
prelimiar testing and then to enter unstable. In case that is not possible it
may be a source for producing patches for the actual version.

Keep the good work
Thanks

Bug#671078: lprof: Please link with libqt4-qt3support instead of libqt3-mt

2012-05-01 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Package: lprof
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

Installing lprof leads to instalation of the libqt3-mt library. This makes
other applications that rely on libqt4-qt3support fail.
Please make lprof to be linked with libqt4-qt3support to solve this.

Bug#664140: qtiplot crashes if libqt3-mt is installed

2012-03-15 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Package: qtiplot
Version: 0.9.8.8-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

*** End of the template - remove these lines ***

The situation is activated by the instalation of libqt3-mt (as requested, for
example, by lprof)

After libqt3-mt is installed runing qtiplot Analisys-Fit Wizard leads to a
crash, it also oddly afects multi-peak fits.

Removing libqt3-mt gives back the correct behavior

At this moment, I am no longer administrating the network that have the
triggering configuration. I only know that it is yet operational and that the
software version installed was not changed, so I can not give a prompt answer.
The best I can do is to give a try to reproduce the problem in squeeze during
the weekend.

Bug#514269: plasma is not sending a notify refresh to some applications

2009-03-23 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Hello Armin

After some time dealing with a crazy hardware?? problem in my main box I
am able to give some more information about the refresh problem.

The problem never shows up in case kwin composite effects are
active. So, if the problem is originated in X level, as you mention, it can be
avoided at kwin/plasma level.

The problem persists in KDE 4.2.1 + qt 4.4.3-2. I have not tested qt 4.5 yet.

The problem is reproducible for every graphics card I have access. (Nvidia,
ATI, Intel)

Despite it may be reproducible for every application as you say, it have much
more impact in some aplications (allways in my experience) and less impact on
others (barely in my experience)

Thanks for your time and effort.

Bug#418338: Present in fglrx-driver/8.47.3-3 too

2008-04-03 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Hello

The bug is also present in fglrx-driver/8.47.3-3

A fix is suggested at
http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showpost.php?p=26805postcount=126
and discussed at
http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?p=27696#post27696

It is a bit confusing because the fix refers to authatieventsd.sh as part of
the solution and that file is not present in debian lenny/sid. Is that the
problem?

Any suggestions?

Pedro

Bug#446238: nfs-common: Locks when using nfs4 sec=krb5 and user ticket expires

Yes, that is precisely the problem.

OK, I'm not in a position to reproduce this, and I'm still not entirely
sure precisely what your setup is like. I think upstream is in a better
position than me to handle this -- could you send them an e-mail at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and see if they can help you with your problem?

Hello Steinar

I appreciate your efforts to help me and I will follow your advice to contact
upstream, as soon as I have a bit of time to made a comprehensive report
written in reasonably good English. However, I add here a short note on the
tracing progress I made meanwhile.
Since you tell that you are not able to reproduce this, I have made a few
tests in order to understand the reasons for that. So, I found that the
problem arises only if the user for which the ticket expires have a KDE (not
tested with GNOME) session opened. The other users have their homes locked
despite the session type(KDE, ssh, su + kinit, ...) they use.

Thank you again

So the real problem is that the new session doesn't refresh your user
credentials? That doesn't sound like an NFS bug to me.

Hello
Thank you for your prompt answer Steinar

The reason I suspect that the problem is with NFS is that the problem comes
out with users (designated by B) other than the user that have is ticket
expired(designated by A). That is to say, a user B, with a fresh and valid
ticket, can not access is own home at the nfs mount until the user A (that
have is home mounted at same nfs server and is ticket was expired) does not
refresh is (the user A) ticket.

For me, it seems that a lock condition is generated, somewere in the client
machine NFS code, when the opened files of user A become unreachable due to
ticket expiration.
The lock condition does not interfere with mount and unmount (made by the
automounter or other mean) for the home of any user B on the nfs server. Read
of directory entries on the user B home is also possible showing that the
user B have valid credentials. Only user B processes reading and writing on
files (or writing directory entries) hang on a locked state.
After user A refreshes is ticket he can access the opened files again and the
NFS lock condition is removed, letting the locked processes of the user B
proceed on the read (or write) operation.

Until now, I failed to figure out a subsystem other than NFS that can be
responsible for this behaviour. However, I am only guessing becose I have not
traced the code execution, so, if you have reasons to assign the bug to other
package please let me know.

Thanks again

Bug#446238: nfs-common: Locks when using nfs4 sec=krb5 and user ticket expires

2007-10-11 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Package: nfs-common
Version: 1:1.0.10-6+etch.1
Severity: important

The problem can be reproduced in the following conditions

Automounted homes over nfs4 with sec=krb5
Start a session on the nfs client and let the user ticked (used to grant the
nfs access) expire

After this the user can not access is home (as should be expected)
However, it also appens that, for example, any trial to start a new session of
some other user will sucessfully mount the respective home but the login
process will stay
forever trying to read a file (.bash_profile for example).
The client syslog presents messages like these

where 726 is the owner of the expired ticket in the present case

Refreshing the expired ticket for this user grants him access to his home again
and, additionaly, unlocks access to the other user homes

In a single user nfs client machine this is pretty harmless, but in a multiuser
one or if it is an X or thin terminal server, as it is the case here, this is a
show stopper

On client
autofs 4.1.4-13

On server

LOCKD: Fix a deadlock in nlm_traverse_files()

nlm_traverse_files() is not allowed to hold the nlm_file_mutex while calling

If it is I preciate a word on moving to 2.6.18!

In case you think it is not, I am reopening the bug and asking if someone can
give me some suggestions on retrieving the kernel relevant info in order to
trace out the problem?

Bug#377689: HAL policy breaks mounting for next KDE

2006-11-17 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Hi

And what do you think about hal daemon doing a fake login to the user (through
pam) and get the id information there.

This provides an uniform way of knowing about user group ownership no mather
pam is configured.

This is from a desperate guy trying to put 800 user working with plugdev over
a 50 machines cluster.
Loosing /etc/security/group.conf and pam_group capability, the only chance is
changing 'deny' to 'allow' for the 'Device.Volume' entries in the 'policy
context=default' section or, even worst, have a group with 800 users in
the ldap database and tweaking /etc/groups in every machine to remove
plugdev.

Thanks for any help

2006-09-05 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Package: lyx-qt
Version: 1.4.2-4
Severity: normal

I am using lyx-qt 1.4.2 to edit my thesis (960 Kb) and dialogs to insert/edit
cross references take about 5s to open and dialogs to insert/edit citations
take about 2s to open. This was not certainly the case when I used lyx-qt 1.3.x
and also
for 1.4.1 I think (while not sure for the 1.4.1 because I used it only during a
short time)
My CPU is a P4 at 1.7 GHz. The lyx-qt process uses 100% of the CPU
during the dialog startup.
Working with smaller documents (like articles for example) does not take
a mensurable time, so it seems to be parsing the document contents during
the delay to open the dialogs.

Thanks

Bug#377399: The same problem in 1.4.2-4

2006-08-24 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Hello

After upgrading to 1.4.2-4 the crash on updating figures shows up again.

In my experience up to now the crash occours with any number of documents open
(including one).

A fresh session of lyx seems to be much more hard to crash in this way then
a session with a medium to long edition work. I was never sucessfull to make
it appen again imediately after restarting.

Thanks

Bug#383239: Clarification

2006-08-17 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Hello

The message

Aug 15 21:48:26 localhost kernel: unregister_netdevice: waiting for wlan0 to
become free. Usage count = 7

starts to be outputed after the modprobe -r command and not after the telinit
command as the previous message may suggest.
Sorry for the lack of clarity

Thanks

Bug#383239: A few more details

2006-08-16 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Wen I say no more wireless operations are allowed, I mean that it is not
possible to make the interface go up again. Moreover, it is not possible to
remove the module. The command

modprobe -r ndiswrapper

hangs and never exits.

While not yet extensively tested, after trying to remove the module it seems
that applications relying on the network also hang. For example, it is not
possible to interact with kicker.

A reboot via telinit 6 (or other method) is allowed, but filesystems fail to
close cleanly.
After this the message

Aug 15 21:48:26 localhost kernel: unregister_netdevice: waiting for wlan0 to
become free. Usage count = 7

is repeatedly outputed to the console and registered in syslog

The information in syslog when ndiswrapper starts up is

Aug 15 21:51:06 localhost kernel: ndiswrapper version 1.18 loaded
(preempt=no,smp=no)

If there are more details I can give please let me know

Bug#383239: random hang of ndiswrapper module

2006-08-15 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Package: ndiswrapper
Severity: important

Hi
After some time of operation (from 1 to 8 days for me), ndiswrapper hangs and
no more wireless
operations are allowed.

My syslog looks like this
.
Aug 15 17:04:53 localhost ifplugd(wlan0)[4604]: Link beat lost.
Aug 15 17:05:04 localhost ifplugd(wlan0)[4604]: Executing
'/etc/ifplugd/ifplugd.action wlan0 down'.
Aug 15 17:05:04 localhost ifplugd(wlan0)[4604]: Program executed
successfully.
Aug 15 17:05:14 localhost kernel: wlan0: no IPv6 routers present
.

my card is: (lspci output)
:03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g
Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)

The first time I have this problem was after upgrading to etch (kernel
2.6.15). Now I am runing kernel 2.6.16-2-686 and the problem stills
there.

Bug#377399: lyx-qt crashes when external application updates a figure

2006-07-08 Thread Pedro Celestino dos Reis Rodrigues
Package: lyx-qt
Version: 1.4.1-2
Severity: normal

lyx-qt sometimes crashes when a figure file is updated by an external
application.
It seems to appen when the updated figure is referenced in a document
opened but not the one being viewed. Since I am not able to
sistematicaly reproduce it, I can't say that these are the exact
conditions. However, I am sure that it is when a figure is updated.

The first time I noticed this was after upgrading to 1.4.1-2
